Leak reveals an attempt to allow political men to self identify as women

Row looms as Welsh Government plans to allow self-identifying transwomen to stand in Senedd elections as females

Congrats to Women's Rights Network Wales for spilling the beans.

It was an early draft apparently so possibly a basic look by a lawyer might have got it changed in later ones. In a way I hope they press on with it as the row will be glorious.

This policy seems odd do we need self ID after all we all know Wales is the most Trans friendly place in the UK for politicians.. We know Welsh Trans politicians can be elected here. We are the only the country to ever have a Trans MP - Jamie Wallis, the Tory MP for Bridgend of car crash in dress and pearls fame. Although obviously he was in the closet when elected it amazing to see his confidence and it is great to see transness at a high level. Though it seems he is planning to move to England.

Perhaps Jamie would like to stand for the Senedd.

More sunlight please. There is so little proper scrutiny in Wales - virtually no Welsh media, all very cosy.

The Welsh Government was originally due to release new schools' guidance last summer (or so they promised in their LGBTQ+ action plan). Latest update says consultation before the end of the 2023/24 school year, so they're running short of time. The more attention to how crazy they are on this issue before that consultation, the better.

I really think if you ask the Welsh public 'Do you think children should be ushered into opposite sex spaces if they say that they have identity feelings?' they're probably not going to go 'Yes, sounds like a great idea'.

Or sex, unless it's actually relevant. Which it isn't in the case of becoming elected as a politician. That's my point.

I know this is an old thread re-surfacing and the poster may be long-gone, but the naivety(/ privileged arrogance?) of the above is infuriating to read.

On the very same page of posts as AlphaTransWoman's claim right now is:

BMJ: Women’s health needs beyond sexual, reproductive, and maternal health are missing from the government’s 2024 priorities

Biological women are dying because their physical needs aren't recognised, let alone prioritised, by our predominantly male political representatives. Any woman - the old-fashioned kind - in this game for any length of time knows this (any one else: read "Invisible Women" and come back to me).

The very fact that AlphaTransWoman says that sex isn't relevant to political representation is, itself, the best evidence possible for how very important it actually is.

Especially because, if we assume AlphaTransWoman's username reflects their identity, their statement here demonstrates precisely why accepting transwomen in PLACE of women to represent women's interests actually undermines those interests. Because AlphaTransWoman at best fails to understand and, at worst, actively denies, those interests.

I find what's happening right now so very frightening. How little we're worth; how little we're noticed, understood & valued. I'd never dreamt it could come to this.

Somewhere between furious & terrified.

Feeling it today, and the combination of posts explored above really upsets me.
