This is all wonderful, but I'm terrified what will happen when Labour get in...

I'm cautiously optimistic that they've realised they picked the wrong side and that no matter how batshit so many of their comments have been, the majority now realise that demanding untested, unsafe puberty blockers to sterilise children as demanded by ALL the trans activist groups isn't going to happen any longer.

EmpressaurusOfCats · 15/04/2024 19:04

Victoria Atkins was at the Westminster Hall debate where Layla Moran announced that she could tell whether someone was male or female because she could see their souls, regardless of their bodies.

I wonder if that was when she started to realise something was off?

GeorgeOrwellsTurningGrave · 15/04/2024 19:04

You are right @RedToothBrush Alliance in bed with Lib Dems. Their behaviour on this subject, even in the face of contrary evidence, proves they are completely compromised and amoral.

OvaHere · 15/04/2024 19:04

I am reassured by VA's statement that we will implement Cass first, thenhave an enquiry. It reassures me that she is sincere. Because if you wanted to sound tough but do nothing, promising an enquiry would be your go-to response. So action first, stop harming kids asap. Me likey.

Just can't believe Streeting, I'm afraid. Maybe I'm being ungenerous, but a leopard can't change its spots.

The problem here is that it's overwhelmingly likely that Streeting will be our Health Secretary by the end of the year. Is he committed enough to see Cass through then call an enquiry? I hope so and he's making the right noises but we'll have to see I guess.

Smart People have been and will be watching the pieces move before making their next one, fully aware of whats likely to happen.

I am very much of the mind that we have to see certain blocks fall into place before the next stage can commence.

Slowly it will make it harder and harder to be batshit but taken seriously.

Tide has well and truly turned. I think we have a few grown ups back in the room and willing to speak.

Slowly it will make it harder and harder to be batshit but taken seriously.

Yes. We're way past the stage where men in wigs and tights can address NHS employees and tell them they're bigoted if they don't share toilets.

They're reduced to attempting to undermine the 50 out of 52 poor evidenced studies, but they're getting massive correctional pushback about that.

So then they come up with how long will children have to wait nowwwww. But since they can't leverage suicide, it's as fair a question as any other child waiting for treatment.

And, of course, it's the 'treatment' that has now changed.

And calling people bigoted transphobes is suddenly, unutterably, hackneyed, passé, and clichéd. Dahling.

RedToothBrush · 15/04/2024 19:07

Still trying to figure out the LD position.

Though have now found this from 10th April

Wera Hobhouse MP AT Wera_Hobhouse
70% of trans people face transphobia when accessing general health services. People need to be able to access vital gender-affirming healthcare. Yet the Conservatives are intent on using their lives to fuel a culture war and create even more barriers to life-saving services.

NeedToKnow101 · 15/04/2024 19:09

Cass Report has had an impact in my workplace already, an FE college. Leadership had already used Safe Schools Alliance, Sex Matters and Transgender Trend resources to help formulate respond to the recent government consultation.

This week they are putting the brakes on accepting/ promoting trans identities in children. I'm asking them to stop promoting it in PHSE sessions. I think two things have changed, they have woken up to the harm this ideology causes, and are scared of being sued.

BoreOfWhabylon · 15/04/2024 18:14

Apparently greeted with derision!

She doesn’t know what a systematic review is then.

And Cass even explains what that is & why it matters in the report, which Butler can’t have read.

DramaLlamaBangBang · 15/04/2024 19:09

I hope the highlighting of the harm brought by this to the LGB community will be a watershed within Labour on this. Its essentially Gay conversion therapy that gay people have been bullied and silenced into approving of an ideology that erases them. If sex is irrelevant, same sex attraction is irrelevant. I hope more gay people are brave enough to stand up for themselves on this. I can't see how Labour could row back if that happens.

Wera has disappointed me. She was so good in the Brexit debates, then goes all swivel-eyed loon over gender ideology.

EmpressaurusOfCats · 15/04/2024 19:12

Don’t the Lib Dems have to do that since they’re being funded by puberty blocker manufacturers?

soupfiend · 15/04/2024 19:13

Whats happening with the Greens, I dont know if they have MPs do they?

Im only following it on here sorry

And who is LRM?

Streeting has, for whatever reason, fixed his colours to the evidence-based medicine mast.

As he’s not stupid & he is incredibly ambitious, this is a good omen.

I’ve no doubt he’d change in a second if he thought it would damage his chances of becoming the next Prime Minister after Starmer.

AGlinnerOfHope · 15/04/2024 19:16

I reckon some of them are here among us. They just ‘sound’ MN. Unless it’s the uncommon sound of common sense 🤣

Its quite something for a party that has always put huge weight on evidence led policy.

Oh for sure. Eyes on the prize that one!

I don't trust him but it's to our advantage for now.

Yes.

The ideology relied on children. Born this way, etc.

And now they can't.

Cockerel eggs, presumably?

😂

oldwomanwhoruns · 15/04/2024 19:19

Streeting's talk was out of both sides of his mouth. Talking about 'evidence based, then going on about 'trans children'. Then he started talking about trans surgeries for adults being often 'life saving'.
He is still well down the trans rabbit-hole.
Wouldn't trust him any further than I could throw him.

And who is LRM?

They have 1 MP Caroline Lucas who is standing down at the election to become a death doula (as per Times article the other day). Caroline is TWAW as you would imagine.

They also have 2 seats in the HoL but I couldn't say who those are.

RedToothBrush · 15/04/2024 19:21

If VA says that theres no place for this type of campaigning in Education where does that leve Stonewall's School Scheme???

Also organisations like Just Like Us who go into schools & tell the kids how great it is to be trans.

His immediate go-to was not the victims of this scandal, that's for sure

theDudesmummy · 15/04/2024 19:23

This is all tremendous. But I am finding it difficult to believe that it took Cass, great as she has been, to convince so many people that they were entirely wrong, when it was in fact blindingly obvious all along. Did they really believe it before? Do they really disbelieve it now? Or was it all just expediency? Do people realise how batshit it all looks?
