Stonewall states that “misgendering” isn’t a crime

PriOn1 · 04/04/2024 06:07

In an astonishing twist, Stonewall has stated that correctly sexing men is not a crime.

They are, of course, only admitting this now it’s been made very clear by Police Scotland’s reaction to JK Rowling.

They said nothing over the years as women were chucked off social media, for correctly sexing men. Not sure if anyone was actually arrested for only doing it, but they have allowed the fear to fester on and on, leading to chilling of free speech.

What a bunch of weasels they are.

Looks like the tail is longer in the stoat!
And I’m shocked at the size of those ferrets.

Was it weasel that was farmed not far from my house for fur some decades ago I wonder? It was mayhem when some activists released them all and the poor animals proceeded to wipe out much of our Bird population. It’s taken this long for some of them to recover.

I realise I’m terrible for derailing threads. I do apologize.

Edited

Weasels are tiny- the one I saw was only about 6-7 inches (including her tail) and her babies were like little buttons.

Stoats are bigger than I'd realised I found when one of our cats killed one, and they're much stockier and chunkier.

I've had friends who kept and worked ferrets, and they can be pretty big, especially the holts (males), and even when they are neutered they stink to high heaven.

I've once seen a Pine Marten - it was chasing a rabbit, but seemed to be round about stoaty size.

I would recommend anyone hoping to catch a glimpse of any of these to get themselves to Scotland - that's where I've seen everything except the stoat (and the ferrets - they were in hutches in a friend's shed . . . stinky hutches in a stinky shed . . . )

It was probably mink.
Now I have to Google the difference between weasel and mink!

It WAS a fashion to have weasels (or mink) as pets. I Wonder why that stopped?

Wolverine is a mustelid. Whaddaya know!

Because the fuckers can take your finger off in less than a heartbeat and aren't as amenable to becoming tamed as ferrets are, I expect.

I've been bitten by a ferret- it hurts like hell.

I've never been close enough to a mink to get bitten, except my Horrible Nana's fur coat, and a couple of times when I've seen one dashing across a road in Scotland.

So do I @MarieDeGournay

I live for some of the derails - they so often lighten the mood in threads that would otherwise be very heavy., emotionally. (Or have already been derailed by someone with an agenda - usually gets rid of these)

misscockerspaniel · 04/04/2024 10:57

Stonewall is biding its time until the general election puts the mealy-mouthed Labour Party into power. It will then use the statute book to douse us. Or rather, try to douse us.

Our fight is far from won.

I agree. I'm terrified that the choice is between action on climate change and women's rights. And given the seriousness of the risks to women's (and children's) rights, do I seriously have to vote against action on climate change? F@$king Greens are totally gender woo. The left has completely abandoned women and children.

I agree that a bit of levity is usually welcome - but I drew the line at Tunnocks in another thread - I think it was you who provided me with a photo of the obscure confectionary items, ESV? I had lots of responses buzzing around my head but it was such a serious thread even I felt it would be inappropriate to make a meal of the Tunnocks, so to speak. So I take this oppo to thank you for the introduction to the Mythical [to me] Tunnock.
They look like chocolatey biscuity marshmallowy thingies, and TBH ... um... not my kinda thing. I'd just lick all the chocolate off and ignore the other bits.
Is that heresy? Will I now be blocked from ever posting on MN again? Or are you all rubbing your hands and saying 'Triff, more Tunnocks for us then'?
But thank you, it's good to know what ye're all salivating over when you mention themSmile

Emotionalsupportviper · 05/04/2024 11:28

We are very forgiving @MarieDeGournay , and will allow you your likes and dislikes no matter how ridiculous and irrational, especially, as you say, when it means more Tunnocks for us!

I'm not sure I did provide the obscure confectionery - I think you may be crediting me with something I didn't do, but I honestly can't recall - what with weasels, knitting, Tiunnocks, biscuits, lemon drizzle cake etc, I cannot be definite.

MarieDeGournay · 05/04/2024 11:36

Phew! I'm glad the availability of the Tunnock was the deciding factor in your response to my heresy. Further proof to the doubters that MN is NOT an echo-chamber, heck they even allow criticism of Tunnocks!
Sorry if it was not you who posted the photo - I should really have gone back to check the thread/poster, but I'm too lazy. And it seemed an ESVish thing.
But I may have wrongly attributed it.
Anyway, bon appétit, all you Tunnock-fanciers, 'tous les goûts sont dans la nature', innit?

Emotionalsupportviper · 05/04/2024 11:42

No worries - going through threads can be very time-consuming.

And it might have been me - I put all sorts of stuff on - I honestly can't recall (I hope it was - I'd be thrilled to have posted something memorable).

You keep Tunnocks Teacakes* in stock for Scots/Scottish S'mores. You pop them on a campfire/barbecue in their foil and serve.

We should all get ourselves to Scotland and mess up their shoddy law whilst going mustelid spotting!!

There used to be a site called Pimp My Snack where students ignoring imminent deadlines would , in the comfort of their student kitchens, make very large versions of their favourite treats. I remember the Tunnocks one because they spent a lot of time getting the silver foil right as was right and proper.

While I am here I once saw a weasel running alongside a road in Suffolk. It was like a tiny horizontal rocket of orange fur. I also once met saw a hedgehog wandering down the middle of the road in an Islington back street.

Yes - they are much brighter in real life than you would think.

Foxes are as well.

Dogs unearthed a mole yesterday and I put it on the side of the track , in the grass. Sadly it was still there this morning, dead as a Scottish Hate Act - probably shock.

My only consolation was that it was a male, and therefore no chance of it having left a nest full of babies. That had been worrying me sick. (At the time I just hoped to get the poor thing to safety and didn't check its bits - if fact I hope I didn't misgender it, as I never bothered with its chromosomes - it was just assigned male at death based on its physiology.)

Edit for spelling. Twice. And once more for grammar.

It’s an offence to disclose a person’s transgender status if you are in possession of that information in a professional capacity (eg as their healthcare professional or their employer).

What if you are "in possession" of the knowledge because you happened to go to school with "Chloe" when they were "Colin" and lighting their farts in the playground ?

Well if no part of your professional role involved having dealings with them, then I don’t see how that non-disclosure rule would apply to you.

Re derails - all the Nature Notes are making me go awwww, thank you for your lovely descriptions of the various little bundles of musteloid fur [I'm assuming that's the adjective; somebody on MN will know for sure] you have encountered.
I'm saying nothing about the Tks, I know not to push it...😁

Chersfrozenface · 05/04/2024 17:56

'Musteloid' is an adjective and a noun, so you're correct, @MarieDeGournay.
