I just want to thank all these women for speaking out for women despite the obstacles put in their place. It's getting easier for the rest of us now.

Thanks to KJK for starting international dialogues and Elaine Miller for standing for election.

Marvellous, knowledgeable, courageous women.

I was absolutely disgusted by how she was treated in NZ. Made me determined never to visit that backwater.

quantumbutterfly · 28/01/2024 11:06

tbf that's another way of putting us back in our boxes. I would go to NZ in a heartbeat if given the opportunity, wonderful country, wonderful people.

We talk of courage but let a few TRA's keep us away.

They're not exactly the taliban.

Ooh ooh ooh. A Twitter one

And for the historic tweet itself

I am eternally thankful to Dis_Critc as she gave us

WOMEN WON'T WHEESHT

That phrase has been registered as a for profit company by women who are not Dis Critic.

There are a few phrases apropriated - so WWW makes me cringe now.

Dammit...can still wear purple, green and white though.

I fear that there are quite a few similarities in the way that they view women.

They are the Traliban at the very least?

A gay bar in London has a I❤️JKR flag up. 🤷‍♀️

A Gay bar in Stratford East London does too! X

Igmum · 28/01/2024 13:19

And all the incredibly well-informed women of Mumsnet who keep plugging away with their knowledge of facts. Sheroes every one.

Can I join you in the snorers' tent @Boiledbeetle and @Zebracat? Will bring Ginand naice tonic in case we get parched after the terf bar has closed for the night.

Rainbowshit · 28/01/2024 13:25

Reem Alsalem, UN Special Rapporteur on violence against women has lent her voice on several occasions.

redfacebigdisgrace · 28/01/2024 13:30

Did we get Kemi Badenoch in? She’s been instrumental. And Janice Turner in The Times.

Zebracat · 28/01/2024 13:34

Riley Gaines. So hard to do what she did.

AlisonDonut · 28/01/2024 13:57

Can I add to the long list Edie Wyatt and Kit Kowalski in Australia who do a weekly podcast which goes in depth on fascinating topics from an analytical feminist liberal angle, but never get anywhere near the reach that others get. Latest edition on You Tube below:

Also another shout out to Isla Mac who teams up with with Robbie Travers, an old uni buddy of the late Magdalen Burns [who was instrumental in calling out this nonsense], who spends time going through proposals in great depth to help formulate your thinking. Latest issue, the Schools Guidance is below:

Ep 40: Ask Us Anything

We discuss a few local issues and go on to address some questions people are asking Notes on Substackhttps://open.substack.com/pub/welcometothedollhouse/p/ep...

Also another man but there are a few on here - Ricky Gervais for bringing the laughable ridiculousness of it all to a wider audience.

Riley Gaines. So hard to do what she did.

Indeed. So young and so eloquent, she should have a bright future.

All the Black women on Lipstick Alley's Feminist Forum.

Genevieve Gluck. That woman likely has PTSD from the kind of journalism digging she does, she must have platinum status frequent flier miles for how many times she has to fly into Malaga Airport.

From 'cool as fuck' Auntie Jo Phoenix's substack (I don't know why the text is so large, sorry).

Just wanted to share a YouTube video from Magdalen Berns for anyone who may not have come across her before. She had razor-sharp intelligence and spotted the dangers of genderist ideology long before most people had any idea what was going on.

Re: What is a TERF?

In this video Magdalen Berns addresses the sexism driving the "terf" slur. Featuring key points made by Riley J Dennis' video "What is a TERF?" which explici...

Thanks to all the women who have put their heads above the parapet at great personal and professional risk so that other women don’t have to. And thanks to the male allies too. Jonathan Pie / Tom Walker was mentioned upthread, I didn’t know he had ever waded in?

Wetandhorrible · 28/01/2024 20:39

@CorruptedCauldron he has been at it more from a freedom of speech angle, but I remember the first time I saw this video the sense of relief I felt that someone I thought was a clear thinker hadn't bottled the basic step of thinking people expressing biological reality, and basic safeguarding, shouldn't be called bigots. It was a bit bleak at the time, there had been what felt like a few false dawns of push back,so getting a laugh at the same time as reassurance was good. And he's great live, for the record 👍

The resistance is far behind here in Oz and most of us are keeping a low profile. But we are finding each other, talking, building networks, and doing what we can within our own spheres of influence.

Those who have stuck their heads about the parapets: Katherine Deves, Moira Deeming, and Claire Chandler.

Would love a TERF bar! Or just the right to meet publicly to be honest...
