Such as "only women menstruate"

He did also like some tweets by Andrew Tate but that's less problematic apparently.

He is now taking time to "educate himself". Good luck with that then!

Howard Donald: Take That star dropped from Nottingham Pride Festival after 'anti LGBTQ+' Twitter likes

Howard Donald had been due to perform at Groovebox's Nottingham Pride event in July, but has now been removed from the line-up, telling fans he's "disappointed" in himself for his "uneducated actions".

Yes, they have always been clear that most of the early stuff happened at gay clubs and Nigel I assume did that deliberately.

Datun · 18/06/2023 09:58

According to India, they're a biological, straight woman, complete with cervix. What does India know of gay clubs?

TWETMIRF · 18/06/2023 10:40

Maybe India asked Jonathan?...

there is some truth in that statement though, Take That’s early success and fame was largely through playing gay clubs, before they came to wider prominence.

Hmm.
I remember Take That playing the club in my home town before they were famous (and before I was old enough to go!) And the sixty form girls being very excitable.
Take That owe their success to women who are now middle aged. But that's not a cool thing to say.

Sixth not sixty 😳

In the early days Take that struggled to get the teen market. They were then put out to the gay clubs and did photoshoots in leather to appeal to the gay crowd to get some money rolling in while the label tired to repackage them for teenage girls. After that they started playing schools.

No one is suggesting it’s not cool to say they owe their success to middle aged women, just inaccurate.

From what I understand the gay crown went off them years ago so it’s just middle aged women keeping them going now.

This wins MN! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

The devil himself?

Is believing in the devil (a gendered one at that) part of the gender identity religion?

Good to know!

How is it inaccurate to say that they owe their success to their core sales base? Confused

In my opinion this is just the misogyny of the LGBT activists at play again. Take That were one of a number of boy bands who were successful in the 90s, filled the gap left by Bros splitting (as Boyzone did when TT split).

To imply they wouldn't have been successful if they hadn't played gay clubs is just bollocks IMO.

It's like being back in the middle ages with Henry VIII having jesters and fools performing his vicious politics and everyone having to figure out what to cheer and boo at a drunken party on pain of having your head on a stake if you have the wrong expression on your face.

It’s not an implication it’s simply fact.

It’s not misogynist to to state facts but it’s homophobic to put out lies claiming that TT didn’t market themselves to the gay audience after their first attempt at the teenage girl audience failed. Their first single was released for the gay market.

But like I explained to you in the previous message it’s purely the middle aged woman audience keeping them going now.

That's not the same as saying LGBT audiences were responsible for their success tho, as I W claimed.

Take That also played gigs at school assemblies if I remember rightly, so I imagine a lot of their success was down to hormonal teenagers, myself included! If they had been relying on ‘the gay pound’ to make them big then they would never have been as successful as they were/are. They’d maybe end up more like the Village People who did market themselves to gay men.

And I assume that the person who people think is behind this is NMS?

IamMummyhearmeROAR · 18/06/2023 16:03

Nope it's a fan

See, this is what puzzles me.

We all agree that trans women are women, yes? Wink

If that's the case then the statement 'only women menstruate' is true. How can this statement be offensive to anyone because trans women are women aren't they, and therefore saying only women menstruate includes all women, trans or otherwise, surely?

So how can it be offensive? Who is it offending? The only people excluded from this statement are men, who don't menstruate. I'm lost as to what women are offended by this.

Love this Grin

Ah right, not much of a fan then are they?! 😁

JazzyBBG · 18/06/2023 20:40

He's too big to be playing a mediocre Pride event anyway. Go and count your millions with JKR Howard.

Are you actually comparing this to the awful events earlier this week? This is nothing.

I'm assuming the Julie Bindel library cancellation was the Notts connection?

@Clementineorsatsuma Cancelling someone because they hold different views is ridiculous though. So we all have to conform?

'Cancelling' is a construct that doesn't exist.

He had his opinions, you have yours, I have mine. Should I confirm to yours?

Re SF Gay Men's Chorus, the Daily Mail did a balanced article at the time. The song was satirical - converting kids to be tolerant. No mention of criminal records - perhaps the allegation came to nothing.

Good to find someone who understands the context of their words!

I keep seeing references to onions in his socks. What does this mean, is it some mad conspiracy theory shit?

I've no idea, isn't it meant to keep colds and flu at bay?

Martina Navratilova agreed to re-educate herself and then concluded she had been right all along. (Source recent re-read of Helen Joyce's book 'Trans').

Scaling that peak is generally a one way journey.

My favourite moment of all time on Twitter was Rachel McKinnon/Veronica Ivy saying to Martina, "Don't you know who I am?" and listing "her" sporting achievements. To. Martina. Navratilova.

Thelnebriati · 20/06/2023 14:43

They're going to use that as the new dictionary definition of chutzpah Grin
