Remember the hooha when the story came out (not sure if it was true) of Toyah Wilcox presenting her husband with her (preserved) amputated pinky toe (I don’t remember the details but don’t think it was some sort of voluntary memento).

In America they have to refrigerate eggs because they are "washed" before sale which takes off the protective bloom. They do this because of poor sanitation where they are farmed. Same as with the actual chickens.

I don't know the common protocol for storing testes though. 😂

I thought you weren’t supposed to wash eggs. My sister has chickens and I remember her saying this. Something about the shells being porous maybe?

Eggs have a protective coating. If you leave that on they’re sealed and can be stored at room temperature. If you wash it off they become porous and need to be stored in the fridge. American eggs are washed pre sale.

Biological specimens are preserved in formalin and are stable at room temperature.

I've just read this and came straight here to see if anyone had posted. There's so much going on there, the emotional support dog, the identifying as a Muslim woman, the testicles in the fridge.

When I grew up, my mum would wrap the eggs in newspaper individually and that was in the tropics. Mind you, we also learned to crack the egg in a cup to make sure that it wasn’t off (or didn’t have a chicken in it.). So I am not sure that it worked all that well.

I remember reading in a cookery book to crack eggs individually so that you could weed out the off ones and not spoil a while batch of cracked offs of you were cooking. It was a ration time cookery book so I guess people were very cautious back then.
