Or rather their barrister does. The case somehow got as far as court without the police giving Caroline's representations to the barrister. Once he read them he declined to proceeed.

I was answering a post from DogsAkimbo.
i know the thread is not about me - i was answering their post.

Its not just 'talking'. It's when it drifts into 'offensive comments'.
And similar threats to women (Louise and Caroline) should be investigated.

Felix125 · 04/08/2023 10:58

Brefugee · 04/08/2023 10:55

going to answer this and only this:

So I should just accept being called a pig and being told to FOFF as well as other abuse then?*

no. You can report those posts. HTH

But it doesn't make the comments right in the first place does it.

No, it doesn't, which is why you presumably reported the posts and they were deleted. Would "grow up" be any more acceptable? OK, that's possibly expressing my frustration a bit more forcibly than if I was as mature as I'm asking you to be. But my sympathy for you wore thin some weeks ago, because of the repetitive hammering of a point you made clearly the first time.

DogsAkimbo · 04/08/2023 11:09

I’ve already got kids, not into being someone else’s mummy.

SabrinaThwaite · 04/08/2023 11:09

As before, if anyone thinks an offensive comment has been made, report it to MNHQ.

Although it seems that there must be a very low bar for “grossly offensive” for anything on this thread (bar the troll posts which I didn’t see) to be deemed meeting that definition.

People do not have a right not to be offended.

BezMills · 04/08/2023 11:11

If I saw anyone calling anyone a pig I'd report it.

I have read every* post ALand saw none calling anyone a pig.

  • except most of the repetitive wallottexts, those are filed in the round drawer labelled TLDR (I can read 600 wpm+ and my time is too valuable to me to even bother)
DogsAkimbo · 04/08/2023 11:12

Yes me too, it’s rare and MN are good at deleting. Shouldn’t have to derail a whole thread about something else that’s important…

BezMills · 04/08/2023 11:13

I simply don't believe you felix

AlisonDonut · 04/08/2023 11:15

Women get calling bad words regularly, many from the time they hit puberty.

One man got called a pig once, and cannot stop bleating on about it.

PaterPower · 04/08/2023 11:16

This post is not aimed specifically at Felix, more a general observation on the earlier discussion about body worn cameras…

The police services (plural) like to make much of the security of their data retention on the various body-worn and CCTV camera systems they deploy. We are assured, repeatedly, that individual officers have no access to the footage whilst recording, (although they can choose not to hit record), or once docked and uploaded at the station.

And yet, in so many instances that it’s hard to credit, gaps suddenly appear in the footage or it gets “lost” in some mysterious, never adequately explained, manner.

And, in a statistically-unlikely-to-be-random fashion, it seems to get “lost” most often where the Police are being questioned about their behaviour.

DogsAkimbo · 04/08/2023 11:19

Why is there a choice of when to turn cameras on?

I agree - it is a very sensitive subject and I hope its resolved very quickly.

I have said that its a horrible situation for Caroline to be in and the length of enquiries just add to her stress.

And because i think its a very sensitive & important issue to discuss - I'm not sure why certain posters on here descend it into posting pictures of seals, desserts, cheese? Or deflecting by questioning my grammar & spelling but no one else is challenged. Or try to use a username in another forum which happens to be the same as mine and state that it must be me?

And I don't think being called 'a pig' and repeatedly being told to 'F* OFF' as well as another abusive comments on these threads can be seen as 'mild frustration'. Its borderline Malicious Communications and goes against the rules of the forum - which is why MNHQ deletes the posts.

Only one other poster came out and said calling me 'a pig' was wrong - so does that mean the others are complicit in this? Another poster agreed with the comment.

On threads in which such abusive online comments is seen as being unacceptable - why should I have to accept them being thrown at me as merely 'mild frustration'?

Perhaps you could report the abusive posts to the police?

DogsAkimbo · 04/08/2023 11:25

InWalksBarbarella · 04/08/2023 11:23

Well he’s identifying himself as a police officer and then referring to the malicious communications act, so I think the intent there is try to subdue us.

IcakethereforeIam · 04/08/2023 11:27

It'll be because limited memory, possibly battery life. Though I'm unconvinced by the former. There might also be data protection issues, for the officer and the public. If they could record all the time, there perhaps should be a stop switch for toilet breaks and the like. Though I imagine the Police Unions wouldn't want their members routinely recorded.

IcakethereforeIam · 04/08/2023 11:28

Sorry, pp for @DogsAkimbo

PaterPower · 04/08/2023 11:37

True… it might be embarrassing when they’re shagging on shift, or pestering vulnerable women, for instance.

That makes sense. I’d imagine it could eventually be uploaded to the cloud, but yes to times when it shouldn’t record.

you have zero ability for introspection or thought sometimes. Really. If people didn't commit crime we wouldn't need the police.

Zebracat · 04/08/2023 15:17

We really do need to ignore it. I’m not sure that it isnt AI. ENDLESSLY REPEATING ONESELF Suggests either AI or someone deliberately being provocative and undermining a thread in order to stop women talking, but when the poster is being directly addressed, and therefore justified in answering,it masks that. I keep coming back in the hope of an informative update.I kind of hope it’s AI because if not, even if you genuinely feel you are providing a service, having 99% of people thinking you’re a complete tosser is quite damaging to the psyche. Please note, I’m not accusing anyone, or calling anyone that, just observing that’s what people think

BernardSure · 04/08/2023 15:24

Since when did this thread become the Felix show?

Thanks @DogsAkimbo and @DrLouiseJMoody

It's absolutely unbelievable what Complainatron and PC Useful at Sorry Police are putting Caroline through. I look forward to this being shut down, and getting some clear statement from leadership of Sorry Police and the PCC about how this has come about and what lessons they can learn from it.
We simply cannot allow our precious and limited funds allocated to policing to be spaffed away harrassing someone at the behest of a malicious individual. We deserve better, the police can do better.

Surrey's Chief Con when this saga started was Gavin Stephens the Weak. Too scared to be interviewed about this on TV back in October I recall.

It sums up how much these people all piss in each others pots, as I see he's now moved onto Chair of the National Police Chief Council. Presumably, cos yanno he's great at listening to Communities, or so he claims.

I wonder what the new lad is making of all this complete bollocks that's left festering on his desk? At some point when this has ended, and Caroline is vindicated, he's going to be asked to do some strong press interviews.

I do hope that he's practising his best "lessons will be learned" speech for when the shit hits the fan

You read between my lines.

MassiveWordSalad · 04/08/2023 22:15

I know Caroline was hoping for gardening contributions in the hope of receiving some redress against Surrey Police. Is this still going?

I also remember there were some hopes that any vegetables donated would be ringfenced for this action - can you confirm this is the case @DrLouiseJMoody ?

MassiveWordSalad · 04/08/2023 22:19

@Felix125 I'm not sure anyone asked for your invaluable expertise on this thread, but are you aware Mumsnet has an 'Ask Me Anything' forum? I'm sure the people of Mumsnet would find an "I'm a police officer, ask me anything" thread interesting. You may even get some useful pointers from other Mumsnetters who work for the police too. Helpful all round.

DrLouiseJMoody · 04/08/2023 22:30

I believe that tomatoes are fenced off to help a specific cause and that an email went out to CitizenGo subscribers or at least the wording changed. Caroline was sympathetic to that!
