Employment Tribunal starts next Monday, not sure if it is available for remote viewing.

I have sent a request so we will see.

The case hasn't really got going yet. I have a hope, possibly overgenerous, that all the pronoun and time wasting nonsense is a result of inexperience and anxiety about getting it 'right' rather than actual bias or capture.
If it goes to appeal, for whatever reason, at least it will be binding. Spade at the ready.

LarkLane · 05/10/2023 09:43

Thanks @CriticalCondition it's really frustrating not being able to follow in real time.

Just popping in to say I'm another one who has asked for a link to join and not received anything. Not even an acknowledgement that I've asked.

And me. I’m not sure if it’s worth complaining as I did request access quite late

So the judge has not given her own pronouns. She's required Ben Cooper to give his and Jo's pronouns, but not asked others in the court to comply with her pronoun requirements.

Did she ask the OU barrister to announce HER pronouns as she did with BC? If not, then she's not even consistent in her actions. Along with all the faffing.

Employment Tribunal Rules extract. Full document link at bottom.

2.The overriding objective of these Rules is to enable Employment Tribunals to deal with cases fairly and justly. Dealing with a case fairly and justly includes, so far as practicable—
(a)ensuring that the parties are on an equal footing;

(b)dealing with cases in ways which are proportionate to the complexity and importance of the issues;

(c)avoiding unnecessary formality and seeking flexibility in the proceedings;

(d)avoiding delay, so far as compatible with proper consideration of the issues; and

(e)saving expense.

A Tribunal shall seek to give effect to the overriding objective in interpreting, or exercising any power given to it by, these Rules. The parties and their representatives shall assist the Tribunal to further the overriding objective and in particular shall co-operate generally with each other and with the Tribunal.

But did Ben Cooper give his? He doesn't seem like the sort of person who would "have" pronouns.

It doesn't matter, they give access usually, even if it has already started, please complain.

He gave a brief answer to the question but thanks to the poor sound on Monday I couldn't tell you what he actually said.

LipbalmOrKnickers · 05/10/2023 10:01

Same, alas it was lost to the ether.

In other news, tick tock, it's gone ten o'clock...

IcakethereforeIam · 05/10/2023 10:03

I'm hoping he said 'Da fuck!?', but I think he'd be far too polite.

@RocketPanda glad you're back with us and still GC. Did they find any evidence of 'lady brain' while they were in there?

Well she's definitely not avoided delay with all the pronouns and timetabling rubbish. So at least one rule has been broken and I think compelling preferred pronoun usage for people who aren't true believers in GI probably breaks the 'ensuring that parties are on an equal footing' rule. It's like demanding a Muslim employee state which denomination of Christianity they ID as in a trial where the employer is being brought to court due to alleged islamophobic bullying.

LipbalmOrKnickers · 05/10/2023 10:06

And we're in.

dimorphism · 05/10/2023 10:07

I'm not sure I can bear to try and log in today. It's just so depressing already. The at best incompetence and at worst total political capture of the judge.

katmarie · 05/10/2023 10:10

Laptop problems again...

GCITC · 05/10/2023 10:10

Still in the online waiting room here 😑

ickky · 05/10/2023 10:10

30 seconds in, the judge has stopped proceeding as her laptop is fucked. Justin is ignoring her.

OP posts:
MyLadyDisdainlsYetLiving · 05/10/2023 10:10

Justin?! Not sure whether to laugh or cry...

LipbalmOrKnickers · 05/10/2023 10:11

Something 'extremely weird' has happened to Judge's laptop. 'JUSTIN!!!'

22 observers today, 16 not directly connected to court.

Melissamelisante · 05/10/2023 10:11

you couldn't make this up

MyLadyDisdainlsYetLiving · 05/10/2023 10:12

I count 15 or 16 observers online that aren't related to the court or the claimant/respondent staff

LarkLane · 05/10/2023 10:12

Eventually, even if it be on appeal, Prof Jo Phoenix will win, thanks to many incredible women and men backing her. I'm holding that thought.
(And my Autumn Gardening catalogue)

MyLadyDisdainlsYetLiving · 05/10/2023 10:13

Fuck sake, a break until 10.30!!!

LipbalmOrKnickers · 05/10/2023 10:13

Taking a break, coming back at half past! 😑

ickky · 05/10/2023 10:13

we're going to a break, back at 10.30am

OP posts:
LarkLane · 05/10/2023 10:13

Does Justin look like Mr. Tumble?

LipbalmOrKnickers · 05/10/2023 10:14

A moment of silence please for the timetable.

ickky · 05/10/2023 10:14

Well all that time spent minute by minute scheduling is up the spout.
