Yep - the school children pretending to be cats etc are therians. Not furries. I'm on tik tok and had a look cause I'd never heard of therians.

I get what people say about there being a fetish side of the Furry community but my observation in real life is that the majority of furries reject that image. The main convention organisers seem to take their image seriously and distance themselves from the seedier side. I followed Confuzzled recently and their convention at the Hilton in Birmingham. Seemed really well organised with lots of like minded people taking over the entire hotel and generally having a good time.

Ok so basically schools have to deal with trans students, furry students & therian students.. All three groups pretending to be something they are not or can never be.. And the schools are expected to validate their demands & go along with the lies...

Fell down a rabbit hole of therians compilations on YouTube and yes, many talk about things like being transmasc etc.

Also something about howling on the 5th april to connect with others locally. Which is obviously something that could be used by men wanting to connect with vulnerable teens.

I don't see any reason why you can't think you feel like (what you imagine) a lion feels like. It's your imagination etc.

And when someone tells me they identify as a Shark or a Lion or whatever else, I understand it's a metaphor and they're not really convinced they have a cartilaginous skeleton and live in the ocean etc. And for me that's as far as it goes and as far as I go.

Larping as a fur suit seems, well, a bit weird, but I'm down with weird. Generally larping is a harmless and wholesome hobby practised far away from non-participating people.

How can this be a fair discussion or even a useful one, when someone is allowed to say 'my overall impression of the furry community is beneficent, non-sexual, etc.' and multiple people have their posts deleted when talking about our own personal experience of that community? One is allowed to talk positively about the community but not negatively.

Just to take this down a notch, I personally have no issues with furries and fail to see any problems with it.

You basically have a group of people who in the own free time like dressing up as and pretending to be a character. This is no different from Star Wars or Comic-Con or The Sealed Knot battle re enactment.

Furries don't insist on other people changing their actions or speech to them for example addressing them by barking or meowing, they aren't insisting on separate peeing posts or litter trays at schools or at work and they aren't insisting on being allowed to eat out of a bowl rather than a table. In fact they just go about the daily business as ordinary people.

In short whilst it's not "my bag" (and neither for that matter is Star Wars or Sealed Knot), I can see it's a group of people with a harmless hobby that they do in the own time and doesn't impinge on or impact or harm others.

Yes - so it's the trans issue that is really the issue.
But the media like to throw is stuff like furries and kids pretending to be cats just to get a reaction.
And here you are reacting.
Children pretending to be something is unimportant. Children wanting to have their bodies altered because they think they ARE something IS important.

What I see a lot of people doing on here is buying into the media hyperbole instead of applying a bit of critical thought.

I'm not buying into any media hyperbole. I've been posting on my direct experience. Except I am not allowed to and you are because my posts on my experience with furries get deleted. The community is rife with abusive kinks and porn.

Someone above asked me to PM them a link to some of what I'm talking about. I've been hestitant to do so because whilst it wouldn't be a DIRECT link to illegal content I am not confident enough in that to send it to them. There's a LOT of cartoon porn on there and who knows what counts these days? Someone kid recently got charged because he had a cartoon of Bart Simpson and Marge Simpson on his computer. Gross and not funny to me, but if that gets someone criminal charges I don't want to PM someone a link to a site that has cartoon animals performing sex acts. It's a furry roleplaying site where furries list their kinks. I came across it quite by accident (and alarmingly easily). I imagine it is still out there.

There is plenty of reason to be concerned about children being exposed to the furry movement or getting drawn into it online.

Martin(e) Rothblatt strikes me as possessing that kind of genius bordering on insanity. Obviously made some important advances in medical treatments - like pulmonary hypertension for example - but the transhuman and transspecies stuff is off its rocker.
But what really irritates me is when I see things like "highest paid female CEO of 2018". Nooooooo! Yes highly paid. NOT female. It just makes a mockery of equality stats if a natal male can be counted as a high earning female.
Good on them for some of the achievements, but it's as a man, not a woman, because sex matters in that area.
