Anyone seen one of these elsewhere, or has this pub written it up specially?

I feel like I want a sticker with Harry Enfield,in character, doing ‘Women! Know. Your. Place’ to deface it with.

But no doubt the irony would completely pass the po-faced eejits by.

RedToothBrush · 19/06/2023 21:43

Do gender neutral toilets put advertising on the back wall of the toilet AND the door of the toilet to truly be inclusive?

Asking for a friend.

Okshacky · 19/06/2023 21:44

I think a frustrated “oh go and piss in your own pots you penis tucking twits” comes to mind. I’ve only ever met one transwoman in a toilet. I think I was a massive disappointment.

You mean you didn't shriek with glee and pass bog roll under the door?

Shame on you. That's exclusionary.

Actually, on further thought here are the quick alterations I would make with a sharpie:

  1. Cross out everything after "are frustrated by" and write in "by not seeing you pee"
  2. Cross out everything after "disproving and undermining" and just replace it with "women".
  3. Cross out "messages" and write "willies" in its place.
  4. Cross out everything after "as they seem" and write in "to have women in them."

I have one for 5 but it's kind of gross so left it out.

And for the big bold parts my write ins would be:
"Men's" just before toilets.
"Then use the men's" after Gender Neutral Act

Or could just put some leering eyes in the O's of Bathroom and a tongue below it and write "watching you"

@heartsinvisiblefury Giant cock and balls is good, too! :)

The only change that poster needs is: cross out “trans bathroom” in the first line and replace with “male supremacist”.

@Timefordrama It was I think a frame, so I assumed so, but possibly not. I'm considering emailing them to ask.

What? Ridiculous. graffiti 'does a little girl have the right to use a female bathroom without a male stranger following her in?'

Utter narcissism, the inevitable crap caused to women and girls is just collateral to them, we're not idiots, most of us can work this out for ourselves.

Madamecastafiore · 19/06/2023 15:20

I'm going to write #StillAMan in huge red letters over this pile of poo!

I was thinking “Tell me you’re a raging misogynist without saying you’re a raging misogynist.”

YorkshirePuddingsGreatestFan · 20/06/2023 08:08

I disagree with the poster.

The transwoman I saw using the toilet left the cubicle door open, did a standing up wee out of their penis, then came out of the cubicle holding said penis and shouting aggressively at the bigots and terfs (ie me and another lady) because we didn't want to see said penis.

That was a deliberate act to harm women. Not an ounce of respect, dignity or safety shown by that individual.

nauticant · 19/06/2023 12:00

We are focusing on bathrooms as they seem central in the duscussion around trans people.

That needs a translation:

We are focusing on bathrooms because: 1) we can trivialise the whole thing into one side issue and thus ignore the real substantial issues that would otherswise engage the interest of the public; and 2) we have a US-focused colonial mindset.

Exactly...saying it's just about toilets is like saying Rosa Parks was just about bus seats.

I am so sorry that you experienced that.

Did you report the individual to the police? Surely that would be exposure. I doubt males act that way in the male toilets.

CurseYouPerryThePlatypus · 20/06/2023 08:24

How awful yorkshire I’m sorry. Of course they wouldn’t dare act like that in the men’s. And I’m relatively certain women (or indeed transmen) wouldn’t walk out of the cubicle with their trousers down clutching their vulva either. Funny that.

CurseYouPerryThePlatypus · 20/06/2023 08:25

If you really want to make them happy, you need to ask them for a tampon

CurseYouPerryThePlatypus · 20/06/2023 08:26

Sorry that was meant to quote the “bog roll under the door” post above!

CorderBollie · 20/06/2023 08:28

That looks like one of those clip frames, where the edges can be pulled back to remove and replace posters easily.

CorderBollie · 20/06/2023 08:35

which pub is this?

Sorry that happened.

See, this is the problem with pubs and clubs especially - the clientele are highly likely to be drinking and have lower inhibitions anyway, so there's a far higher risk to women of sexual assault in those environments than in, say, an office or a hospital.

Obviously, all toilets should be sex-segregated anyway, but I think it's particularly dangerous for pubs and clubs to be making these kinds of misogynistic decisions as the risk to women is far higher where males are both entering women's spaces and are potentially drunk when doing so.

Ginmonkeyagain · 20/06/2023 13:20

So. Using the toilet is not a gender neutral act.

An example from my weekend.

We went to a bar on Sunday and unfortunately a (unspecified) fault meant that their toilets were not working but the urinals were. They had agreed with the separately owned bar next door that anyone who needed to use a toilet could go there

Guess which type of customers frequently had to make a trek across the yard behind the bar in the rain to use the toilets in another bar?

Slothtoes · 20/06/2023 13:55

I’ve always enjoyed the FWR favourite ‘Keep your penis out of the Ladies’ ‘

bellinisurge · 20/06/2023 13:58

There's room for "fuck off out of my spaces, get your own or use the men's"

RealityFan · 20/06/2023 14:11

I see one of these, it's coming right down.

You can gaslight me on Twitter, maybe even from the BBC or Guardian.

But I'll be fucked if I'm gonna be metaphorically shouted at in my local pub or venue (other than by the regulation pissheads) by these posters entering my visual field.

There is no "universal consent" to put these up...down they come.

Every reality- and common sense-based man and woman needs to do the same.

Naunet · 20/06/2023 15:08

If using the toilet is gender neutral, why do they need to use the women’s so badly?

The toilet is gender neutral. It's the women in it they need to use to validate their identity. Without the women it's just a toilet.

To be clear, it was the British who colonized America and much of the world...

Helleofabore · 20/06/2023 16:11

RedToothBrush · 20/06/2023 15:33

The toilet is gender neutral. It's the women in it they need to use to validate their identity. Without the women it's just a toilet.

Yep. If all the women leave and use a different toilet, those male people will certainly leave and follow.

I still have not really seen statistics showing that males who are trans are not safe in the male toilets. It keeps being used as a reason, but it seems to be lacking in logic because males then can attack those males in the female toilets now, it has not addressed the issue of protecting those male people at all. And it also has been shown to be completely false with the number of male people who continue to use the women's toilets when gender neutral are provided as well.

However, the 'we need to be kept safe using female human shields' is continued to be used.

Sadly, for those using it, women and girls are now feeling they have a voice about this and are using it. Every single year, support for males in single sex spaces decreases. Why? Because every single year, more women and girls are harmed and are now vocal about it. All the while, these male people try to continue to hold fast to privileges that were never theirs in the first place.

Because women and girls were never asked. Male people just took what they wanted. And they continue to. And they keep forgetting that women are humans of equal standing and frankly, if they wish to display their discomfort they should be able to and should NEVER have been told it was hateful to do so. That such 'microaggressions' caused people to commit suicide.

Frankly, if any male with a trans identity feels that they were ever welcome in these spaces and chooses to overlook the amount of hateful pressure applied to women and girls to 'accept' them there, I think they might need to seek mental health support. Because women and girls are no longer going to 'accept' males in their single sex spaces.

And ANY male still using single sex spaces knowing that it causes women and girls distress, has proven that they have absolutely no respect for women and girls. I cannot see any other motivation at all.
