This shows the arrest of a teenage autistic girl by about 5 police officers. From what I can make out it is for a 'hate' crime. She apparently said a police officer was a Lesbian. Her Nan is a lesbian - that police officer is like my Nan.

I cannot comprehend the mindset of these officers.

They have deleted it on their fb page too and put up the new update with comments disabled. On a post about some missing teenagers people are commenting that it’s unsafe for girls to contact the police as they’ll be arrested.

Plus reporting the family to social services 😡

I hope the family of the girl know that there are many people who would support them if they decide to sue.

Seems to me this force needs completely dismantled, every facet of training and management examined, and assessed, and rebuilt.

I think there are some things the family could do (again with the caveat that not everyone is up for life consuming battles). If I was the Mum I'd be on the phone asking Paula McGowan for some pointers in forcing public services to admit to their mistakes and provide mandatory training.

That’s a huge part of the rottenness at the core of so many police forces. They stick up for their colleagues no matter what.

Reading between the lines of that second statement, it sounds like an almighty "WTAF??!!!!" has been blasted down the lines to West Yorkshire Police.
