Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

It's just so incredibly stupid and how is it raising awareness for anything?
These people are idiots. The only question is why anyone puts them on a platform in the first place.
What's next? Pretending to pee on stage and then throwing grubby toilet rolls at kids to raise awareness of cystitis?
And then feeling all proud and virtuous when people object so you can call them homophobic.
I can't roll my eyes any harder at it tbh.

Next week I'm being recorded debating drag with a drag queen for a podcast.

Thought I'd do some homework, so went to Drag Night at the Clapham Grand, one of London's leading drag events.

The main act's show was stripping to reveal enormous fake breasts. 'She' got a geeky looking man from the audience onstage, squirted him with fake cream from the breasts, then squirted the audience, including close-ups into the mouths of a few individuals. There was lots of banter about what sluts the drag queens all were, and about licking each other's arses. That was the show.

I'm open-minded, and in favour of gender nonconformity, but it was the most misogynistic bilge I've ever seen.

It's also just shite. No depth, nuance, humour or insight.

I'm quite happy with out there performance, for adults.

But this tedious, one dimensional student theatre stuff is so fucking depressingly dull.

It's not Marina Abramovic, that's for sure.

MrsMarzetti · 12/08/2023 18:14

Fuckwits, the lot of them. I have absolutely no patience for these idiots anymore.

Datun · 12/08/2023 18:18

I can't roll my eyes any harder at it tbh.

Me too.

There can't be a single person on the entire planet apart, from Mx Utterly Self Obsessed, who isn't rolling their eyes.

It's risible, cringing, banal rubbish.

ArabeIIaScott · 12/08/2023 18:23

It's risible, cringing, banal rubbish.

That's the best review it'll get.

This charming person is due to perform as part of something called 'The Duke's Cabinet of Curiosities' in Norwich next month and is described thus:

Mx Slaybia
Gender? Oh, you won’t be needing that here. Born on the planet Vulvarix but now observing the humans of Norwich, Slaybia's eclectic style of drag will take you on a journey to outer space as they take you to the stars with their silky vocals and dramatic lip-sync.
You'll be BEGGING for an alien invasion once they are through with you

Having read the DM article and seen the short clip on the Twitter link upthread I feel prospective audience members may be expecting more than what they actually get. Much, much more. Like….any discernible talent.

I think Mx "I'll trade on female things but pretend I am not one" has just put on a performance that counts as child abuse.

If a report went to social services that I had wrapped bloody pads around my waist, smeared blood down my thighs pretending it was period blood then grabbed tampons with my blood covered hands to throw at my own children, they WOULD be investigating an obviously unhealthy situation for any child to be put in - even if it wasn't real blood & I wore a crappy wig while doing it & denying I was female.

They should be investigating this person too.
And banning her from ever working near children again.

Why is it that every single thing these people seem to do would be regarded as a safeguarding concern if done by a normal person?

I used to think taboos were harmful, back when I hadn't got the faintest idea what they were protecting me from having to deal with.
Now I'm starting to think they were essential parts of safeguarding women & children.

I was thinking this. Norwich Council officers and Councillors might want to remind themselves of Working Together:

"Mx Slaybia"

What the fuck?

Yes. That was painful.

But also. Aliens probably don’t menstruate like adult human females. I reckon they are seasonal, like when the nebula-wind changes from Quirk to Happy or some such.

At any rate, this bloke has nothing to do with menstruation, so why is he on stage looking like a ghoul and chucking sanpro at young people?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 12/08/2023 19:06

She. Probably uses they.

turbonerd · 12/08/2023 19:13

Oh.

But how is she a drag Queen?
Or is she a drag King then?

charmless either way I’m afraid.

LoobiJee · 12/08/2023 19:17

“I'm quite happy with out there performance, for adults.
^^

Exactly this.

PatatiPatatras · 12/08/2023 19:20

It's vomit day today. Bleurgh. Even if it's red paint for symbolism.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 12/08/2023 19:50

Introduced by a drag queen. I think that's where the confusion arises.

stealtheatingtunnocks · 12/08/2023 20:10

All I saw was a queer theory addled female yelling at children. That happened before and the person who yelled at a baby turned out to be a SPAD or something political-assistant.

is this what happens when you reject wiman hood? You yell at children?

Oioicaptain · 12/08/2023 20:22

In fairness, I think that it would be more accurate to say that they threw tampons (which were actually new and wrapped) to an audience where some children were present. And in fairness a warning was given first. However, the individual involved seems wholly talentless and unable to actually make their point eloquently (whatever their point was)! They were presented with yet another opportunity when the story broke to highlight their cause, but instead chose that boring and unimaginative slur of a terf to any woman who dared to object. Men seemingly get away with objecting scott free! Apparently the 'alien' comes from the planet Vulveris, where there is no gender! One wonders whether there is biological sex however, given the planet's name and the catestrophic perioding that seems to take place! I can't stand drag acts in any event as they continually stereotype, sexualize and caricature women. This particular creature appears to be particularly immature and naive which I suppose happens when an individual expends so much effort on their own thoughts and identity, whilst failing to notice the wider society around them. They ought to take this as a learning opportunity instead of being so defensive.

Oioicaptain · 12/08/2023 20:28

I think that it would be rather entertaining to attend her next 'show' (s'cuz the pun) with a bus load full of kids armed with bloody tampons to lob back. Unless anyone can think of wittier missiles.

RebelliousCow · 12/08/2023 20:30

I hate the way that the trans lobby has hijacked issues around menstruation, as if nobody ever before has suffered from stigma, or the inability to afford sanitary protection, or tried to confront either of those things.

Just gross the way they have turned womanhood into such an ugly spectacle.

Oioicaptain · 12/08/2023 20:35

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 12/08/2023 16:38

Female, I would say. (Graphic content in this link.) https://twitter.com/PicturePrfct09/status/1685712945584517120?s=20

Well that clears that mystery up then! I think ...

mrshoho · 12/08/2023 20:51

Poor kids having to witness this tripe. Anyone who doesn't find this 'entertainment ' fucked up I would be very suspicious of.

MotherEarthisaTerf · 12/08/2023 21:00

This is as useful to period poverty campaigning as it would be to smear yourself in custard and hurl mince pies at children.

Fucksake.

*and call it campaigning for food poverty.

ladeluge · 12/08/2023 21:11

Why would parents bring children to this? Simple question really and is the nub of it I think.

Pride has been hijacked by the queer, trans and quite frankly mad people. LGB need to disassociate from the nutty fruitcakes stat.

JeanRondeausMadHair · 12/08/2023 22:01

More luxury belief garbage from the idle upper class twits. Honestly, it's so boring, and Leigh Bowery did all this and more thirty years ago.

fullbloom87 · 12/08/2023 22:07

Oh yeah that good old time of the year when we sling tampons at kids. All sounds healthy and above board 🙄
