Lesbian nana goes viral again

most police officers manage to not go viral at any point, or have any social media coverage. Yet this one has managed it twice in a few months! Not a good look.

Totally unrelated question - what effects does testosterone have on a female body?

Lesbian Nana stars in ‘The Peppering’.

I’m not convinced she’s picking out ring leaders to spray to make a point, seeing as she lunges at the calm-seeming lady in the florescent sports top?

Pava/CS/Pepper spray are all prohibited firearms under the 1968 legislation - if a member of the public behaved like that they would presumably be up on a serious charge?

Off topic, but fuck me, this made me feel ancient 😐

I’m thinking LNan failed to follow WYP protocol:

https://www.westyorkshire.police.uk/sites/default/files/2020-02/pava_irritant_spray.pdf

Section 5 Firearms:

https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1968/27/section/5

Apparently WYP are second only to the Met in the submission of ‘use of force’ paperwork:

https://www.westyorks-ca.gov.uk/media/9025/item-4-use-of-force-aug-2022.pdf

WYP think this is a good thing, (presumably because they consider high volumes of completed paperwork to be more important than… not subjecting the public to police brutality? 😬)

Crikey, the student officer on the left looks about 12!

DrBlackbird · 25/10/2023 07:12

LN is making the rounds of all the newspapers again. Apparently any charges were dropped against the autistic girl the police dragged away, but I did wonder if there was more to the story.

It was hard to believe that 5 police would be sent to arrest a 12 year old girl at her house for simply saying the woman looked like her lesbian nana. The police woman herself may have rejection sensitivity dysphoria and over reacted but someone else in the force would’ve gone, naah let it go. Apparently not.

Anyhow, Duncan wants to know what happened so I’ll follow the FOI request with interest.

“Lesbian Nana” case - a Freedom of Information request to Independent Office for Police Conduct

As you may be aware there has been significant public interest the “lesbian nana” incident involving officers from West Yorkshire Police used force on a disabled child from a private dwelling. If you are not aware; here is it https://www.google.co.u...

Thanks, @DrBlackbird for the link to Duncan's FoI request.

'Lesbian Nana' has really entered the lexicon.

Abhannmor · 25/10/2023 08:04

Far too excitable to be trusted on the front line. She will have to be promoted like Cressida Dick.

NotTerfNorCis · 25/10/2023 08:30

At this stage she's a victim of public shaming, though, and I don't think many people deserve that.

JustKen · 25/10/2023 08:35

I think people should be a lot more self-aware of what jobs are appropriate for them. This woman is way out of her depth. Maybe she's good at writing in exams or something.

Twistyripple · 25/10/2023 08:44

It's amazing that this is the behaviour that has been recorded twice. How often is this happening when there is nobody filming her

She's not being shamed, she's (rightly) being held to account.

The police are there to protect the public and therefore the public need to have trust in them. She is. Undermining that trust.

A very good point.

I don't think recording and posting shameful conduct counts as shaming.

I have wondered the same. Hopefully from now on assuming she is not sacked or promoted to anywhere off the streets, people will see her and start filming.

I watched the footage and was just aghast. Lets hope they dont promote her to the firearms unit.

At this stage she's a victim of public shaming, though, and I don't think many people deserve that.

Nobody is actively trying to catch her out as far as I can see or wage a targeted shaming exercise against her.

What we have is two totally unrelated incidents, filmed by different people which show extreme responses from the same officer (based on what we see from the footage - I appreciate we should always consider there maybe more context we can't view).

You would have thought after the first incident this person might have reflected on how best to de-escalate situations or been offered support/training to do so.

The (over) reaction of this officer in comparison with their colleagues is very, very stark. The use of pepper spray, rushing at people, chasing after those already moving back to highly agitated body language and yelling was in significant contrast to her peers.

The reason this second film has gained traction is not because she is in it, but because of the behaviour she displayed which has echo's of previous recorded "form" for inflaming situations.

Had she behaved like the other officers, this second film wouldn't have gained any traction at all.

Maaate · 24/10/2023 16:48

get back now' she shouts whilst running towards the people who were already standing back 🙄

To be fair, when police from other forces were drafted in during the London riots, I've never forgotten an account of 5 officers from Strathclyde Police.

Faced with a group of @ 100, the 5 sized them up, based on their experience of managing crowds in Glasgow after an Old Firm match in Glasgow, and charged them in the authoritative way they'd manage Rangers and Celtic fans.

The group dispersed.

The Scots police were also noted for playing football with teenagers at the time and sitting down and having a natter and cup of tea with people.

Fenlandia · 25/10/2023 10:51

Love that Moley's movie poster also stars Pepper Bunce as 'Man in pink dress'.

WeighDownOnMeStayTillMorning · 25/10/2023 10:57

For me it's her lack of control; she seemed in a real state of panic which the other officers managed not to portray. They held the line but seemed in control, whereas her finger was constantly twitching for the pepper spray and she was clearly panting for breath and panicking.

Just not what you need in a tense situation.

teawamutu · 25/10/2023 11:04

I suppose, IF you were trying to be charitable: she's a small woman in a hostile situation. She may feel she struggles to assert authority by staying calm.

Which is an argument for not sending her there, of course. But might possibly explain it

BoreOfWhabylon · 25/10/2023 11:18

I noticed that after the original Lesbian Nan incident and also this latest one the officer stood apart from her colleagues and displayed highly agitated behaviour - glaring, clenching both hands and appearing to be having difficulty regaining self-control. The body language of her colleagues was interesting too, they appeared to be ignoring/avoiding her.

IcakethereforeIam · 25/10/2023 11:20

I am feeling a little sorry for her too. Although at the same time I don't feel she deserves pity. She's a grown woman, in a responsible job. The incidents that have put her into the public eye were from behaviour that was entirely under her control. She's unfortunate that she's identifiable, got stuck with a memorable nickname and got filmed.

I bet there are dodgy incidents involving other coppers every day, every hour, but don't have a hook to interest the media, aren't filmed or are too same shit, different day to catch the public's attention.

Redshoeblueshoe · 25/10/2023 11:24

Are police regularly drug tested ?

Topofthemountain · 25/10/2023 12:19

She looked at times like a 4 year old running around a family party with a water gun spraying unsuspecting relatives.

For her own safety she needs input of some description.

Fahbeep · 25/10/2023 12:25

bluedomino · 24/10/2023 11:44

She reminds me of those perfume spraying ladies in Debenhams.

I like this. Those ladies lost there jobs, sadly, but may have a higher calling...

SinnerBoy · 25/10/2023 12:51

Right, son any more lip and you get the Opium!

DarkDayforMN · 25/10/2023 13:00

I can’t feel sorry for her after remembering her expression and her “I don’t care” while using five other police officers to bully that child. This incident in isolation might have been a product of panic rather than viciousness, but the other thing looked like sheer sadism.

Normally I feel bad for women who are the target of mob rage online; even when they’ve behaved somewhat badly the mob reaction is always amplified by misogyny and I can’t help thinking about men who’ve done far worse without being witch-hunted. But I feel about as much sympathy for this woman as she did for the autistic teenager.
