And, doesn’t Mermaids only have an interim CEO, meaning that they will be recruiting for a permanent one? 🤔

We can only hope...

...she can go down on the ship

Sounds like she jumped, then. And they don't have a replacement, and she's not hanging around til they find one.

NitroNine · 10/07/2023 15:38

In case the highlighting has made the text too faint for anyone, in her big thread about how awesome she’s been at running Stonewall, Nancy thanks the brilliant JKR for providing support with Stonewall’s rebranding & rebuilding 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂

(And yes, I know it doesn’t refer to The One True JKR; but if Nancy will be silly enough to use an initialism here that the vast majority of people would have to search-engine-of-choice to find the non-Rowling meaning of, I reserve the right to point & laugh.)

FKATondelayo · 10/07/2023 15:46

Under Nancy’s leadership Stonewall has achieved tangible, life-changing impacts for LGBTQ+ people

What would these be then? I would say it's 3 years of total failure on all counts.

RedToothBrush · 10/07/2023 15:47

It's interesting she's gone the week of Mermaids car crash and the Allison Bailey costs decision.

Of all the other 51 weeks she could have picked, why this one?

She's done loads for the Q+, to be fair

NutellaEllaElla · 10/07/2023 15:50

I honestly don't know who else she could be referring to when she thanks JKR??

SidewaysOtter · 10/07/2023 15:54

She's done loads for the Q+, to be fair

And she hasn't qualified whether these "tangible, life-changing impacts" are positive or negative...

In NonBinary Awareness Week, too!

In NonBinary Awareness Week, too!

FFS we've just had to endure an entire Pride month and now it's NonBinary Awareness Week? 🙄

RoseslnTheHospital · 10/07/2023 15:59

JKR in this context is John Knowles Ritchie

RebelliousCow · 10/07/2023 16:07

Sounds like she may already have another role lined up. Just one month's notice.

littlbrowndog · 10/07/2023 16:11

Fuckety- bye Nancy

ArabeIIaScott · 10/07/2023 16:13

This is all I really remember her doing:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-57281448

'She likened so-called "gender critical" beliefs to anti-Semitism.'

and

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10225111/Stonewall-brands-lesbians-sexual-racists-raising-concerns-sex-transgender-women.html

'She further complained that the ‘highly toxic’ cotton ceiling issue was ‘analogous to issues like sexual racism’.'

RebelliousCow · 10/07/2023 16:14

My concern would be should she now pop up on the fringes of government. Iain Anderson, the current chair of Stonewall, defected from the Conservative party to the Labour party earlier on in the year.

HermioneWeasley · 10/07/2023 16:16

I wonder what anti gay lunatic we’ll be treated to next

My thoughts too, sadly.
Interesting she called (whatever she was referring to as) 'anti-rights movement' - when you look at Stonewall's aims and the rights they are actively trying to remove!
"Moral panic" is such a weaselly bollocksy phrase. Just signifies that the user has zero interest in actually engaging with anything and just wants to fling mud. Par for the course in the general population, but when your job is presumably to engage with the issues facing LGB people? You have failed. You deliberately failed.

Redshoeblueshoe · 10/07/2023 16:27

My money is on her going to the Labour Party.

SinnerBoy · 10/07/2023 16:27

Rightsraptor Today 14:43

Well that's a poisoned chalice. Good luck finding anyone daft enough to take that on.

Liz Truss is dim enough to fit the bill and she'd be ideal. She tanked the economy in days, just think of what she could do with Stonewall!

PronounssheRa · 10/07/2023 16:30

There's lots of rumours Mhairi Black won't be standing at the next GE.

Just saying..............

Tootsweets23 · 10/07/2023 16:34

I think the chair Anderson was brought in to move her out. She was never suited to the job.

Also think it is about the money. Stonewall in 2022 was back down at 2017 income levels, so will be interesting to see if it goes down again when this year's accounts are published register-of-charities.charitycommission.gov.uk/charity-search/-/charity-details/3992465/financial-history
