The nazi thing

Why do people call us nazis? I’m very left-wing, politically I’m closer to a socialist than anything else. Nazi is a stand-in term for ultra-right, hateful, bigoted, genocidal, etc. It’s an insult to the people who actually suffered under the nazis for things they couldn’t control, mostly Jewish people, but gay people, disabled people, Roma people…

I can’t take my woman suit off at the end of the day. I’m always in this body and subject to the abuse it attracts and the suffering it requires. They don’t get to call me a nazi when I say someone with a penis didn’t suffer the way I did growing up as a girl and woman. Womanhood isn’t a feeling in your head, it’s a painful, exhausting physical reality. I’m just so tired of defending my place in a world that hates women.

Because they identify themselves as victims and lefty middle aged women as oppressors. It’s all bloody ridiculous.

Clymene · 25/06/2023 11:47

Because they have no actual arguments of merit.

h1d1ng1npla1ns1ght · 25/06/2023 11:50

I’m not even middle-aged, I’m only 30. I thought I had more time before I became the offensive old lady who always says the wrong thing but I guess I’m early!
I heard someone say, out loud, you can’t tell someone’s sex by looking at them… maybe it’s because I’ve spent so many of the last five years pregnant or breastfeeding but yes you fucking can. Any idiot could see my giant swollen baby belly and know I was female. Women don’t get to hide! Ugh. I’m so angry all the time.

ArabeIIaScott · 25/06/2023 11:50

IDK did someone invade Poland by accident?

They use that because its the worst thing they can think of and they are angry. It's pure ad hom bullshit.

BriceNobeslovesMurielHeslop · 25/06/2023 11:54

I hate it, OP. I find it offensive in the extreme. The Nazis burnt people, they attempted to eradicate entire strata of people from the planet. How dare they pretend this is in any way the same thing? It’s indicative of the hypocrisy that pervades this entire movement, and I consider myself a left wing, pretty “woke” person.

h1d1ng1npla1ns1ght · 25/06/2023 11:57

It couldn’t possibly be the case that left-wing and right-wing women uniting over an issue means the issue has merit for women. It must be that we’re all hateful bigots who love Hitler. A friend of mine called JK Rowling a “literal nazi”. What!? A literal nazi. Literal. She writes things on twitter he doesn’t like so obviously she’s comparable to the worst war criminals who have ever existed.

OP posts:
WandaWomblesaurus · 25/06/2023 11:58

Because they have no concept of history or understanding of what genocide actually means.
They think that keeping male rapists out of womens prisons is literal murder and that not wanting children to think they have been born in the wrong bodies and need medicating and amputations is someone evil and makes women wannabe concentration camp officers in disguise.
It's a way to fetishise their experience as victims and to justify their aggressive desires to physically harm us - which we see manifold in the choke on my dick threats.

h1d1ng1npla1ns1ght · 25/06/2023 12:01

Oh god, the choke on my dick (or “lady dick”, sometimes) thing just makes me so angry. And scared. Anyone who says that isn’t a woman, they’re just another man weaponising their biological body against a woman and using it to degrade her.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 25/06/2023 12:13

It's reckless and historically illiterate and an abuse of language. When you call someone who disagrees with you a 'literal Nazi,' what's left if at some point you need a name for the real thing?

People throw the terms 'Nazi' and 'fascist' around with zero regard for the historical resonance. I've been called an expense nazi for rejecting someone's expense claim. When people are that stupid you realise that they have no intelligent argument to make and are descending to the worst abuse they can summon up. And the person who resorts to abuse is the person who has either lost the argument or never had one in the first place.

Helleofabore · 25/06/2023 12:14

Maybe because people forget that many of the rights women are currently discussing for women and children are one supported by the majority of the population. Therefore they try to use polarisation to shame people who believe it or to scare people from supporting it.

The simplified version is the earth is round.

Well, I am sure that many people who are genuinely Nazis think the earth is round. So, therefore by the exact same method these extreme activists are using, all those who believe the earth is round are Nazis.

The earth is round = believed by Nazis = all people believing the earth is round are Nazis.

That is what is happening.

Yet, when you use the same method back to them about actual members of their community- such as Peter Tatchell’s writings on sex with children- they try to deny that is the same as they are attempting with feminists.

It is childish thinking, puerile and devoid of intelligence or critical thinking. But we see it here time and time again.

I think what's happening in a broader sense is that the Second World War is passing from what was lived experience for many into recorded history only.

The word 'nazi' is probably undergoing the same process that happened with 'Vandal' or 'Hun' or 'berserk'.

Some sections of the populace still have experience of Nazis and neo nazis, or at least a clear understanding and knowledge of the history, and will understandably find the word and associations deeply offensive, while others have a very vague, cartoon-like idea of Nazis as 'the baddies' in a distant story. It's being mis-used in a casual way as an insult.

vegantubbycustard · 25/06/2023 12:24

Projection.

TRAs = incels = Nazi-sympathisers.

The same thought occurred to me as I was posting. DGF had a lot of stories about the war (mostly daft things he'd done) but dig down and he saw a lot of dreadful things. DM was a child during the war and I think was permanently marked by it, especially being evacuated. Their's, to use a ghastly phrase, was the lived experience - fighting, air raids, the imminent threat of invasion and the deaths of people they knew. I was watching a programme called World War Weird a few weeks ago, and it featured an account of Audrey Hepburn's experience of growing up in the occupied Netherlands. One of the presenters quoted her as saying, 'You know all those things you've heard about what the Germans did during the war? take it from me, it was a lot, lot worse than that.' The sheer horrors have been sanitised by historical distance.

ArabeIIaScott · 25/06/2023 12:30

Yep. Many of us had grandparents with stories - or probably more often, grandparents who Did Not Talk about the war.

That great silence.

FedgeHund · 25/06/2023 12:30

You are dealing with people who say men are women.

They are describing themselves. DARVO.

Nazis started with experiments on the disabled like Trans activists advocate for.

They went into schools.

They recruited into the party more doctors than any other profession and faster, they were very eager to experiment.

It was ALWAYS 'listen to this stupid thing I did.' DGF was on Malta with the army during the blockade, and told us about mistaking Italians Macchis for Spitfires. Not that they were starving.

StephanieSuperpowers · 25/06/2023 12:36

It's kind of funny. In my teens, my Dad used to call me a feminazi. In my 40s, my brother has called me an actual nazi. Both ends of my reproductive life bookended by beardy men in their 40s calling me nazi.

My views haven't changed at all.

ArabeIIaScott · 25/06/2023 12:37

I remember old men with missing limbs, fingers. Some of them with sudden, startling reactions if they were asked about what had happened.

A whole generation of traumatised men, no understanding of PTSD, I doubt very much in the way of support or counselling.

Hoppinggreen · 25/06/2023 12:37

Anyone calling people who simply want to protect our hard earned legal rights should spend an hour or 2 at Dachau or Auswitz and see what Nazis actually do

Not wanting to derail, but at the end of her life DM was in a retirement facility (the hospice bit) in Australia. Every person who went into the facility had an interview to encourage them to talk about themselves - not just to find out about them and what they'd done in their lives but to help with their treatment. Being Australia, a lot of the men had fought the Japanese or been POWs and were still very much affected by their experiences 60 years later.

SamphiretheTervosaurReturneth · 25/06/2023 12:42

Because it's a word with universal negative connotations and we are supposed to stop and refute it. So it becomes the focus of discussion.

One big shout if squirrel basically.

There is no way to refute it either. They simply repeat some nonsense that again is supposed to make us feel 'bad'.

I now just laugh, say something like "that won't be true no matter how often you repeat it" and get straight back to the point, usually bluntly, Anglo Saxon swear words included.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 25/06/2023 12:46

I've been called terf on twitter. My response is that the only bit I recognise of that is feminist and that you might as well call me the number 57 bus for all I care.

dcbc1234 · 25/06/2023 12:47

You could try pointing out that it is the Trans Rights Activists who seem to believe in Eugenics i.e. 'transing the gay away', making children with special needs infertile etc etc.
They have no logical arguments so they resort to insults. Just like when I tell a relative I now vote Conservative for various logical reasons such as not wanting a 2nd Independence Referendum in Scotland, they retort with 'How do you live with yourself?'
I resigned from Labour in 2017(Corbyn) but it lost me ages ago.

dcbc1234 · 25/06/2023 12:52

Given how all this genderwoo nonsense has come about, my vote is now based mainly on the issue of 'freedom of speech'. Tories have been terrible, divided and asleep at the wheel but their allowing free speech has enabled people to fight back against genderwoo.
I do not want to live in a country (and alas I do Scotland) where someone I invite to dinner in my own house can report me to the police for hate speech.
