Just curious to see what the answers here might be.
Would you vote Tory if Kemi Badenoch was the Tory party leader and the election was tomorrow?
Feel free to answer any way you like, and I don't care about derailing. The question is quite tongue in cheek, don't take it too seriously, and have fun with it if you want, rant if you want. I'm trying to get a picture of the MN mood.

Pity we can't design a leader using AI. Mine would be a sort of Mick Lynch Anna Soubry composite with a dollop of Rosie Duffield. Tricky I know.

What a wonderful idea.
I'd like some Kemi Badenoch, Wes Streeting, Dennis Skinner, Rosie Duffield, Ash Regan, and a big blob of Boris Johnson for comedic effect.

Other stuff being... the urgent need to address climate breakdown, the crisis in the NHS which meant that when my son's GP referred him urgently with a suspected brain tumor (false alarm thank God) it was a two month wait and that was with my GP calling weekly and being told "we know its urgent, this is our timescale for urgent ", the level of abject poverty in this country disproportionately impacting single mothers, the major issues in the educational sector, the human rights crises in multiple countries...

I want my kids to have a world to grow up in. That's my voting priority.

I want my children to grow up in a world that has robust safeguarding for women and children and vulnerable people. I want my children to grow up in a world with accurate data collection. That will make dealing with the NHS easier as well.

Ha very good @lechiffre55 ! I'm afraid 'Colour Me Keir ' Starmer won't add anything to the mix. Mr Menno would certainly liven up the craic. We could cheat and have a few non pols blended in?

Brilliant! I'd love her as Taoiseach over here . Or British PM for sure. I suppose she should be FM of Scotland really though?

@TooBigForMyBoots

At best, the Conservative party is useless wrt women's rights. At worst their continuing chaos and erosion of those rights will be to the detriment of women as a class.

I will give you that the Conservatives are rubbish, but will try to appeal to the people before an election.

But I'm pretty sure that they aren't actually committed to the extreme trans ideology.

If they went along with it, it's maybe because they thought it wasn't worth fighting the left on this kind of stuff when they had the momentum with the gay marriage victory. (Yeah that was done in the UK by a Tory government but it split the party.)

What I'm thinking about Labour, is that they may try to downplay things before an election, but they may have the ideological commitment.

Tories suck, yes.

But imo this nonsense was invented by the left, by whatever mix of their prized virtue of diversity and inclusion, human rights advocacy taken to the point where it's just a vehicle for one side's agenda, academic theories about gender, maybe the desire to breakdown the traditional order with an overconfident ego in their own wisdom and righteousness, and just needing a new cause for the activists to go for next.

lechiffre55 · 02/11/2023 20:53

@PorcelinaV
No no you don't understand. The Tories are behind the whole TRA assault on women's rights. The proof is staring you in the face so brazenly it stops you seeing it!
Where does Rishi Sunak live? 10 Downling street. People think that 10 is "ten" but it's not, it's two binary numbers, and then the next bit is Downing. They are Downing the binary! Down with binary. Once you see it sheeple you can't unsee it! It's staring us in the right in the face.
Take the first letter of the word Government, then the first letter of the Prime Minister's name Rishi, then the first letter of their party Conservatives. What do you have? GRC!!!! The Tories have been planning this for decades in a secret cabal that meets every Thursday midnight under a full moon in the WOMEN'S toilets in the Houses of Parliament. Have you ever seen any women's going into the women's toilets at midnight on a Thursday in the houses of parliamentals? No of course you havn't and that's becuase it's their secret meeting time, this proves it!
The Tories are making the Labour people say wrong things by remote control chips installed by Bill Gates in COVID injections! It's all a trick by the Tories and the super secret army disinformation unit 777 working with M15 and the CIB ( like the CIA but so secret no one has ever heard of them ) to mislead the public about Labour's intentions on women's rights. And women have too many rights already, so many that they have turned into dinosaurs eggs. Dinorsaurs are going to hatch from those eggs and roam the streets of London town misgendering the most vulnerable people in society, have you not seen Jurassic Park? Do you not care? This will all be your fault for hoarding dangerous dinosaur egss!!!! How cruel do you have to be to want Londoners to be eaten by dinosaurs?!?!?
Brexit was just a distraction operation by the Tories to cover their attack on women's rights. MI5 went online and bought a campervan and parked it on Nicola Sturgeon's driveway when she wasn't looking to confuse her into putting rapists in women's prisons. This dastarly plot worked so well the Nicola Sturgeon was so confused by the campervan she can't remember how it got there, where all the money went, or why all her emails and whatsapp messages got deleted. I'm telling you MI5 are using MK Ultra level psyops to help the Tories erode women's rights and make us believe it's down to the other parties by listening to what they say. If you look on the TV you can see their lip movements don't match the audio, that's because it's being live overdubbed by an AI with a script provided by Tory spindoctors cloned from Demonic Cumings!!! Wake up people!! See what's right in front of you!!!!

( For those who need this here is a sarcasm notice. This post is just a piss take. No I havn't hacked your computer and stolen all your ideas ( or have I? :) ), I'm just making stupid stuff up to illustrate a point. )

The Tories have not delivered anything like this. But I’m alright jack. The country can go to the dogs, be looted and pillaged, be ruled by venal incompetents who play games with the lives of lessor mortals, enrich the few and destroy the fabric and infrastructure of this country as long as the Tories know what a woman is.

Good for you. I take it you don’t live in Wales (Labour) or Scotland (SNP/Green) where health, education, housing, infrastructure has all been tumbling? Where self ID is pushed along with criminalisation of opposition to it including in your own home, where children are being indoctrinated with gender ideology in schools, where basic statistics are being undermined? All by labour or with their support.

Scotland nor Wales are separate countries... i don't know why you think they are?

Austerity is UK wide, led by the Tories since 2010, everything that has happened in either Scotland or Wales has happened in England.

NHS, Education, housing & infrastructure are all in unmanaged decline across the UK.

Even after the men in female prisons debacle in Scotland, Westminster decided to legislate - the minister chose that only violent men wouldn't be sent to female prisons.... but non violent men can be... you seem perfectly ok with this & bear in mind, for 13 years the law allowed violent men to be sent to female prisons :(

I'm not, which is why i wont be voting for more of the same under the Tories.

ArabellaScott · 03/11/2023 08:31

Bananas, many of these issues are devolved in Scotland. Westminster doesn't set our prison rules, for example.

SaffronSpice · 03/11/2023 08:41

NHS and Education are devolved. And in Scotland so are certain tax raising powers, hence Scotland pay more tax than the UK. The Scottish Government spend less on education and health than the Tories (despite the extra taxes and extra from the Barnett formula). The abysmal ‘Curriculum for Excellence’ and the ‘LGBTQ+ inclusive curriculum’ is not down to the Tories, nor the Hate Crimes Act, the Gender Recognition Reform Bill, the proposed conversion therapy bill - all supported or voted for by Labour. The census with its corrupted statistics was run separately in Scotland and failed to get adequate responses to provide reliable figures, unlike in England. The housing rental market has been decimated with rents rising faster than anywhere else in the UK due to rent control. Much are you love to blame all bad things on the Tories, other parties are just as corrupt and at least as capable of incompetence and them.

Rudderneck · 03/11/2023 09:33

Yeah, this whole thing about caring about other issues too is great, but where is this assumption that Labour has some plans to do something about them coming from?

It's pretty clear that they don't have more resources. They are going to be working with the same basic situation.

So what is this plan that will rejuvenate the NHS or fix education? Apart from indulging in some kind of class resentment bollocks with fee paying schools that will have no effect on giving kids better education.

Exactly this

if women are going to vote for a gender captured party at least weigh up what you’ll get

There’s no extra funding, scrabbling around for ideological gimmicks do not count.

Why do you think the Tories might? They haven't bothered their arses over the past 13 years. They refuse to provide guidance for schools. Fuck they can't even safeguard their own from members of their party.

Edited

Because they finally seem to be listening. They stepped away from Self ID and put in the s35 to stop the GRR bill in Scotland. They voted against the GRR bill, they voted against the Hate Crimes bill. Their Ministers are making very direct announcements about it.

SaffronSpice · 03/11/2023 16:45

The might as opposed to will is because, while we have been saved from diving down the ideologist route full throttle in the way Labour are voting in Scotland/doing in Wales/proposing from the shadow benches, they have not been committed enough about rowing back from where we are or addressing the problems with the captured civil service.

Rent controls? Scottish rents rose by 13%, London by 12%, England exc London - 10% and they went up in Scotland because Landlords found a way around the law, not that rent controls are wrong in themselves, i see Sunak has scrapped his No Fault evictions bill, that will help tenants wont it?

Yes much of the issues in the UK are down to the Tories, you can cheery pick but the bottom line is the issues in Scotland/Wales are mirrored in England, i'd take more notice of your pro Tory views if things were better in England but they are not.
Your party of choice has been in for 13 years and have done zero absolutely nothing to limit men becoming "women" indeed they ve made it easier.

Its easy to say "all parties are the same" its just an attempt to make people stick with their traditional vote & paper over the Tories failures in every aspect of UK life.

In some cases worse. As in @SaffronSpice pp
