Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Well done that woman. That is courage, integrity and sisterhood right there

lechiffre55 · 02/04/2024 17:34

I love that JKR said this ;
"If they go after any woman for simply calling a man a man, I'll repeat that woman's words and they can charge us both at once."
No sweeping her under the carpet :)

Justnot · 02/04/2024 17:37

It makes it nice and clear that you can call a man a man (well hopefully I guess we have to wait and see a bit) cos we all know how confused everyone is

AReasonablePerson · 02/04/2024 17:39

A Reasonable Person says you can call a man a man. It is good news and sunlight on the issues is bright and revealing.

Fabulous woman!

DesparatePragmatist · 02/04/2024 17:48

I have LOVED watching this unfold

Boiledbeetle · 02/04/2024 17:49

One woman singlehandedly makes a mockery of the new Hate Crimes rubbish!

💜

FizzingAda · 02/04/2024 17:50

Would love to see Humza's face!!

Augarden · 02/04/2024 18:00

The TRAs who were salivating thinking of reporting every wrongthink must be gutted. I'm sure that will be memory-holed in favour of "there was never any issues, those silly radfems were just being hysterical."

ArabellaScott · 02/04/2024 18:05

She's brilliant. I am steadfastly not going to think about where we'd be without her.

GretaGip · 02/04/2024 18:10

Thank you for being above the parapet for all those who couldn't be.

Lanore · 02/04/2024 18:12

JK can get more political work done with a tweet than any current politician does in a year.

I wish someone could persuade her to stand for election. She’d be the best Prime Minister ever. And imagine meetings with other countries’ political leaders - they all grew up idolising her!

They also know if they had gone after even one tweet she'd have probably bankrupted the Scottish Government and Police Scotland by the end of the court case!

CatLevelCare · 02/04/2024 18:20

I am in awe of her. Not only for what she has done, but for the foresight of going first, to protect all the women less able to fight this bill.
Because, without her, the police definitely would have been dragging women out of their houses for thinking the 'wrong' thing.
They've done it already.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 02/04/2024 18:22

She's played this brilliantly.
Bu it's not over. All that Stonewall / trans training will encourage certain biased officers to try their luck and target various women. But there's back up and world wide publicity. Plus the population understanding that we don't have to accept being silenced, women's rights eradicated and children's safety dismantled.
We can speak out.

Of all the things JKR has written, this is one of my favourites. 💜💚🤍 The absolute queen.

Signalbox · 02/04/2024 18:28

The SNP could have avoided this whole embarrassing (for them) situation by making it very clear that misgendering or calling TW men would not become a criminal offence under the new law. It was clear from the start that this is what activists were hoping for.

TooManyAnimals94 · 02/04/2024 18:28

The lecturer who said her comments are close to the line of 'encouraging abuse or violence ' ... interesting he didn't have a specific quote to back that up!

Toastednut · 02/04/2024 18:30

I say this on every JKR post but - what a legend. Incredible role model for women and girls (the real kind 😉)

lechiffre55 · 02/04/2024 18:31

Can I just point out JKR is not in Scotland currently.
Given how this law works JKR in being outside Scotland makes it much more complex to enforce, and even puts the law itself under considerable strain. There is a chance she will be responsable for having the law overturned/recinded.
She clearly has a gameplan, almost certainly run it past her lawyers, and she's publicly demonstrating just how much effort she intends to put into this.
When you come for the Queen you better not miss.
If only the SNP had put a little thought in of their own.........

devildeepbluesea · 02/04/2024 18:33

She’s absolutely fucking wonderful. I’m in total awe of her, I really am.

LouisePlease · 02/04/2024 18:35

Let me also repeat and promise

"If they go after any woman for simply calling a man a man, I'll repeat that woman's words and they can charge us both at once."

Talk about sisterly solidarity. : ). I didn’t think I could love that woman anymore, but I do!

OhcantthInkofaname · 02/04/2024 18:37

I am in the US and so totally grateful for her advocacy for women.
