Will Labour introduce Self ID & curb free speech?

I’ve never voted Tory, but as a lesbian woman who plans to have children (and obviously as a woman!) I am and will be part of the three groups most affected by Gender Ideology; women, lesbian and soon I hope a Mother. I am really worried about what happens when Labour takes power. The Tories have been rubbish no arguments there but at least they are finally moving against the steam rolling of Gender Ideology. I’m thinking Labour are not that fiscally different to the Tories and have said they will not cap bankers bonuses and they don’t intend to increase public spending in a significant way.

Really concerned about more gender identity clinics popping up under Labour and Keir Starmer possibly curbing free speech via so - called hate laws (in the feminist circle i run in we all agree this is a euphemism for silencing women about men in female prisons, rape shelters and other areas where women are vulnerable).

It’s pretty straightforward. Owen Jones says he believes that men who claim to be women are actually women. He also says he believes that men who claim to be women should be entitled to compete in women’s sporting events. He also calls women who disagree with him TERFs and transphobes. He also says that men who claim to be women are a sub category of women in the same way that black women are a sub category of women. This is all pretty misogynistic and in the last case a bit racist to boot.

No, we clearly don't have all the power and equality we need, but pursuing the TERF agenda won't help with any of that. It's all so trivial and designed to oppress trans people and put everyone in their place, rather than liberate women.

I think it's a bit clumsy, as while people have different intersecting aspects to their identities, women are women regardless of both race and trans/cis status. Talk of categorisation isn't useful. But he did not single out black women as different.

You are seemingly unaware of the racist trope of comparing black women to men. Or you are just being disingenuous.

Whichever it is, we both know that transwomen are not any kind of woman and are in fact a subset of men. Black women should not be dragged in to any argument to prop up some pathetic claim that twaw - they are not.

Nothing racist about comparing black women to trans women, as nothing negative about being a trans woman. Black women, white women, Asian women, Latina women, women with disabilities, neurodiverse women, neurotypical women, older women, younger women, cis women, trans women. All just different ways of being women. No value judgements involved.
