Trans woman named as UK champion for Women's Rights by the UN....

Outrage as trans woman picked by UN to be 'UK champion' for women's rights (msn.com)

"I will use this role to further advocate for the progress, safety, inclusion and empowerment of all women and girls, of all communities and identities.
"I will continue to draw attention to the systemic and social impact of misogyny, transphobia and gender-based inequality within the UK — in order to help provide data and insight that contributes to forming tangible methods of tracking and countering it." (Munroe Bergdorf)

Really?
How's that going to work then, when you don't like women talking about their own fucking bodies and call it crap like "gatekeeping" and "biological essentialism" etc.

Also quoted as saying anyone can be a woman.

How are you going to fight for their rights if you can't IDENTIFY what they are and anyone can be one?

Actually, they should just identify their way out of oppression and inequality, shouldn't they?
After all, it's that easy apparently.

The UN is going to woke itself into irrelevance.

Supersimkin2 · 03/01/2024 15:42

Munroe‘s expertise lies in male homosexuality and racism surely?

The memoir majors on being a rejected boy and the search for self-realisation through a personal visual
transition. It’s supposed to be very, very good.

It’s not about women’s issues or women’s challenges. Or misogyny.

I see my comment naming Bergdorf as male was deleted.

How many times can I do this before I am banned? And then is MN liable for curtailment of my rights in law?

Really? That is ridiculous?!

LondonLass91 · 03/01/2024 15:57

HootyMcBooby · 03/01/2024 14:15

By the way Mumsnet, we are PERMITTED BY LAW to state a biological truth, namely, that trans women are not women. They are men.
And that it a legally protected statement upheld in court.

Thank you.

User1775 · 03/01/2024 14:47

Bergdof is male, why was that deleted? What is the threshold? I am allowed to say Karen White is a man, I have said this many times. And my thread https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/womens_rights/4966716-4966716-woman-or-male-pervert was not deleted. Where is the line?

Perhaps the threshold is to do with the potential litigiousness of the person in question...

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 03/01/2024 16:01

...or at least the level of ruckus they are likely to raise if 'misgendered'.

EasternStandard · 03/01/2024 16:07

HootyMcBooby · 03/01/2024 14:44

I've also seen Bergdorf on some chat shows spouting the most misogynistic hateful drivel. They are not a very intelligent person despite having a "sympathy doctorate" from some university or other for "services to gender bollocks".

That’s why we need sex class boundaries to ensure we don’t have to put up with this kind of hatred and aggression in our own spaces

As for the UN wtf

shambolese · 03/01/2024 16:08

Trans model shouldn’t represent women, activists tell UN

www.thetimes.co.uk/article/trans-model-shouldnt-represent-british-women-un-told-nsr0j02wc

The comments on this article are all very Jo March (where is she these days?).

tedgran · 03/01/2024 16:12

I commented in the Times asking when a transman was going to be appointed to represent men!

That is an excellent question.

Hi @HelenFisksBrownSuit that wasn't the reason your post was deleted. We'll drop you a line with more info.

tobee · 03/01/2024 16:23

Be good if the rest of us could know the intricacies @BeckyAMumsnet

StephanieSuperpowers · 03/01/2024 16:23

Had a look at the times article. Seemed an excessive number of photos of Bergdof to me - it was almost like a promotion.

BeckyAMumsnet · 03/01/2024 16:28

@tobee we understand why - though we rarely repeat deleted posts and usually deal with anything that breaks TGs on an individual basis. Otherwise, it could all get a bit chaotic. Our guidelines are pretty clear on what we're likely to delete but you can always mail us if you're unsure or believe we're mistaken.

Where are these quotes from???

Those quotes are all statements Bergdorf has made publicly

HelenFisksBrownSuit · 03/01/2024 16:51

Hi @HelenFisksBrownSuit that wasn't the reason your post was deleted. We'll drop you a line with more info.

My post was deleted because I have written other posts that refuse to talk 'civilly' about men role-playing women in abusive or predatory ways. In other words, don't hurt the menz lady-feelz.

I am happy to stand by my comments, and I deplore MN for supporting these abusive men.

AmaryllisNightAndDay · 03/01/2024 17:17

I do wonder what the UN expect when they make these appointments. Quite apart from the sex/gender issue don't they first look at what a potenial "champion" has said and done in public to make sure they're not a foot-in-mouth kind of person?

Or do they just see their appointees through rose-tinted spectacles?

heathspeedwell · 03/01/2024 17:27

This male person was once a drag queen.

Putting on fishnet stockings and a thong to make fun of women seems to encourage some male people to think that they can actually be women.

I think this says more about men and their misogyny than it does about an existential womanly essence that certain special male people can possess.

viques · 03/01/2024 17:30

TrainedByCats · 03/01/2024 17:02

For anyone new here previous threads contain reasons for our concern at them being a spokesperson for women https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/womens_rights/3698942-munroe-bergdorf-again

Thanks for this little trip down memory ( or should that be mammary) lane. I had forgotten the debacle when Bergdorf was given the heave ho from the NSPCC as an ambassador for blatantly ignoring safeguarding guidelines and telling anxious and confused kids to contact them directly to get the benefit of their personal advice. Bodes well for someone now charged with supporting vulnerable women . I wonder if anyone told the UN about this unfortunate incident or if it has been expunged from Bergdorf’s cv.

I’m wondering why women need to be represented by a male who speaks with such hatred towards us he sounds close to the physical manifestation of that hatred

Waitwhat23 · 03/01/2024 17:39

It's been mentioned a few times before but it is odd that the guidelines linked by MNHQ which are titled 'Mumsnet moderation principles for discussions around gender identity and sex' have the following link title -
https://www.mumsnet.com/i/trans-rights-moderation-policy

In addition, item 2. states -

• We don’t allow posts which are derogatory or aggressive towards trans people. We believe there are ways to express both opinion and facts without crossing this line.

Not allowing posts which are derogatory or aggressive towards those with GC views is not mentioned. A strange anomaly.
