Kate Osbourne has doubled down and written to Kemi requesting a formal apology.

Perhaps the transcript will be expedited then

after so many people quote tweeted her using the e-word she can wind her stupid neck right back in.

I can't wait to see the reply.

Tallisker · 14/12/2023 14:19

The panel was so openly hostel to Kemi B, are they allowed to be like that?

Sisterpita · 14/12/2023 14:19

It’s interesting that KO has stated endemic is often used in relation to violence against women or child poverty as they are diseases.

Tallisker · 14/12/2023 14:19

Hostel? Hostile!

Brefugee · 14/12/2023 14:21

it is worth pointing out that the word "epidemic" is used so often by KO that it has possibly lost its meaning...

She did a good job swatting away the stupid questions, but her answers to the reasonable questions were a bit vague. I do wonder if her department is stalling on this issue despite the rhetoric.

Good the longer this row goes on the worse it is for the TRAs.

I'm not on Twitter, but does the fact that she has stopped people replying mean she can't see all the other tweets showing how she used the word epidemic?

Because if she can see them, what the hell does she think it's going happen?! She's done it herself, numerous times.

Also

epidemic
2 of 2noun1
: an outbreak of disease that spreads quickly and affects many individuals at the same time : an outbreak of epidemic disease2
: an outbreak or product of sudden rapid spread, growth, or development
an epidemic of bankruptcies

and

  • a sudden rapid increase in how often something bad happensA recent report describes an epidemic of crime in the inner cities.

i'm assuming that KO did not like the negative connotations to the word epidemic. Presumably because she thinks tons of children identifying as trans is a good thing. In the same way that she wanted to determine if schools could ignore the government advice about children with gender dysphoria.

Talk about show your hand.

What really worries me is, if labour win the next election, people like Kemi might lose their seat while people like Kate Osbourne could drive through laws without any meaningful challenge. That is genuinely terrifying.

Yes it is

This is why Labour are too dangerous to have in power. KO is the perfect example. Not bright, not the capacity or self awareness to realise there's a problem or a bigger picture, absolutely high on her own self righteousness and belief in the wonder of her, and not able to take in any facts or information that don't fit with her personal reality.....

You can't have someone like that on a team behind the tills at Tesco, never mind in government. They will push through stuff based on their own personal reality while screaming nonsense and made up stuff at anyone trying to reason with them.

We're better with the clapped out, corrupt and Godawful Tories than that.

Datun · 14/12/2023 15:08

I'd love her taxed with a question of why she thinks it's not a bad thing that tons of children have gender dysphoria.

This is the same thing we see across the board.

Conflating gender dysphoria, a psychological issue, with civil rights.

I've asked transwomen on here, that if there was a pill to get rid of their gender dysphoria, would they take it. After they've told us our crippling it is.

Mostly the question is met with complete incomprehension as to what I'm saying.

The premise that they need all sorts of treatment and rights in order to combat a crippling mental illness changes pretty swiftly if you ask them if they would support research into a cure, or indeed even asking what they think has caused it.

Suddenly, it's more of a lifestyle choice, that they can't help though (for unidentified reasons) which should be respected and given extra civil rights.

Tallisker · 14/12/2023 15:23

I find it strange that so many people have this crippling condition, yet still seem to be able to function, if not thrive. There are some very senior chaps in the late-transitioning cohort, lots of success in business/military/politics etc

Sisterpita · 14/12/2023 15:25

I recall a tweet (X) boasting that a report was going to be issued that research had proved being trans was genetic. They were shocked by all the positive messages saying how wonderful to be able to test to prove that someone was trans. They went very quiet when they realised the full implications and no report or research ever materialised.

For me, yesterday was another classic example of a MP, blindly repeating questions prepped for them by Stonewall et al, and when challenged could not say where the questions had come from or what it related to because they’ve been spoonfed activist words by activist organisations. They make their stooges look even more stupid that they are.
I get MP have people prepare stuff for them, but the contrast between KB who had put a shift in to understand and research the issues, and KO was clear for all to see.

Datun · 14/12/2023 15:49

I hope there's not a protocol that means Kemi has to respond. I hope she just ignores it.

Pretty certain Osborne only wrote it to virtue signal to her fellow TRAs.

Crouton19 · 14/12/2023 16:00

Having watched the whole thing through, I am really quite shocked at how unintelligent many of the MPs on that committee appear to be. KB must have spent about half of the session saying "that's for another department, not this one". Do these MPs really not know who does what? KB even had to explain the protected characteristics at one point.

JemimaTiggywinkles · 14/12/2023 16:04

Maybe she will be using different reasons, for different types of exclusion.

Sorry it is going back a bit, but I'm catching up after work.

Personally, I think the most important thing is for Badenoch to get through to people that it is completely acceptable to exclude TW from women-only spaces. There's been so much nonsense spoken and the general public are still only just becoming properly aware. If she wins the battle to separate TW from W in order to protect women in one area it becomes so much more straight forward to do it in other areas.

Essentially, what she is doing is indicating not only that transwomen are not women, she's also reiterating the EA position that transwomen should not be treated like women in some circumstances. That is such a massive step forward compared to where we were even just 2 years ago.

nauticant · 14/12/2023 16:04

One example of that was when Caroline Nokes claimed that because something has an impact on young people, then this brings the Equality Act into play because it relates to "age". Around the 17:33 point. That was one of many examples in the session where CN was desperate to find anything to wrong-foot KB.

DarkDayforMN · 14/12/2023 16:09

I think she's walked it back so that her uses are covered under the "not actually a disease, still a bad thing" subclause, but Kemi's use of the word is unacceptable because she's clearly intending to do a genocide by suggesting that it's a bad thing to have more Trans Kids (TM.)

(The official TRA line is that trans people are not ill mentally or physically, but they could all off themselves any moment and they are in dire need of waiting list-free extremely expensive experimental healthcare.)

Cailleach1 · 14/12/2023 16:18

I don’t think I heard KB calling KO a liar. I heard KO herself saying that KB was calling her a liar. KB said that is a lie, and you are lying. And, asked KO for the source or record, which didn’t seem to be forthcoming. One might think because it doesn’t exist.

Also, KO was the one who introduced the interpretation of epidemic as only meaning disease. It is very manufactured, and one may regard it as an attempt of mendaciously trying to slur KB.

Funny to see that KO wrote that bringing up voting records was off. It wasn’t to do with her. They must be fuming. KB is opening the curtains and they don’t like it.
