'Cheryl has promised to "bring the glamour" to the kitchen but has also been "cooking my little Essex bum off" in preparation.
She added like every Essex girl she is a lover of a chippy at the end of a night out and always had a hankering for a battered sausage or saveloy.'

Celebrity MasterChef: Cheryl Hole on why LGBTQ+ representation is important

The drag star says being on Celebrity MasterChef is a way to have voices of the LGBTQ+ community heard.

'You see, darling, some people refer to women as 'holes', and this man is pretending to be a woman called 'Cheryl COLE' so he's changed it to HOLE!!! Isn't that just cheeky and daring and hiLARIOUS?'

OP posts:
NeedToKnow101 · 16/08/2023 11:59

I would sue if I was the actual Cheryl. It's so nasty and misogynistic and reducing women in general, and her in particular, to holes.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 16/08/2023 12:03

The first response I got was basically a history of drag.

How tedious.

CurlewKate · 16/08/2023 12:23

@ArabeIIaKarenScott "A 'cheeky' play on words? How is it 'cheeky'? What is the pun referring to, so that I can explain it 'in a family setting'

Could you ask them that? I think focussing on the name is the important thing here-don't give them any wriggle room to avoid the question and focus on the drag aspect.

BernardBlacksMolluscs · 16/08/2023 12:26

I read that article with my eyebrows at my hairline

  1. why is he doing a reality show in character, the weirdo?

  2. why has he got such a horrible name?

  3. why the fuck is he wittering about sausages? Is it ‘cheeky’?

  4. why is this offensive bullshit on before the watershed?

  5. why do I still pay my tv licence again? (Oh yes, Radcliffe and Maconie, the end)

argh

BernardBlacksMolluscs · 16/08/2023 12:27

the BBC just DO NOT GET IT do they?

we are obliged by law to pay for them. They’re not at liberty to push any sexist queer theory bullshit agenda they feel like

ArabeIIaKarenScott · 16/08/2023 12:27

why the fuck is he wittering about sausages? Is it ‘cheeky’?

Yes, because, do you see, sausages are shaped like penises! So his entire schtick revolves around hiliarious family friendly jokes about genitals! God, how we laughed.

OP posts:
BernardBlacksMolluscs · 16/08/2023 12:29

Are penis jokes more funny if the person who made them is a man dressed like little miss muffet and sporting a stuffed bra?

just trying to figure out at what point I should laugh

loislovesstewie · 16/08/2023 12:31

I have complained, I'm expecting nothing sensible.

Oh, they're not FUNNY. They're INCLUSIVE.

BernardBlacksMolluscs · 16/08/2023 12:44

I’ve complained. I just can’t believe that in 2023 the BBC are doing ‘women are just holes! They like sausages because they like penises!’

has Bernard Manning risen from the dead and been made controller of BBC1?

ArabeIIaKarenScott · 16/08/2023 12:45

It's Bernard Nonmanning, Bernard.

I know you can say this about most television in 2023 but this is literally from Alan Partridge - cook with Fanny Thomas on the Christmas Knowing Me, Knowing You, nearly 30 years ago.

BernardBlacksMolluscs · 16/08/2023 12:49

I know that in the scheme of things this is small fry. But I pay for a number of streaming services

the BBC are both the most expensive and the shittest

they’re also the only one who could arrange to have my collar felt if I unsubscribe

why should I put up with this antediluvian sexist bullshit? Sorry, I of course mean cheeky bantz

Idratherbepaddleboarding · 16/08/2023 12:57

I don’t really care about men wearing so called “women’s clothes” (although women don’t dress like that!) as long as they’re not claiming to be a woman, but fucking hell that name is so offensive. And actually very typical of that horrible, laddish “every hole’s a goal” attitude, not very lady like!

PorcelinaV · 16/08/2023 12:59

Unless you're a sports fan, I doubt there is anything on live TV (or iplayer) that is worth paying a TV licence for.

TheHappyCarrot · 16/08/2023 13:05

If I see a programne has drag on, I switch off as it makes my stomach turn watching the idiotic fawning and innuendo.

SamW98 · 16/08/2023 13:26

So as far as the BBC are concerned, being LGBTQ+ inclusive is shoehorning a drag Queen into every prime time tv show?

BernardBlacksMolluscs · 16/08/2023 13:57

Also I had no idea that Sam Fox had come out. You learn something new everyday

hamstersarse · 16/08/2023 14:04

I'd quite like to read the 'history of drag' that the BBC put in their reply.

I would surmise that drag didn't start off as 'family entertainment'?

She came out a while back. She is now married (again - I think she was married to her late partner) and seems pretty happy with life.

CurlewKate · 16/08/2023 14:26

@hamstersarse "I'd quite like to read the 'history of drag' that the BBC put in their reply."
"Drag as a cultural phenomenon dates back to Tudor times. It has been established as a form of entertainment for many years and drag queens have featured on mainstream pre-watershed TV for a long time – right back to when Lily Savage presented Blankety Blank.

Diversity and inclusion is a core part of who we are and what we do, as an organisation. The BBC is committed to reflecting and representing the diversity of the UK across all of our output.

We can assure you it’s never our intention to upset or offend our viewers, however, we appreciate you may continue to feel Cheryl Hole is an inappropriate contributor to feature on the programme."

Ereshkigalangcleg · 16/08/2023 14:28

Ye Olde Blankety Blank

BernardBlacksMolluscs · 16/08/2023 14:29

We love diversity

we like to ensure men who think women are just holes are fully represented

ArabeIIaKarenScott · 16/08/2023 14:29

Lily Savage wasn't called 'Lily fuckbucket Savage', though, was he? What disengenuous pish. It's the double think, too. That they are both prim with their long and illustrious history of misogyny - I mean, syphilis dates back to fucking Tudor times, doesn't make it a good thing! - and ridiculous with their 'it's just a cheeky reference to women's vaginas! All good family fun!'
