This looks highly alarming.

'FOI response has revealed that Chief Medical Officer@DrGregorSmith
has approved SPATH as Scotland's new treatment protocol. GPs will be able to prescribe hormones, & refer patients for surgery, without psychological assessment. This decision goes against@Hilary_Cass
recommendations'

Thanks to rogdmum, I emailed asking about the consultation and I have received an email today saying the consultation for this is now open, closes 1st March: https://www.healthcareimprovementscotland.org/our_work/standards_and_guidelines/stnds/gi_standards.aspx

Thanks.

I’m still digesting it but on the surface, it’s awful.

We really need to se the NES Transgender Care Knowledge and Skills Framework referenced in the document as I suspect that’s where Cass will be dismissed.

Completed, although I wish now that I’d done it as someone with lived experience- former tomboy who wanted to be a boy when I was about 8, but grew up hetero as a teen and woman, dating boys and men and married to a man and with two kids. So glad my body and life was not ruined by cross sex hormones and surgery. Poor kids today.
