Is Glinner still about on MN?

Not sure if he’s still on here, but @Glinner, thank you so much for being an ally in the true sense of the word. Thank you for everything you sacrificed in the name of truth, science, and female equality. I hope the Cass report gives you some vindication, as it has done so many of us. The tide has turned, the emperor is naked. Thank you for believing and supporting GC women from the start.

Adding myself to the list of Thank You's @Glinner You are awesome!

viques · 12/04/2024 11:54

I was just listening to the Queens Speech podcast ( not Camilla!) discussing Cass as linked on another thread, and they were very fulsome in their praise for Graham, and how they felt he ( and others) is/are owed a huge Thankyou for putting his head above the parapet and bringing the whole gender affirming catastrophe to a wider audience, and at the same time they said a lot of people owe him a huge apology for the vile hate, filth and career ruining bullying that this unleashed.

I am sure he has heard the podcast and I would like to endorse what it said.

However, as with JKR and the Entitled ones, I imagine that apologies from some people would only be hollow and would not make up for the hurt and betrayal he must have felt and still feel.

Onacuctustree · 12/04/2024 11:56

Thank you @Glinner.

Motnight · 12/04/2024 12:15

Thank you @Glinner from my DD and I.

DD in her mid 20s is only just realising the magnitude of what is happening regarding around this topic.

Cauliflowery · 12/04/2024 12:33

Thank you @Glinner for everything! My eldest is just old enough to watch Father Ted so it's been a fab excuse to watch all over again.

My kids are going to grow up knowing the stories of you and JK Rowling and how you were treated for standing up for women's rights and how you did the right thing anyway. I will not let misogyny be their blind spot.

Wearingmybluejumper · 12/04/2024 12:37

Thank you Graham for your courageous advocacy for women and girls. Thank you also for providing our family with the joy of your comedic genius for such a long time. A Christmassy Ted has been a Christmas tradition in our family for many years! And I loved your memoir. I hope you are well and happy!

ScepticalConspiracyTheorist · 12/04/2024 12:39

You have been incredibly brave and I am extremely grateful to you and so sorry for all your have endured
Activism, true activism, always comes at a high price
Bless your heart

MonsieurSpade · 12/04/2024 12:41

Thank you @Glinner . You’ve lost so much standing up for others.
A real hero.

Swallowdoubleandrunamile · 12/04/2024 12:46

Huge gratitude from me too @Glinner
You are indeed a hero ❤️

Glinner · 12/04/2024 04:40

I am! Thank you so much everyone. Has been an honour to fight alongside you all. Not over yet, of course, but huge step forward this week. xxx

You are an incredibly courageous ( and talented) person. I wish you a happy & peaceful life. Thank you!

LizzieSiddal · 12/04/2024 13:11

Thank you @Glinner, you really are bloody hero.

TWETMIRF · 12/04/2024 13:13

Three cheers for the man who stood with us against all the shit flung from those who used to be from Iran

KnitFastDieWarm · 12/04/2024 13:14

so glad i started this thread 😊
@glinner you were already a legend before all this kicked off (Father Ted and Black Books comprised most of my early teenage TV watching) but now you’re a hero. I’ll be pointing to you as an example of what it is to be a good man as my son grows up - courageous, principled, feminist, and self-sacrificing.

Glinner has had so much taken from him, and I have the utmost respect for him for not backing down, that's real courage. For me personally in the most selfish sense of all, I hate what they did to Glinner because its deprived me of more of his comedy genius. Father ted and The IT Crowd stand out the most for me because they are favourites.
Behind all of the outrage at what they have done to kids, women, and gay people, I hate what they did in taking Graham's talent away from us. Laughter is good for the soul, and to deny people laughter seems so malicious and evil to me. I hate these people, they literally take the fun out of life.

Waitingfordoggo · 12/04/2024 13:19

Just another voice adding to the chorus of ‘Thank You’ to @Glinner. I’m truly sorry for what you have lost in the course of this battle, but will be forever grateful.

MariaMeringue · 12/04/2024 13:19

@Glinner Thank you for always standing up for women and vulnerable children, despite the sacrifices you had to make to do so. It was so unjust that trying to do such a good thing by raising awareness of the irreversible damage caused by trans ideology came at such personal and professional cost to you. I'm so glad the tide has turned at last and I hope you can now successfully resume your comedy career. Your courage (and JKR's) will be remembered when this appalling period in our history is looked back on by future generations.

Another one also hoping that Father Ted the Musical can now be made

allnewfor2024 · 12/04/2024 13:32

Glad to see that I'm not the only one whose response to the Cass report was 'can we have the Father Ted musical now?'.
It wasn't my first response, but one of the first twenty! I find a moment of light humour can be fortifying.
Sorry to trivialise - this whole issue has had such severe consequences for so many, and I am so grateful to all those grown ups who were prepared to put everything on the line to prepare the ground for the truth to emerge. Graham is of course in that group.

Glinner abú!!! 😄

Nightingalenight · 12/04/2024 14:38

Thank you @Glinner - it was a TRA hashtag using your name on Twitter that made me, in the first place, take an interest in the whole mess we've been in. I couldn't understand why someone who understands so keenly how groupthink works (eg, 'I hear you're a Nazi now, Father') could be described in such vicious language. It only took moments before I was at the top of the mountain and I've been donating to crowdfunders, lobby groups and Substacks, writing furious letters, joining groups and listening to podcasts ever since. You've made activists of us all!

Graham, you are a truly remarkable, decent, honest, courageous man and thank you for continuing to speak out, throughout some horrible treatment and at personal cost.Flowers

Teddleshon · 12/04/2024 15:03

@LunaandLily gosh couldn’t you at least try a little bit to hide how much you obviously despise women?

Feckedupbundle · 12/04/2024 15:04

I'd like to add my thanks too. Both for the laughs and the courage.
