"A FEMINIST campaigner is to open the UK’s first lesbian members bar that will only allow biological women to join.

The bar, named the L Community, is due to open in London later this year and will operate as a private members club so that it can bar trans women.

The bar has been set up by Jenny Watson, who in September last year was at the centre of a transphobia row after she insisted only “adult human females” could attend the lesbian speed-dating events she had organised."

One. Out of all the times in the world that women have used public toilets and you have found one case.

I have not once said that this club should not exist, merely than trans-exclusionary lesbians are rare.

Can you set up a private club for exclusively heterosexual men, banning gay men and all women ?. I mean, nobody would object to that !.

And yet TW were determined to get in to the lesbian events previously arranged by Jenny and as per usual threatened and abused not only Jenny but the venues Jenny hired.

I like the idea of associate membership, open to anyone, consisting of a card, and access to a news page of their website.

Of course it's open to criticism. Patronising. Smug. Suggesting that you can sponsor a lesbian like you can sponsor an endangered tiger. And Jenny Watson is just trying to do right by her client group, not transform society.

Still, allowing the free market to signal its degree of adherence to the TRA narrative can only be good, because it stops them lying that everyone either buys it or doesn't care.

I think support from straight women would be very much welcomed, but let the Lesbians decide for themselves what they need. There will be a shout out I'm sure if and when.

The support for Jenny through all of this from everyone has been tremendous. I can only speak for myself. I'd just like to be able to go somewhere for a drink or a coffee and a bit of a laugh knowing that I can relax with other Lesbians. I used to be able to do that I when I was younger but there is nothing for us now.

It's not much to ask is it? Yet the ploppers are arriving already chuddering on about heterosexual men. They just can't bear to let us have a little space for Lesbians let alone spaces for Woman - Lesbian Bi or Straight.

I gave you three easily found examples of people being attacked because people thought they were trans. There are many, many more.

There are many lesbian events in London, and they are almost all trans inclusive. According to Watson, this means all the attendees are wrong about what a lesbian is. To give one single example, the Mint Party hosts 600+ at each event. We'll see just how right or wrong she is soon enough.

When we want an event for lesbians ONLY, there are shrieks of transphobia and attempts to close the venue down.

ONE venue exclusively for Lesbians as a private members club doesn't affect all the other venues which are trans inclusive. Each to their own.

I can't think of anywhere outside London (Manchester?) where I can go and socialise with Lesbians only. Lesbians who are adult human females that is.

I see the MRAs have quickly reminded us that bad things happen to female people who dare to say no to male people.

ONE single solitary space. Just one. And immediately up they pop, little misogynist jack in a boxes.

I'll add that if a butch lesbian does find themselves mistaken for a male and refused entry, even after a quiet conversation with the organisers who fail, somehow to be able to distinguish a female to the point they feel comfortable that they are, then well, there's the many many other facilities freely available in the area.

It is not a reason to deprive all female lesbians from a male only space. It is not the job of women to fix all problems for everyone to 100% proof, and to male satisfaction, to be allowed a bloody inch of earth to themselves where those males cannot stuff their sticky little whiny beaks.

No there's not. HOWEVER, there are many, MANY, instances of women being raped, sexually assaulted, physically assaulted, verbally abused by transwomen. Many. It's all over youtube. There's videos, there's evidence, so don't you dare deny it. Why, WHY do you demand that lesbians absolutely are not allowed to have an event where they can feel completely SAFE? What is so wrong with you that you can't even allow them one. Single. Space? Why are you so homophobic that you deny same-sex attraction? Lesbians don't want penis. Get over it.

Of course their will be more people at a 'trans inclusive' event, there are many more hetrosexuals after all.

The fundamental issue seen on every thread - why can't women have anything of their own, any space of their own, any right to say no to men?

Well partly its the joy of coercively controlling and bullying, but the misogyny is 'wtf is the point of a woman if she's not being useful to a man?'. They're walking tools. Sex toys, enablers, the only possible relevance of a woman is in how she's serving a man.

It's so pathetic.

The lesbians I know wouldn't want to be part of this simply because they don't share those values of exclusionary attitudes towards trans people, and you want to spend time, build friendships and potential relationships with people who share similar values to yourself, generally.

They don’t have to go then.

Just the same as I don’t go to the Spanish class as I don’t want to learn Spanish and I’m not a member of the bowls club as I don’t enjoy bowling.
That doesn’t mean I don’t think either of those things shouldn’t exist.
