So I was reading through health site named above for advice on eating during pregnancy and as the next topic was ‘can men get pregnant?’

this quote in the article actually annoyed me very much:

’As Kaci points out, “There’s nothing inherently feminine or womanly about conception, pregnancy, or delivery. No body part, nor bodily function, is inherently gendered. If your body can gestate a fetus, and that’s something you happen to want — then it’s for you, too.”

the fact that pregnancy etc is now being basically stripped from women too is concerning! Am I being unreasonable???

It’s complete madness. Pregnancy and childbirth is the most female thing you can do

YANBU.

HoneyButterPopcorn · 04/01/2024 20:27

Does that mean women can get testicular cancer then ?

viques · 04/01/2024 20:33

Dear Lord. There are no words. Apart from the ones above that have been stitched together by an idiot. “Nothing inherently feminine or womanly about conception”

Nope, nothing at all which is why so many men get worried when their periods are late and their moobs feel a bit tender.

“ What’s wrong Jim, you look a bit worried?”

“ The thing is Harry, I had unprotected sex with my girl friend a few weeks ago, and I think I might be pregnant.”

” Well Jim, the first thing to do is to take a test. Then you can think about the next steps. It’s early days, so if you are pregnant and don’t want to be, there is time to do something about it. And try not to worry, you won’t be the first chap this has happened to, and you won’t be the last”

”Cheers Harry mate, I feel a bit better now. You are my best bro for a reason. Fancy a game of darts?”

I wish you could block certain sites when doing Google searches as I hated getting healthline and some other US sites coming up when doing searches about my pregnancy.

StephanieSuperpowers · 04/01/2024 20:39

Thick-o-rama. Imagine having to pretend you didn't say something that idiotic when this whole lunacy ebbs away.

Rightsraptor · 04/01/2024 20:41

This crap has been going on for some time.

Who is this 'Kaci'? Saying 'points out' rather implies Kaci is imparting evidence-based facts, and not the pile of animal ordure s/he is actually spouting. Kaci 'suggests' or 'opines' might be better. It'd still be a crock of shit but at least it wouldn't be so arrogant.

And I wonder how Kaci is defining feminine, womanly & gendered. Because conception, pregnancy, delivery, some body parts and some bodily functions are most definitely sexed.

How can we know if our bodies are capable of gestating a fetus if we have no accuracy about sex, if we can't use accurate words for anatomy and physiology?

Shedmass8 · 04/01/2024 20:45

Ugh. It actually scares me that we're at the point where science has become politicised, and you can't even trust healthcare professionals and scientists to not have an agenda.

Men and women are DIFFERENT.

Childbearing is intrinsically a female act.

PriOn1 · 04/01/2024 20:47

I’ve had a lot of negative life experiences at the hands of men, because I’m a woman. The one massive benefit of being female was that I got to give birth to our children, with all the intimacy and love that brought.

Giving birth is the most female thing I’ve ever done and the single thing in my life when my body did something a man’s could never do.

They can fuck right off with their appropriation and selfishness. If you give birth, you’re a woman. I can understand the anger that made Kellie-Jay KM say those women trying to steal this experience from women and make it about their stupid pretence of being male should sterilise themselves.

anythinginapinch · 04/01/2024 20:51

And yet my town is plastered with "1 in ten men get prostate cancer" posters.
Which i want to amend to "semen-generators" but im aware people might think i am genuine. Fucking loathe trans rights activists and the consequences of their bullying.

The mother's role in the first few years of a child's life is absolutely critical for that child's mental health outcomes. It is a BIOLOGICAL bond that is exclusively shared between the mother and child. The mother plays a crucial role in the social and emotional development of a child's brain. It is the mother who provides the child with emotional security. From moment to moment, the mother helps to regulate the baby's emotions. At the end of these first few years, the baby internalises what the mother has given them, enabling them to do these things for themselves for the rest of their lives.

The father plays his own important role, but a man can never be a mother.

howdoesatoastermaketoast · 04/01/2024 20:55

only if you redefine the word men and or pregnant

caringcarer · 04/01/2024 21:07

FFS it's just madness.

Allthatglittersisntart · 04/01/2024 21:14

I think Ill insist my DP does the next pregnancy. Being male is clearly no excuse!

Anontocomment · 04/01/2024 21:16

Jesus fucking christ. I was doing dry january but this complete and utter shitfuckery makes me want a drink. Since when can men get pregnant? Hold on, just going to ask hubs d&d group (responses may be edited to remove excessive swearing) .....

So. The 4 bearded 50-somethings are currently trying to locate the correct jaw to reattatch. All have refused to produce siblings for existing children. Apparently they all lack something called a 'womb' which they were led to believe is a purely female part of the anatomy. I said that if I'd realised they could do it, hubs could have had the miscarriages instead of me, or at least taken his turn!

All joking aside, if they are a Trans Man (i.e. F to M) then they no longer want to be a woman, so why want to get pregnant ffs? Going the other way I have some sympathy for their wanting to be a parent but just either foster or adopt. Plenty of 'traditional' gay men do that.

Of course, the real irony of that website is that in far too many U.S. states, real, so-called 'CIS-gender' women aren't allowed autonomy over their reprodutive organs when it comes to birth control so if men really do want to go through all the hassle of periods, pregnancy and all that, let them experience the 'sorry, we know the foetus is dead / has a condition which means it cannot survive outside the womb / is in your fallopian tube which is rupturing and could kill you but we aren't going to operate as you're just carrying it and it has more right to life than you' yes I might be bloody angry at a law which just passed in a group of the mid-western states

I need a large brandy.

PuttingDownRoots · 04/01/2024 21:20

It isn't gendered... its SEXED. Sex matters in medicine. Its basic biology.

Your womb doesn't care what you wear, what you are called, your hobbies etc all the parts of gender. Just your chromosomes.

Which is why definitions matter.

See, we all read this and think 'bollocks to that'.

Kids, teenagers, read this and think 'oh, wow'.

I was wondering who the Kaci referred to in the article was, rather than the author.

Kaci appears to have had a baby before becoming a TM. It’s almost as if having a double mastectomy and taking T didn’t alter Kaci’s sex from that of the one that produces large gametes 🤔

Zeugma · 04/01/2024 23:34

There’s a very ‘WTF?’ expression on that baby’s face.

ErrolTheDragon · 05/01/2024 09:07

Jfc.

It's sexed, and pregnancy - the fact that only women can give birth - underlies much of structural sexism and is the cause of much 'gendering' in society.

Sure, you don't have to be 'feminine' , but that's completely unimportant to anyone except yourself really.
