Continuation of Thread 6.

There is so much excellent information and so many active discussions on FWR that I wondered if it would be useful to have a thread to sort of "cross-fertilise" between them - airing little thoughts or vignettes that wouldn't themselves merit their own thread, to highlight other posts/threads of particular interest or to point to notable developments on fast-moving threads so that casual observers know where to look.

(For example, "the X thread has meandered onto a fascinating discussion of Y" or "Poster P's amazing analysis on thread Z might have relevance to the scenario in thread W" or "Has anybody noticed this recurring theme that keeps coming up??" or even "Random bloke asked me to smile while I was choosing onions in the supermarket, grr"- that sort of thing).

Check out the thread Why are you awake? Wide awake! in Chat. (Sorry on phone and can't link). There's the lived reality of a woman's life played out in broken nights, if anyone needed telling.

I'm rarely surprised by the naked arrogance of The Right Side of History, but I did do a little Buttergasp at this nugget being reported about ERCC.

It's shocking reading. The people at the heart of it should be ashamed of themselves. They probably won't be, of course, because they may well be convinced that being among the elect gives you license to treat people in that way.

It's definitely interesting and sad. It's good to hear about the extremes of AGP because I'm sure most of us wouldn't have dreamt it would be that extreme.

I'm confused why everyone seemed so shocked about snag tights. They have been very openly and vocal about being trans activists for years so they are clearly misogynists with porn brain.

Think a year or two ago they even made a post that women who champion women's rights (who they call terfs and transphobes) should not buy from them.

I just went to read it and it was gone at the OPs request. Unfortunate, because I think she had a lot to say and also could have done with some support. I was disappointed by the troll hunting.

As a light interlude - a film recommendation: Dhak Dhak.

Road movie about a group of 4 women riding from Delhi to the highest motorbike-accessible pass in the Himalayas. Written and directed by a man, but puts women firmly centre stage and shows a decent understanding of female experience. Has some good female side characters, too, not just the central ones.

It's not quite, as recently wished for on another thread, 'a film in which women say fuck this and go off to be witches in a bog' but it's a decent equivalent.

Is it me or is anyone else a bit at the recent number of trans threads appearing in AIBU? And even more that they are staying in AIBU and not being moved here?

There has been rather a flurry, lately.

I've just watched the trailer on YouTube and - although I couldn't get the English subtitles to work - it was worth it for the music alone.

I've just been looking at the trailer too.There'siker Nani which made me smile, and it looks a fun watch.

Edit: That should say There's a Biker Nani. I've re-edited 3 times and the letters keep disappearing for some strange reason.🙄

Biker Nani is an excellent character - prayer flags on the handlebars, bottle of rum at the rest stops. And in a departure from usual Bollywood film practice (in which women often play the mother of actors just 3 or 4 years younger than they are), the 60 year-old character is played by a 66 year-old actress.

The film contains no members of W Yorkshire police, although there are some police characters who are decidedly unhelpful in their own ways.

Well that's on my viewing list for tomorrow. Biker Nani sounds like my kind of Gal!😀

Sounds like my kind of film too! So, it's on Netflix, it seems. I'll watch it, but not tonight, it's too late..
