Stickering

I sticker regularly to raise awareness and they all get removed. Why is this? Other stickers aren't. Why can't people express their opinion? Took great pleasure in ripping down the Trans rights poster that's just appeared in my neighbourhood. If my stickers are removed, so will their poster.

Because it's illegal, vandalism and possibly a hate crime depending on what the stickers say.

If you are tearing down posters which have been put up legally(eg by the council etc) that's also illegal.

You don't have a right to deface or tear down other people's property. It's not yours.

RoseslnTheHospital · 15/08/2023 12:45

Plenty of campaign groups fly post or sticker to get their message across. Yes, it is illegal if you don't own the location that you post/sticker, you might get a £75 fixed penalty notice if caught, more likely you will just be told to remove the sticker and warned off. Removing someone else's flyposts or stickers is not going to be illegal.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 15/08/2023 12:45

Do you have this opinion also if the poster isn't an official one but put up by local trans activists? Are we ok to take it down then?

But it being illegal and vandalism, doesn't explain why only some of the stickers are being removed.

I doubt any GC stickers would be a "hate crime". It's probably just something like, "lesbians don't have penises", which should be well within legally protected freedom of expression.

Now of course, certain people may think any disagreement with their ideology is a "hate crime", and that's why perhaps they would want to remove them.

Would this shoe up on a criminal records check?

I need an enhanced check for work

TastesLikeStrawberriesOnASummerEvening · 16/08/2023 12:39

I know they're a hate crime in Scotland, but I'm not currently in Scotland, they don't ruin anything, nor do they take work to clean off soooooo...

Ah pretty!

Now, does ribboning count as vandalism and criminal damage?

ArabeIIaScott · 16/08/2023 22:26

Ribboning can be construed as murderous threat, iirc.

Cool, which station did you sticker these at?

Why are you repeatedly trying to locate women on here? It's frankly alarming.

RoseslnTheHospital · 16/08/2023 23:19

Yep, and transparent.

donnawinters · 16/08/2023 23:24

Why? Are you worried you might be in trouble if you were caught vandalising public property with hate stickers?

ArabeIIaScott · 16/08/2023 23:29

No, I'm worried someone with ill intent might harass, threaten or abuse women.

donnawinters · 16/08/2023 23:31

You mean a transphobe being arrested and charged by police?

AtrociousCircumstance · 16/08/2023 23:32

Thank you to all the women posting GC stickers ❤️

To the posters who hate women taking action like this, you are riddled with misogyny and seek only to validate men. We see you.

There might be some circumstances where the truth could be "hateful", like talking about how fat someone is in the street.

However if it's a doctor bringing up someone's weight, and the health risks of obesity, we would say that the truth here is a defence regardless of whether the patient becomes offended.

And so telling the truth about extremist gender ideology, in the context of political debate or advertising, isn't going to be "hateful" regardless of whether some people get upset about it.

Ooh that IS good value. Thank you @FemaleAndLearning

I hope none were put on any libraries in Calderdale recently....

BabyStopCryin · 23/08/2023 07:33

Happy Valley?
Hmm, interesting, I was there recently, passed the library and the town hall.
It's a lovely wee place, I've recommended it to friends.
