Trans woman named as UK champion for Women's Rights by the UN....

Outrage as trans woman picked by UN to be 'UK champion' for women's rights (msn.com)

"I will use this role to further advocate for the progress, safety, inclusion and empowerment of all women and girls, of all communities and identities.
"I will continue to draw attention to the systemic and social impact of misogyny, transphobia and gender-based inequality within the UK — in order to help provide data and insight that contributes to forming tangible methods of tracking and countering it." (Munroe Bergdorf)

Really?
How's that going to work then, when you don't like women talking about their own fucking bodies and call it crap like "gatekeeping" and "biological essentialism" etc.

Also quoted as saying anyone can be a woman.

How are you going to fight for their rights if you can't IDENTIFY what they are and anyone can be one?

Actually, they should just identify their way out of oppression and inequality, shouldn't they?
After all, it's that easy apparently.

I’m wondering why women need to be represented by a male who speaks with such hatred towards us he sounds close to the physical manifestation of that hatred

It's because... if coffee drinkers were mistrusted by committed tea drinkers then the obvious solution would be to find a coffee drinker who says that coffee is just tea and that anyone who disagrees is evil, and make them the champion for tea drinkers.

Then they'd do a really good job of promoting tea and that would calm everybody down nicely.

Of course it will.

The UN's peacekeeping skills haven't been all that effective recently, have they? Wonder why not.

muddyford · 03/01/2024 17:44

The U.N. seems intent on self-destruction. I would vote for a party that would stop us paying in.

Hi @HelenFisksBrownSuit that wasn't the reason your post was deleted. We'll drop you a line with more info.

My post was deleted because I have written other posts that refuse to talk 'civilly' about men role-playing women in abusive or predatory ways. In other words, don't hurt the menz lady-feelz.

I am happy to stand by my comments, and I deplore MN for supporting these abusive men.

I'm not even going to ask why mine was deleted. I expect it was because the play on words I used to express that TWANW was 'not in the spirit'. A lovely catch-all that covers a multitude of sins. 🤐

EarthSight · 03/01/2024 17:46

Yep - there will be many older men in suits smiling smugly about this (serves us feminists right), and mature women in senior positions who want to virtue signal to their younger colleagues about how progressive they are.

It would be absolutely unbelievable if misogyny and total disregard for women were not so common in today's society.

Shedmass8 · 03/01/2024 17:47

The UN is a joke.

EarthSight · 03/01/2024 17:49

inclusion and empowerment of all women and girls, of all communities and identities

Which basically means trans rights, doesn't it, at the expensive of women and girls. It's just a massive fuck-you from the U.N to women in the U.K.

Shame on them.

Well, I rather liked their Special Rapporteur on violence against women and girls Reem Al-Saleem. But the UN don't seem to be on top of this trans issue at all. Way behind the times.

Yirk · 03/01/2024 17:56

This might be a thick question, but how come the UN get to chose who champions the UK women's rights... can we not pick our own ?

buckeejit · 03/01/2024 18:07

Who the fuck is in charge of the UN lately? What a shit show. I can't see any way that he is going to benefit UK women. It definitely feels like a GC fuck you. Grrr

AngeloMysterioso · 03/01/2024 18:11

There are 34 million women in the UK.

34 MILLION.

Not one of us deemed worthy of the role. Not one of us good enough.

No, the best candidate for the job was a in my opinion homophobic, lesbophobic, misogynistic man.

FKAT · 03/01/2024 18:30

Aside from anything else, MB is basically a zero talent Z-lister who goes to premieres in not much clothing, gets very minor endorsement deals from low budget brands and relies on occasional panel guest spots for profile. They have no achievements, skills or other notable characteristics that would make them of interest or prominence. It's like making Jodi Marsh or Gemma Collins a UN spokesperson.

That's male privilege for you.

RoyalCorgi · 03/01/2024 18:32

It's so insulting. It's like making Enoch Powell the representative for black people.

Cosmosforbreakfast · 03/01/2024 18:34

The UN is a disgrace. How can men represent women? Why are they and so many other organisations trying so hard to just obliterate us?

Every time we take one step forward in the fight for our rights and identities a gang of idiots come up with a slap in the face like this and put us 10 steps back.

whenindoubtgotothelibrary · 03/01/2024 18:38

FFS. There really is no end to male privilege.

Riapia · 03/01/2024 18:49

The UN obviously decided that the woman needed for the position had to be a (trans)woman with balls.

TWETMIRF · 03/01/2024 19:07

Joseph McCarthy to become the UN champion for communists, Putin for LGB...

StephanieSuperpowers · 03/01/2024 19:23

It's like making Jodi Marsh or Gemma Collins a UN spokesperson.

They would be better, having essential characteristics at least.

DrBlackbird · 03/01/2024 12:02

This was my thought. A big passive aggressive ‘Fuck you’ to gender critical feminists - but also to all women and girls - in the UK concerned about the safety, dignity, and privacy of women.

Bergdorf knows absolutely nothing about the fear of getting your period at school, being bullied or harassed by boys, or being forced to grow up wearing dress/skirts as uniform and being told you have to play netball, not football, let alone about the glass ceiling, misogyny in the workplace, the struggles as a working mother, lack of research into women’s health issues, etc etc etc

Who did the appointing? It’d be therapeutic to write them a letter.

A double tragedy in how Bergdorf has written about their family rejecting them as a gay effeminate boy. So with this appointment, the UN implicitly endorses transing the gay away on the one hand and says FY to biological women and girls on the other. I was always a huge supporter of the UN as an important institution for global security, but I’m beginning to wonder.

Yep and the Labour Party could get in and make this situation far worse
they don’t know what a woman is .🤷🏻‍♀️

women only spaces will be not safe anymore … this is what’s putting me off voting for tbem in the next election .. I’m incensed about their stance on this . I don’t care if they are going to give us untold wealth … safe spaces for born biological women will be a thing of the past ..

catduckgoose · 03/01/2024 19:33

HootyMcBooby · 03/01/2024 14:15

By the way Mumsnet, we are PERMITTED BY LAW to state a biological truth, namely, that trans women are not women. They are men.
And that it a legally protected statement upheld in court.

Is that really true? I thought Mumsnet had the right to delete whatever they want on their own forums.

Supersimkin2 · 03/01/2024 20:24

MB’s more than entitled to say she’s a stunning model, and refer to herself however she likes.

She’s being honest, or at least one hopes so.

Posters are being truthful. About a lot of issues, not just her maleness.

2Rebecca · 03/01/2024 20:37

I think it's a shame both the UN and WHO have been overtaken by transactivists. Are they trying to make themselves irrelevant to GC women and men? They should be above party politics and lobby groups. Adopting someone born male as their special UK women just makes them look silly and captured.

2Rebecca · 03/01/2024 20:37

"Special UK woman"

Portakalkedi · 03/01/2024 20:39

FFS!! What the hell is the UN playing at? I am disgusted and grossly insulted to have a man appointed to this role. ANY one of the 34 million women in this country would be better suited. What a fucking insult.

SidewaysOtter · 03/01/2024 20:49

See, I wonder if there’s secretly some TERFing going on at the UN. Appoint a transwoman (ie a man) as Champion for Women and wait for the media storm to highlight the issue of men yet again shoving themselves into women’s spaces and roles.

Have any UK politicians been invited to comment, has anyone seen?
