Eddie Izzard criticises discord sown between trans and women's rights: 'They shouldn't be fought against each other' | Watch (msn.com)

Another interview with Izzard saying these "arguments will drift away", it's "live and let live", its a right wing ideology etc.

Get fucked Eddie.
Women's rights will not just "drift away" you moron.

It's NOTHING to to with homophobia, the arguments aren't even comparable.
You just want women to shut up and sweep themselves out of the room and close the door after themselves, don't you?

Well, it's not happening you twat.

It is certainly a bloke - as is apparent to anyone who has seen it; but no, the sex segregated rally was elsewhere. What was of interest, I thought, was the woman's expression.

His demeanour reminds me so much of Lily Madigan, also showing his feminist chops by, er, writing on his hand in Sharpie.

Is it time for that informative image of Eddie dressed in womangender rummaging in his pants in a queue for the women's toilets, surrounded by women dressed in jeans, trainers & anoraks stoically avoiding making eye contact?

This one?

He can’t honestly believe he is going to be seen as a woman?! It’s definitely going to be seen
as a trans villain, nothing wrong with that at all. No one believes boy mode to girl mode is actually real other than the Izzard of Was.
I used to be a huge fan in the 90s, loved the dismantling of gender stereotypes with a masculine looking male wearing lipstick and dresses, now he presents as a misogynist with a fetish. Not a good look.

PaterPower · 26/10/2023 16:26

The MSN clip (OP originally linked) has comments disabled but an overwhelming number of thumbs down votes anyway.

It’s almost like MSN knew people wouldn’t be complementary about him / his views.

Ponderingwindow · 26/10/2023 16:26

Actually, I think the statement is true. Some day these arguments will just drift away. People will accept that a man is an adult human male and his personal sense of self or expression should not be constrained by social traditions. A man will be able to walk down street wearing a dress and makeup if he wants and no one will think it makes him any less of a man.

Happily. What’s going on there?

PTSDBarbiegirl · 26/10/2023 16:32

Tosser.
I'd say transing is homophobic in the extreme. The argument isn't about 'trans' rights V women's rights, it's about the powers available to men that invalidate and weaken women's rights. I'm not hearing the female transmen fighting for access to male rights, now why is that..... Why does gizzard think women and girls needed protection in the first place. I supported him before when he was a cross dressing, boundary challenging, stereotype smashing guy. Now he's parodying women with the surgery and false breasts he's dead to me.

Otterseatpuffinsdontthey · 26/10/2023 16:39

No, Mister Izzard, these arguments will not drift away.
AND I won't be buying any more Edinburgh Gin.

SidewaysOtter · 26/10/2023 16:51

Wait, Izzard has a connection to Edinburgh Gin?! But I really like their liqueurs!

<weeps in horror>

JoodyBlue · 26/10/2023 16:55

The smug younger person has enraged me. Effectively he said - when the people who object to having their boundaries crossed have eventually been silenced, WE can decide whether or not we can remind them of the fact that they have been silenced. The difference between accepting gay people and this ideology is gay sexuality does not impose itself on others, nor ask others to lie day in day out. I find this analogy both incredibly trite and equally really chilling. How are they that lacking in comprehension.

No less than an Eddie Izzard Gin it seems. And it's all based around 'her' mantra - https://www.edinburghgin.com/eddie-izzard

Lily Madigan was appointed by Jeremy Corbyn to be the women's officer of the Labour Party.

Waitwhat23 · 26/10/2023 17:07

There's plenty of other (imo, much nicer) gin liqueurs from Scotland if you're looking for an alternative. Off the top of my head - The Gin Bothy, Aelder and the Dundee Gin Company do lovely ones.

One I haven't tried but which caught my eye the other day as I've not seen it before is Downpour Gin - I'm going to ask for some for Christmas as well as the gorgeous Fidra Gin cracker which caught my eye!

Otterseatpuffinsdontthey · 26/10/2023 17:29

@SidewaysOtter .
All the famous people from Edinburgh and Edinburgh Gin has to choose a man who dresses as a woman, who's not even from Edinburgh!
@Waitwhat23 .
Many thanks for your suggestions. I've already moved on 😉

Froodwithatowel · 26/10/2023 17:31

I find it beyond sad. Totally lost that line between cool and groovy/looking like a dick that he used to talk about.

WithTheHatToMatch · 26/10/2023 17:31

Hopefully he will drift away and take Susie with him.

Not to mention the (many) psychological issues it reflects. These are not well people.

Oh for gods sake. That just takes the absolute biscuit. I liked Edinburgh gin!

FlirtsWithRhinos · 26/10/2023 17:50

How I wish the gender fairy could wave a magic wand and allow Izzard to relive their life as an actual woman.

Do we reckon she'd have had the same journey through the 80s and 90s to become the same mega-successful comedian Eddie is today?

Or do we reckon she'd have had to put up with sexism "women aren't funny love", worrying about whether the sofa she'd been offered to crash on at the Fringe came with strings attached, having her male "friends" on the circuit bet who would bed her, weighing up whether to risk that gig that ends after the transport home stops ...

MangoAF · 26/10/2023 17:57

I think he was “just” a constituency women’s officer, rather than the women’s officer of the whole Labour Party. He was also elected by the constituency members and then again by members to become the women’s officer for Labour Students, rather than being appointed by Jeremy Corbyn.

AdrianaLaCerva · 26/10/2023 18:00

Excellent summary OP, I couldn’t agree more.

Lily Madigan was appointed by Jeremy Corbyn to be the women's officer of the Labour Party.

...and called themself heir to Savile or the next Jimmy Savile or something else utterly disgraceful.
