Police withdraw stalking protection order application against Caroline Farrow

Or rather their barrister does. The case somehow got as far as court without the police giving Caroline's representations to the barrister. Once he read them he declined to proceeed.

@baldieheid was quoting, George Bernard Shaw (or at least attributed him). It's a metaphor.

@CliantheLang is explicitly not calling you a pig.

I was expecting much worse

None the less, your feeling were hurt.

Why is there a choice of when to turn cameras on?
There are certain incidents we go to where BWV can not be used. Any cases where you believe you will have to video interview a witness at a later date. Mental Health assessments, medical assessments, obtaining written statements, PPN's etc etc

However - there is also a cost implication. In essence it costs a fortune for data storage for BWV footage, especially if it is all marked as 'evidential' You will have hundreds of cops with footage every day with footage which will need storing for ever if its marked as 'evidential' (which it should be) just in case its required.

I personally keep mine on and encourage my colleagues to do the same during the shift. It only gets turned off in circumstances where we can't record (as above). The storage costs are astronomical and this will ultimately get passed on in local council tax hikes.

If you are wanting cops to have their BWV's on all the time to show what they are doing - it will have a cost implication to the local community.

LarkLane
This case won't touch the Chief Constable - it will be dealt with by the shift responsible. The shift will deal with cases such as this one all the time, together with a whole heap of other incidents. Don't build your hopes up that the CC will make a comment on the outcome of it, as they will probably be unaware of it.

My 'feeling' or 'feelings' weren't hurt - I get called much worse at work from people I arrest.

My point is - its wrong to do it.

This is off the back of a post stating that I had no humanity. I was pointing out that others on here seem to have none either.

Felix125 · 05/08/2023 00:00

And the above post was in answer to BezMills - who didn't believe it had happened.

LarkLane · 05/08/2023 00:04

The previous CC was very much aware of what happened to Caroline.
As is the PCC
As is the new CC.
And it's very odd and uninformed to state that they won't know about it.

Well, quite.

Felix125 · 05/08/2023 00:13

That's why I said probably - they might then in this case.

But most CC's won't know about every offence and investigation that goes on in their force.

IcakethereforeIam · 05/08/2023 00:16

It didn't happen. Not as you said. No one called you a pig. But you chose to interpret the 'evidence' that way. Perhaps you are a copper?

Glad your feelings weren't hurt.

IwantToRetire · 05/08/2023 00:42

Just a general response to those who replied to me earlier. Somehow the notification system didn't alert me there were more replies, and here I was sitting smugly all day thinking I had accomplished my task. To stop the thread being derailed.

In my mind and why I joined this thread was to be kept up to date with what is happening to Caroline Farrow.

And it seems to have got totally swamped by somebody who has appointed themselves to comment on new information as it is posted, when no comments are needed. They are updates.

Added to which it just seemed really clear that when others mentioned other issues with the police, the long winded commentary about why police would or would not do something, just didn't happen. Implying some strange obsession with this one case.

Why? But please note I dont actually want a reply. Just said to make clear it appears really strange.

In addition, so I am quite immune to comments about my writing,, I cant spell (I left school at 16 with a report saying this girl is barely literate!), I am a slow typist and often dont have the check what I have said.

And yes I know it can make my posts seem a bit mad, but we all have our flaws.

I do hope the threads get regular updates.

I do hope the running commentary would stop.

Felix125 · 06/08/2023 03:13

IwantToRetire
I commented on the question as to why the OIC has taken a 7 week holiday.
I commented on the BWV issue.
I comment on other threads about police issues.
Its a public forum - I can make comments on theses threads.

I don't really care that you can't spell - but I'm not sure why other posters seem to pick my spelling & grammar to pieces but not others - it does just seem really strange.

Beefcurtains79 · 07/08/2023 06:59

Who would repeatedly post on a thread they are not wanted on? What motivation could there be? 🤔

BezMills · 07/08/2023 07:04

someone keeps coming into a space despite being clearly unwelcome, apparently in need of validation for their claimed identity

I unno, rings a bell likesay

BezMills · 07/08/2023 07:06

I forgot the manspreading and mansplaining and attempts to dominate the discourse

Felix125 · 07/08/2023 09:55

Its a public discussion forum, so this thread is not a 'private space'
And if people raise issues which I want to comment on - I am free to do so.

Such as the recent BWV subject where the 'time travel' argument was again raised.

Or how is it possible for a cop to get a 7 week holiday and why the rest of their team will not be able to just automatically take on their case load.

Needmoresleep · 07/08/2023 10:22

Felix, this is a discussion forum. It is where (mainly) women discuss things anonymously. Discussion on most threads meanders and moves on. You are very focussed on police procedure and are preventing the discussion from moving on. It is as if you believe that if you repeat yourself enough we will all submit to your greater knowledge. It appears that even serving policewomen are not allowed to suggest an alternative view.

It all comes across as very patronising and irritating. I very much hope that you are not actually a serving policeman as your emotional intelligence is awry and you seem unable to read the room.

As for the spelling and grammar. You set yourself up as so superior yet don't come across as particularly literate. That is why repeated posters cannot "bare" it.

Can't you just find another on-line community.

lechiffre55 · 07/08/2023 10:32

I think this place is needed to meet certain needs.

Felix125 · 07/08/2023 10:35

But this community is 'by parents for parents' and men also post on here, but it appears that you are OK with this, so long as they agree with everything that is being said.

If I disagree with certain points, I am freely able to make comments on it. And anyone is free to add an alternative view - where I have prevented this from happening?

And yes - I often find myself repeating what I have said as the same argument keeps being repeated back to me. And yes, the discussion should move on - yet posters keep bringing things up like BWV & time travel, my humanity, annual leave etc etc

And I don't 'set myself up as superior' I'm posting from my experience - where have I ever said that 'I am more superior'. Like i said before, I don't use the argument from authority.

Needmoresleep · 07/08/2023 10:41

Yes but no one else seems to need to "push home" their argument in the same way.

Yes it does come across as arrogant.

LarkLane · 07/08/2023 11:01

Pop up "policemen", on threads such as these, ime, are not here to honestly engage. The aim is to disrupt and close down threads.
An engineered claim of him being subjected to personal abuse from certain posters, was deleted by the mods.

Playing tag and appealing to a better nature doesn't work - except to feed a constant need for attention.

Any genuine police officer who carries on in the obsessive manner we see here, I view as being seriously lacking in integrity, insight, or potentially seriously unwell. I still don't believe this is actually a serving police officer however.

None of the women police officers/staff on MN have ever carried on like this, in all the years I've been reading MN threads.

IwantToRetire upthread speaks so much sense.
I'll look back in when there is a genuine update on Caroline's situation.

Felix125 · 07/08/2023 11:09

LarkLane
No - I'm not here to close down threads - unlike the previous threads on this subject matter which was 'closed down' by posters making references to cheese or desserts - just to bring the thread up to its maximum posts its allowed to have.

If posters raise comments on this thread relating to BWV, annual leave etc etc, I am going to comment on it, if I disagree with what is written (time travel etc).

Its a public discussion forum.

No wonder Cleveland Police ended up in special measures.

Felix125 · 07/08/2023 11:24

Maybe - I'm not with Cleveland though
