The Scottish Government has a Plan!

Igneococcus · 17/11/2023 07:17

It really does, it says so. The plan has 50 points and is aimed at addressing the needs of the country's non-binary population. Maybe if all of us here in the Highlands&Islands declare ourselves NB they will build us some fecking ferries.
I will do a sharetoken when I'm on a different device in a bit.

That's going to be an interesting read. Looking forward to the share token.

So does this mean that people who maKe a decision to render their healthy bodies infertile through drugs and/or surgery are going to be able to have their eggs/sperms frozen on the nhs?

Won't that make the list longer and less accessible to those who are genuinely actually sick and need chemo and those born with medical conditions that meant they cant conceive naturally ?

Thats not very fair on them is it.

PurpleSparkledPixie · 17/11/2023 08:31

Ministers have also vowed to commission research on the way current regulations and guidance influence the operation of Scotland’s public buildings “in a way that impacts” Scotland’s estimated 24,000 trans and non-binary people.
24,000 trans in Scotland??? Have they all "emigrated" from the rest of the world to this little piece of rainbow heaven?

Funding for mandatory training for community NHS staff such as GPs and mental health professionals on the needs of non-binary patients is also included.
I have no idea what needs are different to non non-binary people. What am I missing?

Villagetoraiseachild · 17/11/2023 08:33

Yes Op, ferries and decently priced ferries (free in Sweden) would be a thing of great beauty.

Rainbowshit · 17/11/2023 08:44

Why are people who elect to destroy their fertility for cosmetic reasons being given the same access to fertility treatment as cancer sufferers?

At lest they are admitting it hey are sterilising people I guess.

Igneococcus · 17/11/2023 09:00

I talked to someone this week who is involved in a cancer charity here. They are now outfitting a flat so people who come from the islands for chemo have somewhere to stay when the ferries either don't go, or the timetable doesn't let them get to their appointments without coming the day before.
I understand living in a remote place makes things more difficult but the SG doesn't seem to care at all.

If everyone declared themselves NB, maybe they’d fund the ferries?

If you can't beat them, join them? 🤔

Yes but trans something marginalised something something oppressed minority something something bullshit.

Whatwouldscullydo · 17/11/2023 16:23

Perhaps we are all missing a trick? Let's all get ourselves involved in deliberately creating situations where we are the victim and/or be told no usually for bloody good reason then we can all claim oppression severe enough to warrant special treatment beyond anything anyone else gets.

COUOLD YOUS ALL STOP GOIN ON ABOOT THE FERRIES

Waitwhat23 · 17/11/2023 16:35

Worst drugs death rate in Europe.
Money spunked up the wall on the failed bottle deposit scheme.
Umpteen dodgy dealing financial scandals.
Environmental targets missed by miles.
Island communities failed by outrageous incompetence regarding the ferries.

But this navel gazing, self indulgent bullshit is what they focus on.

For fucks sake.

OldCrone · 17/11/2023 16:56

They actually have a definition for "non-binary".

Scottish Trans define a non-binary person as “a person identifying as either having a gender which is in-between or beyond the two categories ‘man’ or ‘woman’, as fluctuating between ‘man’ and ‘woman’, or as having no gender, either permanently or some of the time.”

That makes me non-binary according to their definition since I don't believe I have a gender. I think there must be a lot more than 24,000 people in Scotland who are non-binary according to that definition.

And why does someone who identifies as having this in-between, fluctuating or non-existent gender need to be sterilised?

CatonmyKeyboard · 17/11/2023 17:00

I can imagine that someone who is so nonbinary that they can't work out whether they do the sperm or egg bit of 'making a baby' might need some help with the process.

But nobody really thinks that, do they? They just think their sex is irrelevant to their sexual reproduction. Or something.

HarpieDuJour · 17/11/2023 17:05

24000 is about the same as the population of the Western Isles, isn't it? I think you are right, OP, and we all need to get blue hair and pronouns if we ever want a safe, reliable ferry and a stable food supply!

I identify as a ferry. I've had enough of working.

Whatwouldscullydo · 17/11/2023 17:13

And why does someone who identifies as having this in-between, fluctuating or non-existent gender need to be sterilised?

And why does everyone have to know about it. Identities are only the interest of the person who has them. No one else gives a crap or needs to know. Surely of something only works with participation of unconsenting strangers then its all obviously extremely flawed. Nothing else requires this level of involvement with anyone.

OldCrone · 17/11/2023 17:56

It's the concept of "passing", which seems to be such a major part of being trans. The whole ideology is based on how other people see you. It's about pretending to be something you are not and convincing other people that you are what you are pretending to be. It's fundamentally dishonest.

Whatwouldscullydo · 17/11/2023 18:03

No one believes it. Not really. It's all just a competition to show how " nice" and how much better than everyone else you are. It all falls apart the second you ask any questions. It would be good to know what reward people think they are going to get for playing along.

Whatwouldscullydo · 17/11/2023 18:18

Even the charities that are behind all this dont believe it. If they did they'd all be flying off to all the countries where wonen are treated like crap and telling everyone how to tell if they are actually throwing boys on the trash heaps to die, that that little girl about to be married off to a man in his 50s is actually a boy, etc funnily enough thats yet to happen when you could spend your time convincing privileged leaders of western countries and get paid for it instead.

OldCrone · 17/11/2023 18:19

It would be good to know what reward people think they are going to get for playing along.

I don't think they think they're going to get any reward. They just don't want to be on the receiving end of the rape and death threats or being cancelled. They're being blackmailed, not bribed.

These "most oppressed" people seem to have an awful lot of power over governments. It would be good to see a government showing a bit of backbone and standing up to them for a change.

UnremarkableBeasts · 17/11/2023 19:17

The Scottish government would probably manage to prioritise ferries if they (the ferries) identified as nonbinary service hubs.

WickedSerious · 17/11/2023 19:30

I like the idea of a gender 'beyond the two categories',it sounds so aspirational.
