Am looking forward to tomorrow’s debate on the Equality Act. Anyone else planning to watch it?

I sent my MP the sex matters letter asking him to attend. He sent a waffley non commital reply. I thought of sending him a reminder over the weekend but decided I'd left it too late as his plans will already have been made.

Why is RMW making the point about female to male people? That's the group highlighted as losing rights under "for all purposes" (which the GRA was not - see all the peerages and so on). That group would lose maternity rights.

Maya has the rights of over half the population of the country in mind. Robin has the rights of Robin in mind.

Crispin Blunt, too. No consideration that women will not want to share spaces with males - with or without a GRC. Do we just stay at home then? It's OK for us to be excluded from public life?

As for using the women's loos when there's a unisex option and you've not even got a GRC. Appalling.

How can Crispin Blunt say "it would be terrible for people to have to use facilities they don't feel comfortable in" and not be able to think that through? What does that mean for WOMEN?

RMW is "somatically female" what does that mean?

RMW started off arguing that they were there as a practical lawyer to give their professional opinion but ended up making it all about RMW and how they know they're so accepted and always use women's facilities with no problems.

RMW wouldn't know how those coerced and vulnerable women actually feel nor would RMW care.

And what's this FOI that states there are no issues in the NHS. No issues with what? There's a lot of issues and women's vulnerability is not bottom of the list.

Did RMW get Transmen and Tranwomen muddled up at some point too?

Can you imagine the conversation... ladies we will be having Robin Moira White, a lawyer joining us, who has said xyz about the law and we must make them welcome.. No I know you're uncomfortable about it but the law has been explained to me by Robin who as a legal person wouldn't misrepresent it in any way and apparently we have to ignore our guts and let Robin ride roughshod all over our rights.

And whilst women may be polite to Robins face, for fear of losing their job, you do have to wonder what they say when Robin isn't around because id bet it was something completely different.

I'm just catching up - thought RMW said 'semantically female' which makes far less sense?! Guess it is somatically.

Don't think Maya should have said 'I see Robin as a man' - the 'unkindness' of that will be what sticks in many people's minds and it didn't need to be an observation about a particular person.

Agree that Maya put it across brilliantly and very clearly otherwise.

Great point about not making two tiers of trans people either - those with and without GRCs.
