'Coming Out' should be consigned to history

I read this article yesterday and I've been thinking about it since because I found it interesting

I'm not a believer in 'bringing your whole self to work'. Some people's 'whole selves' could be quite detrimental to work. Conversely parts of someone's 'whole self' is none of works business. I might be extreme though, if I could have kept being pregnant from work I would have done.

That said, it's nice to have the option but I wish we were at the stage where being LGB is something completely unremarkable. Which got me thinking about the T and how that differs to sexual orientation. I think it's summed up by, MN permitting 👀, if a guy puts on a dress in the woods and there's no-one around, is he really trans?

@Howtheweeshtwaswon

I'm asking if coming out is a real problem in 2024. Not an unreasonable question really.

And you've been told, by me and several others, that it can be, and as a result is always a slightly stressful experience.

Asking questions and genuinely listening to the answers is fine. Telling gay people what they should and shouldn't find homophobic, and telling them what the most homophobic issue is in 2024 in the UK, is not fine. Just as I'm sure you wouldn't find it acceptable if a man was lecturing to you about women's experience of sexism.

" Telling gay people what they should and shouldn't find homophobic, and telling them what the most homophobic issue is in 2024 in the UK, is not fine."

I'd hope anyone reading this thread will see I'm not telling gay people" anything. And "gay people" are not a monolith - as illustrated on this very thread.

As for issues with TQ culture, I know quite a few gay people who find it homophobic, and was asking, perhaps unclearly (as I'm still working out my own thoughts) on how prevalent this attitude was. And is this pushback about 'coming out at work" more about sacred castes, enforced beliefs (pronouns) and indoctrination into gender ideology (which has been cleverly entwined with gay rights) - rather than the vast majority of people actually giving two hoots about sexual orientation?

As someone who is being bullied - with apparent impunity - by LGBT staff members who take umbrage to questions around gender ideology and safeguarding, I do find the incongruence hard to get my head round ie the fear staff members have of voicing disagreement with powerful LGBT+ networks - which suggests the general culture isn't anti-gay at all. (NOTE my emphasis - not saying homophobia doesn't exist so please stop twisting my words)

Stonewall's Nancy Kelly called lesbians sexual racists for not including men in their dating pool. Yeah, I see that as homophobic - not sure why you think I shouldn't have an option on that. Or why you don't. I also have an opinion on 'transing away the gay'. Safeguarding is everybody's business.

You'll forgive me for now stepping away from discussion with you. I don't type this much to people I actually like.
