Eh?? Report it?!
Of course nurses are entitled to post political opinions on sm.

Yeah, thats not a thing.

Rudderneck · 06/10/2023 01:06

Stephannee · 06/10/2023 00:44

If it happened.

As per link above 102 FOI requests found zero complaints were raised by fellow patients about transgender women on female wards in UK hospitals.

It's not actually controversial that it happened, it's been extensively reported on, it was quite a long, drawn out battle to get the hospital involved to finally admit there was in fact a man in the ward.

FlissyPaps · 06/10/2023 01:38

Get a bloody grip, OP.

Delete her off your friends list and then block her if her opinions offend you.

The tories have been shafting the NHS for years!!! Years and years of cuts and underfunding has lead to the NHS at breaking point.

This is exactly why Rishi has made the trans comments regarding hospital wards. He wants the attention to be taken away from the dire financial and understaffed state the NHS is in at the result of 10+ years of austerity.

He doesn’t give a shit about trans or non-trans patients. This is all part of his media circus.

LittleBoxesOnAHillside · 06/10/2023 01:59

This'll bring all the secret, midnight gin guzzling Telegraph readers out of the woodwork, lol.

momonpurpose · 06/10/2023 02:05

As a nurse she is totally unprofessional. As a medical professional you treat who ever comes in. My very best friend had to treat a very famous cult leader murderer when he was dying. She did her job the same as if it had been John Anyone off the street

Itllbegrand · 06/10/2023 02:12

That is outrageous. Totally bringing the profession into disrepute and questionable how any person would be treated if not aligned with her believes. Completely wrong in any profession. Report absolutely

Lolasgame · 06/10/2023 02:13

LOL if she gets the Tory voters and Terf bigots fumminnn I’m all for it 🤣🤣

Firetree · 06/10/2023 02:25

Probably also responsible for the Tories are scum threads on mumsnet.

Desecratedcoconut · 06/10/2023 02:41

I wonder if the people who think that this is a reasonable political statement which is fair game for a nurse who wishes to publicly express these kind of preferences would be such freedom of speech champions if the words tory and transwoman were reversed in that sentence?

CharlieBigPotatoes1 · 06/10/2023 02:42

Oh get over yourselves, she is entitled to her opinion. Some of you are demented, comparing it to a child murderer? You sound hysterical.

GrannyRose15 · 06/10/2023 02:42

Signalbox · 05/10/2023 22:48

I think people should be allowed to participate in political debate on social media. I'm intrigued what NHS social media policy says that would mean a statement like this was crossing a line. It's not personal or bullying.

It’s quite frightening though to think that a nurse doesn’t want you on their ward because of your political opinion.

CharlieBigPotatoes1 · 06/10/2023 02:44

Lolasgame · 06/10/2023 02:13

LOL if she gets the Tory voters and Terf bigots fumminnn I’m all for it 🤣🤣

Me too.

Redbird87 · 06/10/2023 03:13

I think many women are concerned that getting hc workers like this would mean subpar care. If she posted that she'd rather share a bathroom w a tw than a tory, or whatever else unrelated to the profession she's in, that would be completely different.

When you're in the public sector, especially in the health field, it's important to avoid anything that could insinuate that you might do a poorer job with some patients than others.

PuggyInTheMuddle · 06/10/2023 03:15

It’s a stupid meme.

Highly unlikely it reflects her actual practice on the ward.

How very nasty, to anonymously report people to their employers.

Reminiscent of some quite bullying Activist behaviour….

If you are genuinely concerned about this message her and tell her to be mindful of her work SM policy.

Or be direct: post ‘do nurses really make value judgements about their patients? ‘.

What would reporting her achieve? Make you feel good? Ugh.

Toddlerteaplease · 06/10/2023 03:26

I don't really see how that's bringing the profession into disrepute. She can post what she likes.

Toddlerteaplease · 06/10/2023 03:27

Karensalright · 05/10/2023 22:30

Nurses are not supposed to post professional issues on social media report it

It's not a professional issue.

Toddlerteaplease · 06/10/2023 03:32

This is referring to if she was a patient, not her treating anyone. If she said she'd rather treat a transperson over a Tory. That would be different.

Desecratedcoconut · 06/10/2023 03:38

And if she posted:

I'd rather share a ward with a tory than a trans person

...then that would be fine too, right?

14blackcrows · 06/10/2023 03:40

Stating a preference doesn't mean you would give sub par care.
I've had to give medical care to convicted paedophiles... and I've done it with the same level of care and professionalism that I would afford anyone.
But that doesn't mean I have no preference over who I'd rather be caring for!
As an NHS worker it is your job to give everybody the best standard of care that you are able... it is not your job to have no personal opinions about what type of people you prefer to be around.

Desecratedcoconut · 06/10/2023 03:43

Personally, I'd rather share a ward with a trans man than a trans woman. I'm glad that we can state preferences without accusations of bigotry.

LuciaPillson · 06/10/2023 03:56

welcometothepartyyy · 05/10/2023 22:41

I'm not going to report her. She's just some misplaced woman I worked with year ago no doubt all puffed up with Mermaids crap.

But she's totally in breach of NHS social media policy.

Very sad for a senior manager in peadriatic nursing to sink so low and be so unprofessional. I feel sorry for her but I have no intention of getting her into trouble at work.

Just wish she'd exercise some personal discretion.

OP stated "I'm not going to report her" on Page 1 of the thread.
OP stated "I have no intention of getting her into trouble at work".

The most she's said, in another comment, is that she plans to delete the person on social media, which seems fair enough if she doesn't want to read her posts.

And yet I'm reading comments in which people are asking OP what is wrong with her, that she's harassing the nurse, that she's asking whether she should try to get the nurse fired, and how nasty it is that she's reporting this woman and getting her into trouble at work.

But she isn't? Is there something I'm not understanding? You may disagree with OP's views just as OP disagrees with the nurse's views, and again that's fair enough, but why say she's reporting/harassing/trying to get the nurse fired if that isn't the case?

VesperLynne · 06/10/2023 04:08

There are thick, stupid and ignorant ppl in all walks of life. She’s just one more.

Mummyoflittledragon · 06/10/2023 04:34

Desecratedcoconut · 06/10/2023 02:41

This is a very good point. I suspect not.

fortheloveofjamdoughnuts · 06/10/2023 04:35

TBH I'm sure a lot of NHS staff are feeling a little anti right wing right now. I don't think it's any harm - I don't like people pushing their political agenda's either way but that's facebook for you

fortheloveofjamdoughnuts · 06/10/2023 04:36

@Desecratedcoconut

trans people don't affect your salary.....
