@OldCrone I treat the keep refrigerated on eggs the same way as I do on ketchup etc, I ignore it. As for the use by date on them that gets ignored too, I've always used the float test even on "fresh" ones

ResisterRex · 09/02/2024 11:36

I've never put them in the fridge (eggs, not severed balls, that is). And I don't refrigerate the ketchup either!

To be clear, I've never even handled severed balls. And have no plans to do so.

Helleofabore · 09/02/2024 11:37

Oh FFS! The keeping of one's balls in a jar like some demonic trophy seems to be common after all. Do these blokes think that they can have them reactivated and implanted back in?

OldCrone · 09/02/2024 11:39

Thanks for the reply @Hoardasurass.

I don't understand why some people think it's better to keep eggs out of the fridge, since they deteriorate faster at warmer temperatures. Why do you think it's better not to refrigerate?

TWETMIRF · 09/02/2024 11:41

I have balls in my fridge but they are left over chicken balls from last night's chinese that I will have for my lunch. Eggs are in the cupboard

MarieDeGournay · 09/02/2024 11:50

In Ireland in Days of Yore, women used to wrap eggs in cabbage leaves to bring them safely to market. Women used to use cabbage leaves to calm mastitis.
There! I've managed to link eggs with a pair of body parts, but not those ones😱

one.

2mummies1baby · 09/02/2024 11:58

I'm in the UK and refrigerate my eggs. Not my testes though.

ZuttZeVootEeeVo · 09/02/2024 12:00

Ive not tested, but im pretty sure my kitchen in colder than a under a hens nether regions. My mum is strictly eggs in fridge, im not. I cant tell the difference in taste.

I'll put my foot down if my husband thinks of putting his balls anywhere near my salad crisper.

User478 · 09/02/2024 12:00

One of the reasons they wash eggs in the states is to remove outer traces of salmonella because they also do not vaccinate their chickens.
It means that American egg boxes are usually plastic too as the humidity change would cause loads of condensation on the cold eggs and the cardboard packaging would go soggy and the eggs would all flop out.

The Human Tissue Authority says that you should be allowed to keep your own body parts unless it would represent a significant biohazard or public health issue, I think you probably have to discuss this with your surgeon before surgery.

AlisonDonut · 09/02/2024 12:13

That's quite enough internet for another day thank you very much.

Igmum · 09/02/2024 12:15

Genuinely interested to discover this about US eggs and hens. You gotta love Mumsnet.

All women have their testicles removed and kept in the fridge as proof they are a woman.

In my minds eye…
’you are going to do what??? haven’t got the balls!’
’well actually…’

Hoardasurass · 09/02/2024 12:19

@OldCrone my material granny and all my dad's family kept them in the "larder" (cupboard with an outside vent) but my mum always put them in the egg thingy in the fridge which regularly broke them and then you have to clean egg off the door and milk etc so I just went with what the rest of the family did and it works. Tbh I think my "larder" is colder than my fridge most days so 🤷‍♀️

Males are just very attached to their goolies.

scaredofff · 09/02/2024 12:21

When did he have the surgery? And how long were they in that man's fridge? Just wondering how long long they lasted

Of course they're going to decompose at some point (boak!!)

Twoshoesnewshoes · 09/02/2024 10:24

I keep my eggs in the fridge.

i asked for my appendix when it was removed but it had already been incinerated 🙁
also asked my DH to keep his hip joint after hip replacement but they said no!!

I want allowed to keep my wisdom tooth to scare show the kids. ☹️

JanesLittleGirl · 09/02/2024 12:37

I'm pretty sure that they keep their balls in the fridge at Wimbledon. It's to give them a consistent bounce.

ArabellaScott · 09/02/2024 12:42

Angrymum22 · 09/02/2024 09:33

The Chinese eunuchs who served the emperor in the Imperial Palace kept their testes in jars. As Buddhists they kept any body part removed in order that they could be buried/cremated whole for reincarnation purposes I think. Also they were proof of their running status if they were moving from one area of service to another.

Sort of like a bollocks shaped P45?

I can't stop laughing ...

nothingcomestonothing · 09/02/2024 12:51

Plenty to consider here, but this quote from the sheriff visit is a favourite:

Ms. Kingsley failed to retrieve the testicles from the refrigerator at that time... If they were so important to her, she had the opportunity to grab them, and she didn't.'

Something something not grabbing your balls when you had the chance something.

I remember reading in a cookery book to crack eggs individually so that you could weed out the off ones and not spoil a while batch of cracked offs of you were cooking. It was a ration time cookery book so I guess people were very cautious back then.

I still do!
Just as I would never break an egg directly into a cake mixture, always via a mug first.

The timescale is covered in the streaming video of the hearing which is upthread (first one) but I don't remember.

Eggs is Russian slang for testes.

And apparently, the nut's nuts were mouldering in the fridge and the other fella binned them.

SidewaysOtter · 09/02/2024 13:02

I’ve never refrigerated eggs and regularly use them past their “best before” date. If they are significantly past the date I float test them, otherwise I crack each one slightly to check it’s OK.

If using several eggs at once or adding them to a cake mix or similar, ALWAYS crack into a bowl first so as not to contaminate the whole thing if an egg is off. Even ones which have passed the float test sometimes aren’t right and I’m not wasting expensive ingredients!

Maybe THIS is what’s meant by being gender fluid. Some days you pop your bollocks back in, other days you leave ‘em in the fridge with the left-over pizza.
