most police officers manage to not go viral at any point, or have any social media coverage. Yet this one has managed it twice in a few months! Not a good look.

Totally unrelated question - what effects does testosterone have on a female body?

There were class A drugs found in the car, from what I’ve read elsewhere, so I don’t believe the “no reason” bit.

And the female officer was part of the backup, I think, rather than being involved in the original arrest.

There were certainly a lot of officers involved in the end. The longer clips doing the rounds show more than one van, and at least ten response cars, at the scene. I wouldn’t be surprised if that was pretty much the entire available shift for central Leeds attending the one incident.

Pixiedust1234 · 24/10/2023 15:54

Is there normally that many officers at a traffic stop or am I missing something?

I am also wondering if she was the designated sprayer so the others could have eyes on a greater number of people rather than them spraying one each. Although it was really weird seeing her leave the safety of the other officers to disappear from sight with no backup following. Seemed at odds to the beginning of only less than a minute.

MammaTo · 24/10/2023 16:09

She’s awful and needs sacking.

Also I know this seems very ageist - but barely any of them officers look over the age of 25 and have no physical presence about them, apart from the officers all in black (which I’m assuming are a different team/rank).
If they turned up to deal with a gang of grown men who could handle themselves, they’d have no choice but to resort to extra force.

0ElectronBlue0 · 24/10/2023 16:13

She’s out of control, thank goodness our police don’t have guns as standard.

Sorry but that is a clip out of context in what looks like the start middle of a mini riot.
Here is her problem (and is biology) she is smaller than the men and women on the police "side" and has a high pitched voice but can be more agressive in the crowd control without having the men in the group she is targeting be able to start a fight with her.
She appears to target specific men too and manages to drive the crowd back from whatever is going on in the car and in the background.
IMO Her actions with the prior arrest was without common sense policing but in this instance fuck around and find out policing appears to have "calmed" the situation down.
i would like to see more than a single clip before yelling sack her over this.🤷‍♀️

meh - she is the ONLY one behaving like that. She is out of control with anger.

I am very surprised that a) nobody was managing her behaviour and b) nobody appeared to be trying to deescalate the situation.

She literally ran up and sprayed a lad in the face - it is outside all regulations for use of that particular weapon, AFAIK.

I have done riot training (as a rioter, can fully recommend) - we knew which ones we could get really wound up very easily and targeted them. She'd have been top of our list.

Maaate · 24/10/2023 16:48

get back now' she shouts whilst running towards the people who were already standing back 🙄

DavidChecker · 24/10/2023 16:57

I would have expected to see a Sargent on the ground and taking charge. The officers were all milling about looking for a lead.

WickedSerious · 24/10/2023 17:17

I love the idea of a 'designated sprayer'.

Grin

Couldn't think of a better phrase at the time. Although i must admit it does bring connotations of some masculine traits to mind.

Boiledbeetle · 24/10/2023 18:48

Whatever the context of the clip she is definitely a little too agitated for my liking. I hope they never let her have a job in the armed response unit,

JanesLittleGirl · 24/10/2023 18:56

OK, I'm going to risk it. When will the 125th can of catfood be along to explain that her actions conformed to the Ladybird Book of Coppering?

AutumnCrow · 24/10/2023 18:57

I've just watched a longer video on Twitter and yeah, she lost control.

What rank is she? I think I read during Lesbian Nana #1 that she was in charge of that 'op', maybe a sergeant? Some of the other officers behind her look like they would like to pull her back but don't know.

Winnading · 24/10/2023 19:51

Weirdly earlier today I was thinking about this woman, if she had any consequences for arresting the young girl.
Seems not.

Maybe this will be the event that tips over into actually doing something about her.

She appears to target specific men too and manages to drive the crowd back from whatever is going on in the car and in the background.

Admittedly the camera / phone swings around a bit so you don’t see everything she does but I disagree about the targeting. It looks indiscriminate to me (from this limited viewpoint).

There is at least one other colleague who has his pava in hand at the end of the clip but doesn’t appear to have felt threatened enough to actually spray it (or it’s just not captured in the footage) and a couple of batons drawn which, again, don’t appear to have been used.

It’s notable that the older / more experienced (and incidentally armed) officers in the footage haven’t deployed batons, sprays or tasers and look pretty chill. It’s the YTS-age plods that are rattled and who have weapons in hand.

I agree with this but I'm also wondering if they don't have anything drawn because the younger police are supposed to be doing so or they're letting them handle it. I think you can frame it as you say or that they're not bringing a lot of value. One is just standing around. Another expertly deescalated a lad filming and pushing by simply standing there and walking towards him. It's very interesting to see the difference in tactics but I'm not sure if it's supposed to be that way or as you say.

Also agree with a PP that this time her fuck around and find out technique did deescalate but Jesus it could have got a lot worse.

BettyBunMaker · 24/10/2023 20:00

I'm sure I saw on Twitter than the young girls as going to sue.

WeighDownOnMeStayTillMorning · 24/10/2023 20:36

Fuck around and find out policing?? 😮

Come the fuck on. Indiscriminately pepper spraying people in the face is what happened.
Police really shouldn't be using weapons to fuck around and find out.

moley has done a fantastic thing on Twitter about this. The details are great.😂

PronounssheRa · 24/10/2023 21:08

She is an absolute liability. She loses her head, places herself and colleagues at risk and gains more ridicule in the press.

I would hate to be one of her colleagues on shift wondering what situation she is going to inflame next.

I can't work twitter so would be grateful if you had a link.

I see another source is saying that the mum of the teen is stating that she was told that the officer involved was suspended... can't have been a very long suspension!

I know exactly why this story has piqued my attention so much. I work with autistic young adults and it always worries concerns me they will run into a police officer like this - we've had some pretty hairy experiences over the last couple of years with frankly, batshit decisions from officers who seem to have very little life experience or understanding of the mental capacity act.

There's always been the odd police officer who is known as a bit of a dick but it feels endemic currently at the coal face trying to work with them and often finding their 'help' is mostly counterproductive.

I'm a middle class, middle aged professional who used to have good working relationships with the police. Wouldn't ring them now for anything unless I was professionally obligated to and even the I'm very very careful in how I word my reports.

VintedNotMintead · 24/10/2023 21:53

Is she a "transman"?

Is it terrible that I'm absolutely LOVING the fact that she was so offended by a little autistic girl calling her lesbian nana and now the whole of Britain is calling her that because of her tantrum over it 😂😂😂

Pixiedust1234 · 25/10/2023 00:33

I keep reading the title as Les Bananas when I'm scanning the active threads *sighs
