Who can sign, please? Does it have to be members of the Green Party?

Restinggoddess · 04/08/2023 13:36

Glad to see this BUT it’s not an official communication

Lets hope it’s the start of the Green Party making more common sense decisions and policies

It's similar to the labour declaration which anyone can sign.

Would be great if as many as possible could sign it!

WarriorN · 04/08/2023 13:44

It would be great if people would consider rejoining; just a few more votes for people who know that sex matters standing for various roles at a regional level can make a huge difference to who is elected in.

WarriorN · 04/08/2023 13:45

(Elected into formal voluntary roles within the party; but this impacts at a grass roots party level when forming policies etc.)

ArabeIIaScott · 04/08/2023 13:46

Thanks for sharing.

Good to see. Is that all the main political parties now?

cariadlet · 04/08/2023 20:22

There were over 150 founding signatories - quite an achievement considering it all had to be done in secrecy.
Many more have signed since the website, petition and Twitter account all went live earlier today

MurielThrockmorton · 04/08/2023 20:35

I am a founding signatory, although I didn’t do any of the organisation. It’s the first time I’ve put my name to anything gender critical on social media although I’m quite open about it in my personal life, it’s great we have been able to do this all together. I originally joined the party in 1989 as a young lesbian and was an active member for years, it’s such a shame they have lost their way as we need a party focusing on the environment more than ever. I won’t even vote for them at the moment.

elephantandorchid · 04/08/2023 20:49

That looks very encouraging. It would be fab if someone could mention this to their colleagues in Scotland.

Does anyone know whether the LibDems have a similar declaration?

WiltingAtTreadmills · 04/08/2023 21:35

Hope this gets some momentum. I'd love to be able to support the Greens one day.

It's generally considered that the Scottish Greens are way past the point of any deviation from the party's extremist position, I'm afraid.

Andy Wightman and Robin Harper have both gone - I don't know of anyone else in the party with even slightly more moderate views.

It would be good to be proved wrong!

FigRollsAlly · 04/08/2023 21:49

Thanks Arabella, I must have missed this last year (latest signatures seem to be a year ago). Let’s hope all these declarations have a positive impact as my greatest fear is a LibLab coalition where Labour throw us under the bus as a sop to the Libs (not that I’m convinced yet that they wouldn’t do that anyway).

Feministwoman · 04/08/2023 22:26

I'm proud to be one of the original 150 signatories.
GPW are fab!

I just have to say that is the best username I've seen in ages.

Bluowl · 04/08/2023 23:25

It's a relief to see this declaration, it's wonderful to see women fighting back and standing up for their rights against the bullying of gender ideologists. The green party has been very badly affected and those fighting back have been subject to abuse, complaints, suspensions. But it's not stopped them....
Please consider signing, even if you can't or don't want to, if on twitter you can still show support and offer encouragement. Everything helps. 👍

ChrisPadley · 05/08/2023 08:32

It is for members, ex members, and supporters. So if you broadly support the Green Party but want it to sort out the mess its in over women's rights sign.

Another major step forward in the Green politics and laying the ground for the upcoming storm.

The clock is ticking for sexists in the Greens. The Green party of England and Wales are facing three court cases over their sexist attitudes and ongoing discrimination against people who accept biology. Shahrar Ali's case comes up first only two weeks away, on 21-25 August 2023.

These cases should be a huge game changer for Gender crits in the UK and the cases look very strong. Remember this is coming up in the run up to the next UK General election in 2024 all these cases are going to get a tonne of publicity. If we break the sexists in one party then their lies collapse in all. It will expose the sexist nonsense which lies behind the hatred of gender critical thinking in our professional classes.

Gardening is needed.

After Shahrar Ali's comes Emma Bateman’s, then Dawn Furness.

Success in these cases will continue the fight back against institutional sexism in the Greens and across the UK.

More details in this thread.
https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1674880457102577666.html

Shahrar Ali was the first prominent person to from an ethnic minority to gain a position of power as Deputy Leader inside the UK Greens. He has come under sustained attack for knowing human biology and lost a position as spokesperson for the party.

Emma Bateman, former prominent figure in the Green party, elected co-chair of Green Party woman group three time. She was expelled from the Green Party of England and Wales (GPEW) in January 2023 after being accused of a host of misdemeanours stemming from refusing to pretend that people can change sex.

Dawn Furness's case is particularly damning as she was targeted not just for being gender critical but because she challenged the Greens failure to safeguard over the Challenor child abuse cover up inside the party and was physically assaulted.

The Declaration lays the ground for retaking the party once all the lies are exposed. This will be happening in every party.

@peter_daly: Maya Forstater’s win is great news, but there’s still some way to go. Here is a thread of cases (mine and not mine) which still need funding… There are three cases against the Green Party,...…

Signed. Am not a member of the Green Party.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 05/08/2023 10:39

What happened to Dawn Furness seems particularly shocking.
