Police withdraw stalking protection order application against Caroline Farrow

Or rather their barrister does. The case somehow got as far as court without the police giving Caroline's representations to the barrister. Once he read them he declined to proceeed.

So are you speculating that CF's interview was not a 'no reply' one?
How were the other 'submissions' made I wonder if not under caution - were they sent in the post?

I am highlighting this blatant fishing for information about the case, just in case anyone not following the thread closely still thinks he’s a policeman.

DrLouiseJMoody · 24/06/2023 04:20

Yes, @DarkDayforMN, like I'm going to answer! I'm confining myself to what's publicly available (either what's been said by Caroline or what was reported from court) - the police said Caroline can discuss the case with me and some others but we're hardly going to be providing details thus leading to more complaints.

I think that Felix is an envoy and I strongly suspect I've had the misfortune of dealing with him before (no, I don't think he is the complainant). He's a low IQ fantasist who thinks he knows far more about the law than he actually does, but that's evident from his posts.

I won't publicly speculate about who I think he is beyond saying I'm sure he's not a police officer.

Not at all - I am highlighting the fact that there are a lot of assumptions being made. And whether or not you think I'm a police officer isn't relevant.

I know I know, dont touch the poo, but I could not let this stand.

Its whether you think your a police officer that matters.
You do outright say you are one, so you are in effect representing the force by what you say on here.

Some of us know what's going on, we dont need to assume and we definitely don't need some random man to come and explain in terms our lady brains can understand.

I dont think any one of us believes you are in any way in the police force. But that doesnt matter. We dont need your opinion 64 thousand million times.

I know you wont listen, you will reply with but we just dont know. That's fine too, you wont catch us out, we wont suddenly say all the things we haven't yet said.

Youn seem to think we are idiots, but an idiot would keep repeating the same thing umpteen million times in hopes of a different result.

They sailed away in a Sieve, they did,
In a Sieve they sailed so fast,
With only a beautiful pea-green veil
Tied with a riband by way of a sail,
To a small tobacco-pipe mast;
And every one said, who saw them go,
‘O won’t they be soon upset, you know!
For the sky is dark, and the voyage is long,
And happen what may, it’s extremely wrong
In a Sieve to sail so fast!’

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 24/06/2023 09:38

But it always amazes me as in fact twitter is one of the least subscribed to social media platforms that really clever and interesting women (like JKR!) bother with it.

It's not about numbers - 'who' is more important than 'how many' [1]. Twitter is popular with academics and politicians, as well as the media and other writers. And it's easier to use than a lot of the ones with more subscribers - making a video is more difficult and time consuming than writing a few words, so you can get your thoughts out there faster and take part in live debates and exchange of ideas in ways that aren't really possible on something like YouTube, Instragram or TikTok.

[1] Statistica has it as number 5 in the UK, and 2 of the ones higher in the list are WhatsApp and Messenger - which are very different things. I wouldn’t actually call those social media at all.

Sorry OP just scrolled to the tope of page 2, forgetting that it doesn't display the whole OP.

IwantToRetire · 24/06/2023 15:54

re social media - I would hate to think that JKR is more interested in getting the attention of people whose area of work is basically parasitic of others, eg journos and academic.

I would also hate to think that JKR would be more interested in gaining the attention of a small elite!

But at least she is gracious enough to deign to mingle with ordinary folk on facebook.

Stats for 2023: In February 2023, Meta's Facebook held approximately 53.54 percent of the social network market in the United Kingdom, while Twitter accounted for approximately 17 percent.

As an old time grass roots radical feminists I find it disturbing that anyone would put a higher value on talking to people who are just talkers and observers, rather than making direct contact with those who may well be activists.

This may explain why there is so little IRL activism eg local groups lobbying councils etc., as the impression given is that a tweet is an end in itself.

But the other side of it is that so many women rely on having their feminism filtered through (curated!) for them by someone who writes an article mainly made up of things already said on facebook or even FWR, and they go all fan girl rather than questioning why someone should think they are so above the rest of us that they wont communitcate directly, but are happy to steal our ideas and our words.

Disclaimer! None of the above paragraph in any way refers to JKR.

But accept that given how sloppy and lazy journalists are you have to stoop to their level to get their attention. Though always remember some important reporting going on about and issue that had become a "twitter" war. So I thought there must be more to this than I realise. Only to find a thread of at best 10 comments.

If 10 comments of twitter is a war, what does that make many threads on FWR - totally breakdown of civil society and anarchy running amuck AND women having opinions!!

I'm not derailing - I am talking about the subject matter of the thread.

I've never identified as a solicitor. Whether you believe or disbelieve I am a police officer is irrelevant - I have never cited to my credentials in a discussion. That's effectively and argument from authority, which doesn't work in any discussion. Its like saying "I have a degree therefore I am right". Either the argument is good or the argument is bad.

I think you're weirdly obsessed with Caroline.

lechiffre55 · 24/06/2023 21:40

@DrLouiseJMoody
"Felix is, unsurprisingly since he's not a police officer, wrong."

I believe he is a police officer, but a specialist one who guards UK critical infrastructure. He's quite young too, below 30.
How this qualifies him to comment on these sorts of issues is anybodys guess. I think he believes that because he is a police officer ( of sorts ) that he knows everything about policing and the law.

DarkDayforMN · 24/06/2023 21:53

I hope this is a joke I’m not getting.

Nope. Exactly what it says on the tin.

DarkDayforMN · 24/06/2023 22:06

Well then I hope no one tells the Russians about him!

Or they'll be sending in operatives to shout "Look, look, over there!" and steal some nukes while his back is turned.

Nothing as exciting at nukes. Just a bog standard power station.
Probably quite a booring job. Hence the need to spice it up and come tell all the women how it is.

SlightlyShostakovich · 24/06/2023 22:18

Oh you mean like the MOD plods who 'guarded' Greenham for a while after the nukes left?

They were bored enough when the nukes were on site. It was only downhill from there.

Apocalyptic? 🤣

IwantToRetire · 24/06/2023 22:51

The Terf Apocalypse - coming to a cinema near you this summer.

See women think for themselves.

Here them sing songs of rebellion.

And make jokes in the face of their arch nemises presuming to tell them how to think!

2Rebecca · 24/06/2023 23:14

So is that the end of that ridiculous police over reach? It seemed very bizarre. Someone in that force should lose their job or have retraining if they did march her off and confiscate stuff just to have it all dropped once a barrister understands what really happened, or didn't

IwantToRetire · 24/06/2023 23:21

In the twitter thread listed about she says:

Still waiting to hear about criminal charges and what the CPS decide.

Yes. Or ‘check their thinking’ at the very least.

I've never said at any point that '...we are idiots...' and the reason I keep repeating is that the same argument is thrown back at me.

For the record I am an emergency response cop and have been for 20+ years. Whether you believe that, or want to believe that, is not relevant. I'll speak from experience but will not cite to my credentials in an argument/discussion. Either my argument is good or the argument is bad. Citing to your credentials in an discussion does not add anything to it - that's why I don't do it.

Far and few, far and few are the lands where the Jumblies live…

SideWonder · 25/06/2023 14:50

The case somehow got as far as court without the police giving Caroline's representations to the barrister.

Either gross negligence or outrageous prejudice (and contrary to the Equalities Act which protects religious belief).
