Is Glinner still about on MN?

Not sure if he’s still on here, but @Glinner, thank you so much for being an ally in the true sense of the word. Thank you for everything you sacrificed in the name of truth, science, and female equality. I hope the Cass report gives you some vindication, as it has done so many of us. The tide has turned, the emperor is naked. Thank you for believing and supporting GC women from the start.

Lets stop rising to @LunaandLily 's nonsense and focus on thanking @Glinner for his heroic work.

Those who stand up for any cause at personal risk are rare. Men who stand up for women at all are rare. And those who combine standing up for women and girls at personal cost to themselves are bloody unicorns, and @Glinner is one of those.

I am glad he is in the world.

Thank you @Glinner

Mishmaj · 12/04/2024 15:59

Glinner I cannot thank you enough for all that you have done. I am actually moved to tears for all you have done for women and children.

My daughter is autistic, her school pride club is populated with all of the gender non-confirming, non-binary and moving-towards trans girls, these are her tribe. It has been and still is a tricky road to navigate but she now sees herself as gay. She is sensitively navigating her way through maintaining a belief that you cannot change sex, and that being a gay, gender non-conforming woman is itself bloody brilliant, whilst working hard to be supportive to her friends yet not endorsing their beliefs or being rejected by them for her GC beliefs.

Without you and these wonderful women at Mumsnet, I may never have had the insight and strength to convince her of the madness of the gender idealogues - she was in thrall, taught about it in PHSE lessons in school! - and to help her navigate through this incredibly sensitive area. It is unbelievably tragic that the parents, friends and schools of these vulnerable, ND girls have believed themselves to be doing the right thing by supporting trans fantasies. I cannot say how relieved I feel that the tide seems to be turning in England at least.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart, and thanks to KnitFastDieWarm for starting this thread and opening up the possibility for me to say thanks to Glinner himself.

What a legend.

Troll feeding aside - "I bet most of you have never even met a trans person."

I'd be super interested in a poll to see how many women here know trans women personally or are friends with them.
I count myself as one - I've known many over the years, off the top of my head at least 5.

I'd wager that LunaandLily would be eating their words tbqh.

Teddleshon · 12/04/2024 16:03

@SpicyMoth I have one, a good friend who is absolutely horrified by the tactics of the TRAs.

Angelwings77 · 12/04/2024 16:07

Another huge thank you to @Glinner you stuck your head above the parapet while others hid. Thank you for standing up and standing your ground for women, lesbians and children, I’m just so sorry it cost you what it did. We will never forget

Musomama1 · 12/04/2024 16:24

Thanks Glinner.

As a former long time reader of Cookd and Bombd I've gone a hard 180 from thinking 'what the hell happened to Graham Linehan?' to shedding a tear on your behalf for the success of your autobiography of which i own a signed copy. Who'd have thought?

Hope Cass brings you further vindication.

Abhannmor · 12/04/2024 16:32

Yes thanks to @KnitFastDieWarm for the lovely thread! Bought 2 copies of the wonderfully funny and sad Tough Crowd. Am giving them as presents now. Is there a paperback edition?

You are a total ledge @Glinner

AlecTrevelyan006 · 12/04/2024 11:59

well worth watching again from February 2020

Hard to watch though. Ambushed and shouted over by a privileged mediocrity , whose father was one of my heroes . I wonder if she looks back and cringes? Probably not....

GrandmaMazur · 12/04/2024 16:45

Thank you Glinner. When’s the next episode of The Mess We’re In going to be? It’s going to be a corker!

TerfinUSB · 12/04/2024 16:52

Glinner you're an exceptional human being. Thank you doesn't really cover it. What a price you have paid.
Can we have a Mess soon? I want to hear from all of you about your experiences after the Cass report 😀

lifeturnsonadime · 12/04/2024 16:54

Just popping over to echo the sentiments of others, thank so much @Glinner

TeamPolin · 12/04/2024 16:57

Agreed 🌟🌟

QueenofTheBorg · 12/04/2024 16:57

I want to add my thanks too, @Glinner - I bought 3 copies of your book, all direct from the publisher. Thank you for never wavering and for speaking out.

LunaandLily · 12/04/2024 15:23

I love women! I love being a woman.

How long have you been one?

Crankywiddershins · 12/04/2024 17:24

LunaandLily · 12/04/2024 15:31

You are throwing your support behind someone who is vocally transphobic and explicitly stated that trans women are, at best mentally ill, and at worst, deviant perverts.

So Isla Bryson, Katie Dolatowski, Amy George and Karen White AREN'T deviant?

Barbiefromtheblock · 12/04/2024 17:28

Thank you @Glinner

Thank you for Father Ted. Thank you for Black Books. For The IT Crowd, for Count Arthur Strong and for Motherland.

But most of all, thank you for being a true ally to women and girls; for standing up and saying, "No" and continuing to say it, however much it cost you.

user8800 · 12/04/2024 17:29

Thank you @glinner

My child has many friends who were "trans"

They have all - every single one - stopped believing this bullshit now they are older.

And all of them are ND.

When will the people who push this ideology onto vulnerable ND children be punished?

I bought your book in hard copy and kindle :)

Sorry, the cry of ‘transphobe’ doesn’t work any more. Try harder.

Or try actually learning about the issues in question, with an open mind. You might be surprised, you might not. But at least you’ll be able to make an informed argument.

Well quite. I’m bisexual and have slept with several gender non conforming people. I also have a cousin who is trans (and stays well out of all the TRA nonsense). Bring it on, as far as I’m concerned. The more we break down the gender binary, the better. But humans can’t change sex and children can’t consent to irreversible medical procedures based on how they feel age 15.

I suspect @LunaandLily needs to believe we’re all raging pearl clutching right wing bigots in order to keep their world view intact. Sorry, not the case.

Thank you @glinner. Looking forward to the next episode of The Mess. 🥂

Ifulikepinacoladas · 12/04/2024 18:34

Thank you for this thread. I cannot support those like @Glinner hard enough. Have just ordered his book.

The whole issue fills me with rage and frustration. Feels like the tide has turned a tiny bit lately.

TidyDancer · 12/04/2024 18:42

Thank you @Glinner, you wonderful man. You have sacrificed so much and yet you still stand up for what is right in the face of such abuse. I'll always be so grateful for you and everything you've done.

DirtyDuchess · 12/04/2024 20:39

It's a thanks from me too. You've been a stalwart @Glinner xx
