The police are still targeting her:

Northumbria Update!!!!

The officer who unlawfully questioned our client for saying ‘transwomen are men’ turned up at her house overnight to post a handwritten envelope. The enclosed letter contained no apology, no acknowledgment of the alarm & distress, but simply stated that there would be no further action PENDING FURTHER INFORMATION.

The level of inappropriateness is breathtaking. This is stalking. @CCJardineNP @NPNland

We will today be considering getting a restraining order on this officer.

We have taken immediate action and sent this directly to the officer concerned.

This was a hand delivered letter. Very intimidating.

"Pending further information my arse"

Grin
Datun · 15/11/2023 09:44

What does pending further information mean?

The sentence reads 'there will be no further action unless or until we receive further information'.

Which indicates they're rather waiting for something expected that will precipitate further action, or we are assuming that someone is bound to complain again about your tweets, so be prepared.

Both of which sound threatening.

Does anyone with law knowledge here have any idea what that sentence means, officially?

WarriorN · 15/11/2023 09:56

"We are watching you"

And "we know where you live."

CorruptedCauldron · 15/11/2023 09:58

Harassment, pure and simple.

LarkLane · 15/11/2023 10:05

It's a way of sayng they haven't a case based on the info they have @Datun.
Usually, it says NFA unless further information comes to light. Which is standard.

Normally it's the Officer's Sergeant who will have taken the charging decision, based on current evidence, and often advice from CPS.

What's concerning is this letter says unless and until.
Which suggests to me that the officer is determined that it hasn't been NFA'd at all.

You can be released after interview as stil being under investigation, but this isn't it.

Bizarre and sinister. The officer is likely to have written the letter officerself.
No wonder FairCop are in a froth about it.

I wonder if the officer was on duty when it was delivered?
All these officers in Northumbria hand delivering NFA letters in the dead of night.
Or was it just this one?

What a gift to the baddies out thieving and worse.

What the fuck are these police officers thinking when they do this shit!

Love the text we are fair cop sent though!

JemimaTab · 15/11/2023 11:31

Why was it handwritten, I wonder. Was it even official?

The envelope was handwritten. I don't think the letter inside was.

I don’t think they do think. That’s not why we recruit them! [knocks on wood to emphasise].

WarriorN · 15/11/2023 12:08

Letter was typed on police station headed paper but hand written envelope and hand delivered to her house.

DerekFaker · 15/11/2023 12:19

pronounsbundlebundle · 13/11/2023 23:58

Yes, very much so. Do you think they'll investigate this crime of targetted harassment and lesbophobia? Which definitely, what with the bullying trip to the police station, was intended to cause and caused 'alarm and distress'?

Of course not!

This really looks like twitter animosity that has spilled over into real life. Quite a few supposed male fans of NUFC have popped up to troll GC accounts and say they know the woman and she's awful (no evidence except a screenshot where she mentions Hitler which they are wilfully misinterpreting). No evidence of them supporting trans rights. They just knew they could use it as a weapon, imo. I wouldn't be surprised if the officer who's overstepping the mark is part of their gang.

I mean, if you've seen and heard how nasty some football 'supporters' can get with their posts and chants, why is this woman their target?

And now the latest developments...

The police really need to stop people using them as their personal army.

Didn't Elon Musk offer to finance legal cases against this kind of thing? If so I hope he is true to his word.

DerekFaker · 15/11/2023 17:40

He did. I have seen a screenshot of him saying "Is this real?", which I hope is genuine. Things could get very interesting.

pronounsbundlebundle · 15/11/2023 22:51

Bloody hell, these abusive police officers really think they're teflon and the law doesn't apply to them, don't they? It's not acceptable that the police allow this level of threat and escalation. Stalking is quite right.

TriceratopsTina · 17/11/2023 20:53

NC: I'm in a group with the woman in question and she has today heard that she has been banned from NUFC membership for two years and cannot attend matches there and away games. The premier league 'will be also notified.'

This is absolutely ridiculous. And she's devastated.

RethinkingLife · 17/11/2023 21:10

This is absolutely ridiculous. And she's devastated.

This really is a soft creep version of the apprehension around social credit and associated restrictions that is commonly (mistakenly?) thought to be true of China but happening in England. (I've no idea if similar has happened in the remainder of GB/UK.)

The Chinese government did emphasize that all social-credit-related punishment has to adhere to existing laws, but laws themselves can be unjust in the first place. “Saying that the system is an extension of the law only means that it is no better or worse than the laws it enforces. As China turns its focus increasingly to people’s social and cultural lives, further regulating the content of entertainment, education, and speech, those rules will also become subject to credit enforcement,” Daum wrote in a 2021 article.
Moreover, “this was always about making people honest to the government, and not necessarily to each other,” says Ahmed. When moral issues like honesty are turned into legal issues, the state ends up having the sole authority in deciding who’s trustworthy. One tactic Chinese courts have used in holding “discredited individuals” accountable is encouraging their friends and family to report their assets in exchange for rewards. “Are you making society more trustworthy by ratting out your neighbor? Or are you building distrust in your very local community?” she asks.

China just announced a new social credit law. Here’s what it means.

The West has largely gotten China’s social credit system wrong. But draft legislation introduced in November offers a more accurate picture of the reality.

Brefugee · 17/11/2023 21:16

Perhaps she should do a FOI on how many other NUFC members have been suspended for that reason

TriceratopsTina · 17/11/2023 21:26

The tweets they're citing as an issue are different to the main one quoted here (TW are Men), but there's still no grounds for any of this. Particularly as the police are taking no further action.
