Eddie Izzard criticises discord sown between trans and women's rights: 'They shouldn't be fought against each other' | Watch (msn.com)

Another interview with Izzard saying these "arguments will drift away", it's "live and let live", its a right wing ideology etc.

Get fucked Eddie.
Women's rights will not just "drift away" you moron.

It's NOTHING to to with homophobia, the arguments aren't even comparable.
You just want women to shut up and sweep themselves out of the room and close the door after themselves, don't you?

Well, it's not happening you twat.

No less than an Eddie Izzard Gin it seems. And it's all based around 'her' mantra - https://www.edinburghgin.com/eddie-izzard

Oh bugger. I really liked their raspberry gin but I can’t countenance buying from a company that calls Eddie “her” Hmm

”my genetics have not moved : I’ve always known that I had both boy and girl genetics”

Aye.

Yes, he does manage to be both a dick and a twat.

Gender ideology summed up in pictorial form.

Gosh. Just so... feminine.
He's been a massive disappointment.

For his info, I'm not drifting anywhere.

I knew Izzard would be a variation on, "It will all be OK because nobody listens to actual women and I, a man, will ultimately determine how this turns out."

This.

FlirtsWithRhinos · 26/10/2023 17:50

How I wish the gender fairy could wave a magic wand and allow Izzard to relive their life as an actual woman.

Do we reckon she'd have had the same journey through the 80s and 90s to become the same mega-successful comedian Eddie is today?

Or do we reckon she'd have had to put up with sexism "women aren't funny love", worrying about whether the sofa she'd been offered to crash on at the Fringe came with strings attached, having her male "friends" on the circuit bet who would bed her, weighing up whether to risk that gig that ends after the transport home stops ...

Such a good point.

WoollyBat · 26/10/2023 22:38

Such a good point.

Yes - it would be great this this could happen to all TW!

WoollyBat · 26/10/2023 22:38

if this

SinnerBoy · 27/10/2023 04:19

So he'll decide whether to forgive women who told him "No," will he? Like the three girls he terrified in the ladies?

It's interesting to see that all sections of the press have concluded that his vanity film is a bucket of lukewarm piss!

ThePoshUns · 27/10/2023 06:05

I didn't realise that Eddie went to boarding school, so has had the additional privilege of that also.
I hope his film flops and the bottles of Eddie gin gather dust on the shelf.
To think I used to pay good money to watch his shows.

CorruptedCauldron · 27/10/2023 07:45

That Dr Jekyll trailer really is something else. What were they thinking? It looks laughably poor. No wonder even the Guardian couldn’t recommend it (and I’m sure they wanted to, so I must give them some credit for not lying to us). In the trailer you get a brief glimpse of Hyde, who seems exactly the same as Jekyll, only a bit pissed. Probably on the Eddie gin!

SinnerBoy · 27/10/2023 07:52

I've had a few bottles of Edinburgh Gin, but not any more.

ArthurbellaScott · 27/10/2023 08:19

Wikipedia's summary of the plot of the original book:

'Jekyll's letter explains he held himself to strict moral standards publicly, but indulged in unstated vices and struggled with shame. He found a way to transform himself and thereby indulge his vices without fear of detection.

Jekyll's transformed body, Hyde, was evil, self-indulgent, and uncaring to anyone but himself. Initially, Jekyll controlled the transformations with the serum, but one night in August, he became Hyde involuntarily in his sleep.'

CorruptedCauldron · 27/10/2023 09:17

Self-indulgent and uncaring to anyone but himself. Who does that remind me of?

Brewdug · 27/10/2023 09:27

It's only a very short review but glad Bradshaw was professional enough to keep it to the film and not shoehorn in a load of identity politics. Very few at the Guardian wouldn't make sure their personal opinions took up most of the space. Seemed to avoid using pronouns for Izzard as well (necessary for the character near the end). Smart, as again it keeps it all about the film - although comments are closed anyway? What a surprise.

I'm not even averse to the premise - it could have been good, campy horror fun in a way. But Bradshaw's review confirms my own suspicions from the trailer about it missing the mark. The thing may be Izzard doesn't have the sense of humour anymore to pull something like this off.

RealityFan · 27/10/2023 09:35

Eddie, dear boy, we've just been watching that great female humanitarian Freda Wallace spit venom at Helen Joyce at the IEA "debate".

Amongst millions of other reasons, and now most recently on the basis of watching Wallace's disdain and hate of women, no way is this existential argument "drifting away".

The original film is rather witty and entertaining, with the excellent Martine Beswick. Though it does have nudity.

I wouldn't bother with the remake.

I know, it's as if they don't know such a thing as the internet exists and that claims can be disproven very quickly these days.
His BIG thing was that he was very much a MAN who just happened to like women's clothes (or HIS clothes, as he was famously quoted as saying).

It's all complete disingenuous bollocks.

This is what actors do. They reinterpret stuff. In this case, Eddie the actor (cos)playing the Eddie female role, is reinterpreting Eddie the gender non conforming male person.

He's been doing it for a while...his well worn story where as a teen he was chased out of the Ladies by some teenage girls, here again he's reinterpreting these girls acting naturally as some sort of bullies or transphobes. I'm sure they love a man attempting to eliminate their agency.

The whole of TRA is acting, there's some sort of kismet that an actual actor would be the most prominent trans person the public knows (way more than Lia Thomas), alongside, yes another actor, Dylan Mulvaney.

Eddie's whole life is now an act, whether this breaking the fourth wall Jeckyll and Hyde role, or breaking the actual walls of women's spaces as he queues up to use the Ladies at the National Theatre.

HootyMcBooby76 · 27/10/2023 13:02

Don't get me started on THIS utter BOLLOCKS:

"We know we are a mixture: XX and XY, not XX and YY. We start in the foetus as girls and some get coded boys".

XY means MALE Eddie, not half male and half female you clown.

Where does he get off spreading such complete horseshit? Hopefully most people will question this, but probably not the young impressionable or vulnerable people who get sucked into this ideology based on this crap.

Lol what.

An X chromosome doesn't mean you have a latent girl mode just waiting to be activated, Eddie.

Arnold Schwarzenegger has as many X chromosomes as you do.

This is non scientific garbage

ErrolTheDragon · 27/10/2023 14:11

I've not RTFT and certainly CBA to listen to Eddie pontificating.

But hopefully the arguments will drift away as rational people see the idiotic, scientific illiteracy of him and his ilk, accept that humans can't change sex, and realise that people can just be themselves regardless of oldfashioned 'gendering'. Eddie had it right first time, they weren't womens frocks they were just his frocks.
