How the metro can put out this tweet which effectively suggests a woman shouldn't be allowed to speak is beyond me. Shocked but not surprised. Comments are heartening though, as is the ratio.

Seems that IW can misgender with impunity, but gets most offended when someone returns the favour.

Any middle aged white man who posted the same as IW on twitter would have been cancelled by everyoneyears ago.

See my earlier point about Laurence Fox. Not that I'm a fan of his but I genuinely don't think he's ever gone nearly as far as IW.

Protection provided mainly by men. Because these men want women’s rights to disappear. It is of benefit to them to silence women. If we look at it through that lens - we can see clearly, that it is not shocking at all.

That's because trans = most marginalised, and once you're the most marginalised, then you're only ever "punching up" which is allowed.

Why on Earth is she calling Helen Joyce a "child pornography reader"?

HJ did some research on the crossover of fanfic culture and trans identification of girls. This involved some reading of said fanfics, which are often sexual in nature.

Some bloke on a train took a photo of her on her phone, apparently on one of these fanfic pages (specifically a Harry Potter one) and posted it all over X and on a blog saying HJ was addicted to child pornography... as if it were some kind of gotcha moment (when in fact it was one of the most straw-clutching desperate attempts at smearing someone I've ever seen).

A creepy man gleefully started a goady thread a few days ago, which rapidly became a thread doily, then was taken down.

He'd seen Helen Joyce on a train (claimed he initially didn't recognise her), used his phone to zoom in on and photograph what she was reading (not stalky and creepy at all) and rushed to publish. He said it was Harry Potter fanfic, some of which can be extremely pornographic.

Tldr Google Helen Joyce fanfic, she's got an interesting article about it, mentions the creep in passing.

Imagine if a member of the Royal Family or a Tory MP posted that image with the frumpy comments and implications that lesbians are actually men.

Ultimately this is what made me see through the shit show on a personal level. I wasn't prepared to tolerate behaviour that was unacceptable and was derogatory and abusive.

Willoughby is a common or garden playground bully. The name-calling of lesbians based on their appearance is what you'd expect from an insecure teenage boy, or a sulky incel still living with his mum in his 20s.
