The Guardian have just posted an invitation to put questions to Eddie Izzard. This feels like a great opportunity to get a well worded, gender critical question out there. The thing is I'm a bit stuck, collectively we must be able to come up with something though!

Perhaps, this will help. In 2016 someone did pictures of the Little Mermaid characters as real people. Here's the Ursula one. Compare it with a recent picture of izzard dressed as a Tunnocks teacake. Izzard is the one on the.... teacake....right!

I clicked on those screenshots and, rather stupidly, was expecting to see riveting questions. Oh dear.

The question at the end about comedy for cheers rather than comedy for laughs was a good one I thought.

Generally speaking, I try to avoid commenting on people’s appearance.

But when certain people make their stereotyped appearance on any given day the essence of whether or not they’re a woman, insulting millions of women in the process, then in my eyes they’ve fired the first shot and are fair game for whatever ribbing might come their way.

Most people can’t help certain things about their appearance, and so those things shouldn’t be commented on. Eddie can help the fact he’s a 60+ year old bloke dressing and making himself up like a stereotype of a 1970s sitcom barmaid…he makes an active choice to do so, to fulfil a fetish, and therefore his choices and what they do to his appearance are up for critique.

(I don’t agree with the Denise Welch comment though…for Denise’s sake.)

Most men who transition have terrible taste in clothes, possibly because it is anew to them. You Eddie have been wearing women's clothes for decades so why did your dress sense disappear when you put on 'girl mode'?

I’d want to ask Eddie if the switching between girl and boy mode is a choice or is it something spontaneous that just happens. Like does he just wake up some days and find he is in girl mode? If so, how does that work if he wakes up in girl mode on a day where he needs to be in boy mode for an acting role 🤔

Ah, this is where you are going wrong. You think that we are a hive mind who have "allies". And you think that once you are allied or part of "the cause" there are rules to follow and members can be coerced into all using the same language and parroting the exact same opinions whether we believe them or not.

You think that saying you find something offensive is enough to force others to be quiet.

I think it's great you don't want Eddie to be compared to female cartoon characters because you find it offensive. It's a perfectly valid opinion.

It makes absolutely no difference to the problem of men like Eddie being allowed in women's spaces when they should use men's spaces.
