How the metro can put out this tweet which effectively suggests a woman shouldn't be allowed to speak is beyond me. Shocked but not surprised. Comments are heartening though, as is the ratio.

I think JKR has spent a lot of time not rising to the bait, but patience has (understandably) worn thin.

There’s only so many times you can put up with someone calling you evil, a witch, ‘joking’ about abducting you (which resulted in a police visit) and blaming you for other people’s crimes.

I actually think it is deliberate. Yes IW has baited her but she is extremely intelligent and knows that the time is now to call a spade a spade (as it were).

The fact that IW is not legally 'female' will be part of the decision, as is the fact that IW is demonstrably misogynistic and homophobic & transphobic in tweets about other trans identifying males.

The fact that JKRs 'transphobia' is being called out for speaking the truth rather than IW's overt misogyny and homophobia & transphobia can only be because she is a woman rather than a protected class of male.

The fact that we are having to watch our language on this tread when it comes to pronouns around IW means that we still can't speak the truth. JKR is paving the way for correctly sexing these males, and every day I admire her more and more.

IW says that IW has a GRC?

So IW has, for legal purposes, become the opposite sex to their biological sex.

I know that it’s a legal fiction, you know that it’s a legal fiction, what a mess the GRA creates.

I forget the details, but the Equality Act basically foresaw this whole shitstorm and was written to account for all this. It kept it legal to sex segregate certain things such as sport; a GRC might make you legally female but you'd never be biologically female and there would be some times when that mattered.

I'll need to read up on it again but basically it was written to prevent this whole clusterfuck from happening. It intended to give trans people with a GRC their rights without fucking women over and it did the job well.

A friends son has recently come out as trans. I pretty much said this to a mutual friend to watch out for it happening and being there to support as I can't say it direct. Friend is very accepting, but we've already seen her running low on patience with certain things.

Its behaviour not identity that ultimately is the marker and the issue. And things you wouldn't otherwise accept but somehow tolerate in the name of being kind, and then instead are metaphorically punched in the face repeatedly, that makes you realise that theres a deeper problem at hand.

The EA needs to be updated to make biological sex a protected characteristic.

This would keep eg. Female sports, toilets, changing facilities, dv centres, prisons etc etc male free. They will be labelled female (biological sex) only, and no one could argue.
