This shows the arrest of a teenage autistic girl by about 5 police officers. From what I can make out it is for a 'hate' crime. She apparently said a police officer was a Lesbian. Her Nan is a lesbian - that police officer is like my Nan.

I cannot comprehend the mindset of these officers.

Do you fully support the police's actions here?

Not at all - and I have said as such

Moonberri · 10/08/2023 11:35

OK it seemed to me as though you were supporting the police here.

Felix125 · 10/08/2023 11:36

The only thing that was needed was for the officer to act like a grown-up and completely ignore the remark.

I agree - and i have said as such.
And I am speculating - that's why I am saying, 'probably'

Moonberri · 10/08/2023 11:32

Ooh no they wouldn't say that as that suggests only females can be lesbians. Didn't you know that a straight man who has a womanly feeling in his head is actually really a lesbian?

Ffs…I’m getting lost with all these conditions. So a straight man…who is attracted to women is now also a lesbian. Why?!

NotBadConsidering · 10/08/2023 11:37

Felix will never bring himself to fully criticise his colleagues so even if he thinks they were wrong he still seeks to find fault with the girl and what she said to ease any such criticism.

i expect they’ve used up all their training resources on LGBTQI+++ & didn’t bother having training on how to work with people with autism

I expect there are people who think you are joking. But you're probably right on the money.

I agree.

It must be a godsend to these awful, useful idiots.

Not having to solve crime, or tackle thugs, but allowing their pettiness and anger full reign with autistic teens.

Shelagh Fogarty used a wonderful turn of phrase with regards to Mhairi Black's use of Karen.

It’s the go to word for people who think they’re supporters of equality/progressives - the gap through which their loathing of certain women flows into broad daylight.

The police have certainly had a gap constructed for them too, through which their loathing can freely flow.

Datun · 10/08/2023 11:39

Moonberri · 10/08/2023 11:31

If I said to my friend "you look fat in that dress" and she was offended, that still isn't a criminal offence under section 5.

The police have to apply proportionality. My concern is that they abused their powers to arrest this girl and then release her without charge as a way of punishing/threatening her, knowing full well that she had not committed a crime and would never be prosecuted.

Felix, I don't know who you are but you are apparently infamous on threads about police. Do you fully support the police's actions here?

Felix supports no-one but himself, imo. And, despite this obviously being nothing to do with hate, or a crime, he will still make the entire thread about him and his opinion of it.

Somanycats · 10/08/2023 11:39

Felix has said several times that they (sorry!) don't support the police action and rightly so.

go back and watch the original video...my daughter was brought home by police..they said they brought her home to make sure she was safe. the officers never entered my home and told me my daughter WAS NOT under arrest. so I took my daughter out of the officers arms (she was gripping her so tight her arms had gone bright red due to lack of bloodflow) and guided her upstairs. As she was walking upstairs, bearing in mind the officer is still OUTSIDE my home my daughter turned to me and said "I think she's a lesbian like nanna julie"..and with that, the officer lunged at me, assaulting me while I had my back turned, and tried to grip my daughter. my daughter was so scared she ran inside the cupboard and made herself as small as she could. she repeatedly told the officer sorry and was crying saying she didn't do anything wrong. you see with autism she has no filter and is quite literally LITERAL in everything she says and does. this is the main reason she is misunderstood. my daughter was not aggressive, and did not raise her voice. instead she punched herself in the head several times due to the officer staring at her through gritted teeth and clenched fists. that officer was intimidating my child. she also never cautioned my daughter and never placed her under arrest, so it was both unlawful and illegal what that officer did. and not only that, but I also explained my daughter has severe scoliosis and a twisted spine, but it didn't stop

You can't have a hate crime without a crime. What is the criminal offence here? Saying that someone looks like my Nan, who is a lesbian, is not a criminal offence.

Exactly, there needs to be a crime before the 'hate' part can be attached to it, but it's clear from other incidents that the police don't let that important detail ruin their fun of bullying and intimidating people who have done nothing wrong.

Saying someone looks like your nana who is a lesbian is not a crime. Some bullying dickhead on a power trip getting offended by the word lesbian doesn't make it a crime either.

People are saying the police had just brought the girl home after she'd been missing? If that's true, imagine if the girl was just telling her mum that because she'd felt safe with the officer because she reminded her of her nan, only to then be cornered and dragged out of her house by six coppers because of it.

You'd have thought the police would be trained in how to deal with autistic teens in meltdown

They must have been busy out walking blokes dressed in bondage gear on dog leads or something on that day of training, Datun.

IKR? What the fuck did they think they were doing holding onto a furry on a lead???

i'm very glad Harry the owl has the college of policing in his sights. It has to be all about the training.

You wrote on the previous page:

I agree with you - but in this incident I believe the comment will fall into the 'abusive words' section.

You still feel it’s necessary, even if you’re saying the police actions were wrong, to find fault with what the girl said.

Saying “you like my nan who is a lesbian” is only abusive words in a clown world.

You get abused for saying a man's not a lesbian, and you get abused for saying a woman is.

At some point you have to realise that it doesn't matter what you say.

Moonberri · 10/08/2023 11:52

For me it was when you were saying stuff like "what if she'd said someone was a black b**ard". It sounded like you were supportive. I may have misread as I have Covid and a fuzzy head.

Straight men who "feel like a woman" are saying that they are lesbians. And that lesbians who don't want to be in a relation with a bepenised straight man with womanly feelings are bigoted and genital-fixated.

Mad innit?

Not at all - I'm suggesting what the offence would may have been classed as by that officer.

I personally don't agree with that - but that is what the officer has potentially arrested for.

beastlyslumber · 10/08/2023 11:58

I haven't watched the video because it honestly sounds utterly distressing.

WTF is the matter with the police? Meanwhile, actual crimes go un-prosecuted.

This is deeply upsetting and I really hope that all the officers involved are sacked.

If that is a real photo, I find it highly inappropriate. Awful. I have no words.

Exactly. You’re trying to give the officer justification by making out their perception could have seen it a certain way. You can’t bring yourself to say there was no justification for it.

It‘a like saying “the police officer was wrong to pull someone over for doing 59 in a 60 zone but they may have thought the driver was doing 70.”

Just say there was no justification for what they did. At all. Can you bring yourself to do that?

I would like to see what happened prior to this. We only have the mum saying she called her a lesbian. Did she assault the officer outside and then called her a lesbian ? There really must be more to this to warrent 5 police going in. ..

If it is as on the face of it it's dreadful.

Out in public - it would be s5 POA (as above)

But if the person it was aimed at is black - is it a racially aggravated crime?

In essence - is referring to someone as 'black' when they are black, racially motivated?

Well given the police have a specific IV code for black people if you are trying to some how make out that referring to someone as black when they are black is racially motivated and therefore somehow a crime I presume the police are going to arrest themselves?

Or is it only civilians who can be guilty of whatever it is you are trying to claim is a crime?
