Outrage as trans woman picked by UN to be 'UK champion' for women's rights (msn.com)

"I will use this role to further advocate for the progress, safety, inclusion and empowerment of all women and girls, of all communities and identities.
"I will continue to draw attention to the systemic and social impact of misogyny, transphobia and gender-based inequality within the UK — in order to help provide data and insight that contributes to forming tangible methods of tracking and countering it." (Munroe Bergdorf)

Really?
How's that going to work then, when you don't like women talking about their own fucking bodies and call it crap like "gatekeeping" and "biological essentialism" etc.

Also quoted as saying anyone can be a woman.

How are you going to fight for their rights if you can't IDENTIFY what they are and anyone can be one?

Actually, they should just identify their way out of oppression and inequality, shouldn't they?
After all, it's that easy apparently.

Has the UN actually commented on the UK feedback yet?

Just find it so baffling that there seem to be no accountability at all?

It’s UN Women UK who have done the appointing afaik. They are a UK registered charity that fundraises and supports UN Women’s mandate with a UK board of trustees.

Not sure why the c&p didn’t work but the trustees are listed under the uk charity commission page, charity no 1162741

There are 34 million women in the UK.

34 MILLION.

Not one of us deemed worthy of the role. Not one of us good enough.

No, the best candidate for the job was a in my opinion homophobic, lesbophobic, misogynistic man.

If you know several of the UN Women UK, this is no surprise. In fact, it's predictable.

catduckgoose · 03/01/2024 22:37

Have UN Women UK done anything at all useful? Their page seems to be just social media and fundraising and awards ceremonies.

FKAT · 03/01/2024 22:42

Un Women - much like Fawcett, Time's Up and Women's Equality Party are private networking groups for posh media gals larping as 'gender equality' charities.

I’ve been very disappointed with the WEP. Thought they’d fix some things, not make things worse. Right then. Let’s do some nominations for who would be a great UK ambassador for women. Or principles for how they should be chosen. I’d like to see women who understand the impact of domestic violence supported to be champions of women.

Sadly not my original thought (@JellySaurus and @NotBadConsidering and others on the Asexual thread got there first!) but I am going to keep borrowing it!

Have any UK politicians been invited to comment, has anyone seen?

That would be enlightening, could be a good opening doorstep question for canvassers.

Perhaps you could identify as having thought of it?

Hilarious. Someone in the UN must have a sense of humour.

Women are, as ever, the punchline.

WickedSerious · 04/01/2024 12:49

He can fuck off to the arse end of fuck and take the UN with him.

😂Don't sit on the fence, tell us what you really feel.

EdithStourton · 04/01/2024 13:29

The UN is fucking useless. And, as PP have said, trolling women.

Another one to add to the list of formerly useful organisations which can now just jump in the bloody sea.

Yep. In the sea with the WHO

Tallisker · 04/01/2024 15:13

Why on earth did GB News get a trans rights activist on to comment on whether the appointment of another trans rights activist was a good thing? Nobody from any of the 17 women's rights groups quoted were invited on 😡

FusionChefGeoff · 04/01/2024 15:55

Oh FUCK OFF

I'm too angry / defeated for anything more coherent

Yes but they'd share really inconvenient facts, realities and thoughts with the general public that would be really unhelpful to men with skin in the game of trampling on women for their jollies!

I find the sheer terror of even acknowledging the existence of other perspectives quite encouraging. It tells me they absolutely know they do not have a leg to stand on and the success of this is time limited until enough people know the facts.

What did Barnum say? You can fool all the people some of the time.

2Rebecca · 04/01/2024 18:34

I'm not deflated. This has done the UN far more damage than it's done women. If they'd chosen a female woman it would have been unnoticed but I think the " no such thing as bad publicity" trope is wrong when it comes to gender ideology. It plays in to Trump's hands as he can hold this sort of nonsense up as a reason the UN is an expensive irrelevance ran by numpties but this is a bad day for the UN not for us. I'm not sure it does Bergdorf any favours as Bergdorf's most misogynistic sayings come back to bite them on the bum
