Say you are at a party.....
Not quite as straightforward but since you used this thread, concerning the arrest of an autistic girl, to explain your reasoning I will do the same.
Say you are at a party. You are in the living room discussing maine coons. BoiledBeetle comes in and tells you in the kitchen they are discussing red pandas and you were interested in them previously, would you like to join the conversation.
I try and find the kitchen but cannot do so, so i come back into the front room to ask BoiledBeetle where it was - so they direct me to it. Whilst in the kitchen I can hear the conversation still ongoing in the front room and they start to discuss red pandas and also mention me in that conversation.
We now have a scenario where red pandas are being discussed in both rooms.
I then re-enter the conversation in the front room which at the time is now discussing red pandas.
But you are saying that its fine for everyone else in the front room to discuss red pandas, but i can not join in that conversation. You state that you can only discuss maine coons in the front room and red pandas in the kitchen and no other subjects are allowed in those rooms as you can not go 'off topic' under any circumstances. But its OK for other people to do so?
When I point out that that other conversations in the other rooms at this party often go completely off topic (talking sporadically about seals, desserts, cheese, stones, time travel etc etc). Then this appears to be alright, even though there is no logic as to when and how often this 'off topic talk' can happen - but i can not do it but anyone else can.
