SPATH - Scottish government treatment protocol for trans care counter to Cass

This looks highly alarming.

https://twitter.com/CanSG_org/status/1686645272129011712

'FOI response has revealed that Chief Medical Officer@DrGregorSmith
has approved SPATH as Scotland's new treatment protocol. GPs will be able to prescribe hormones, & refer patients for surgery, without psychological assessment. This decision goes against@Hilary_Cass
recommendations'

I’m old enough to remeber having the church influence Scottish schools and society. Jesus said “suffer the little children”. I’m not sure the teaching was “cut their balls off”

rogdmum · 02/08/2023 16:03

Which link, littlbrowndog ? The email address I posted or one of my Twitter links?

Talk about selectively quoting!

“But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.

‘Suffer little children’ as in ‘put up with the little children’. A (several hundred years) more modern translation:

”Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”

If anyone wants to email the project team to express concerns and/or ask what happened to the 12 week consultation which is supposed to be underway right now, this is the email address:

Is any evidence base provided for any of their recommendations?

How bizarre. I just emailed them this morning.

And on going to check the email address, I see they have responded to me:

”The consultation on the draft standards will be in Winter 2023. If you wish, we can add you to the distribution list for when the draft standards are published.”

I have asked to be added to the distribution

Well, yes, I selectively quoted ans purposefully misquoted to make a point about a secular Scotland’s change of approach to safeguarding. FWR would not be my first choice for an actual sermon.

These people are insane. As the parent of a RODG young adult with co morbidities this makes me feel sick. I'm grateful to be in England but the situation could be the same here with a change in government.

ArabeIIaScott · 02/08/2023 17:46

If it was all hypothetical I would say that this approach is highly likely to blow up in their faces and hasten a far swifter end to gender affirming care. Much as Isla Bryson did - the Scottish Government push things to an absurd degree, it all goes horribly wrong, the rest of the country stares in horror and learns from our mistakes.

That would be okay if the price to pay wasn't the health and wellbeing of Scottish children.

Kids are still going to present with gender dysphoria, though, aren't they?

AN should be all over this as Chole's testimony in the US is what let to his current Terfness. It is even in his home country

Exactly what I thought! Hope some of his new celebrity terf chums will alert him to this.

I didn’t realise magical thinking and a disregard for ethical, evidence-based clinical decision-making was the new NHS way of doing things. Talk about playing into the Tories’ hands. Slow hand clap for the Scottish NHS.

ArabeIIaScott · 02/08/2023 19:43

A choice between a left government and my children being put at risk to this dangerous nonsense?

No contest.

Is this resignation from the Scottish Greens, related? Or coincidental? The letter does reference Cass and the Sandyford:

Greens’ first MSP quits party over trans rights and independence

God, he's the spitting image of Mark Drakeford, lol.

ArabeIIaScott · 02/08/2023 21:46

Ah, FFS. He was a good man. A good politician who actually cared about the environment, although I know that's not fashionable in the Greens right now.

'My concern that the SGP’s public image has been damaged by its failure to co-operate meaningfully with other interests, including the Westminster government, is reinforced by the huge number of friends, acquaintances and random contacts who have expressed to me an opinion that the Scottish Green Party has lost the plot.'

Yep. It's become an embarrassment. Effectively killed off by internecine politics.

I’m absolutely raging about this, but unfortunately not surprised 😡 Scotland, my country, is actively demolishing the safeguarding of our children. However we will carry on fighting just as we did last year.

RealityFan · 02/08/2023 22:13

Didn't the leading pediatricians from half a dozen European nations recently release a report effectively slamming the Affirmative Model of teen trans healthcare?

In other words, expressly speaking out against what the Scottish NHS are proposing here.

They didn't get the memo it seems.

rogdmum · 02/08/2023 22:19

I’d really encourage anyone concerned about this to email the project team and ask to be added to the distribution list for when the draft standards come out for consultation. At least then they will know it’s not just me kicking up a fuss! 😁

Recipe for disaster. Please tell me the SNP are on track to be wiped out at the next General Election and Scottish Parliament election.

We very much hope so!

Oh I don't know. I would listen to a sermon from you but only if you are reading from the bible used at the church of Tunnocks.

Suffer the middle aged women with diabetes and gout if you over indulge on tea cakes.
