Can anyone please shed light on this?! The last time I checked only women can get periods & it's been that way since time began! Am I seriously missing something?

Have you got nothing else to direct your anger to. There’s far bigger problems in the world. Who cares what word is used

When you have bearded, fully penised trans women (men) suing a business because they told them they were not allowed to go to the naked women spa (their words) and the business loses - there is legitimately no greater threat to women at the moment than the trans community. We are being erased, degraded, assaulted, insulted and told that we don't matter.

It's possible to care about more than one thing at a time, and talking about one of them on a web forum does not mean that nothing else is important. Obvs.

Words make laws.

Moonandstarz · 09/06/2023 13:59

@Lcb123 the only was women are going to get our rights back is by talking, sharing stories such as above & raising awareness...
But plenty of people seem to want us silenced & focus on "bigger problems in the world". I wonder why they is.... 🤔

I've just emailed them to ask them to explain what's wrong with using the word woman when talking about periods and will share their reply when it comes
I'm guessing they'll miss the point entirely.

Are you a menstruator or an ejaculator?

Words matter. George Orwell (I think) said that if you wish to destroy a culture, first destroy it's language. If the word 'woman' is taken from us, how can we describe our common experiences as women? How can we describe the ways we are opressed as women if the term 'woman' includes men?

forgotmyusername1 · 09/06/2023 14:03

do nhs records get changed when someone 'transitions'

just wondering if they will now have to invite everyone over a certain age for smear tests as some of the men won't be biological men. Does everyone now get invited for prostate exams?

anyone know?

Green Periods wouldn't have changed the language they use to talk about periods or publicly announce it on social media if no-one cared.

Language creates meaning, so obviously it matters. If no-one cares. then why not leave 'woman' to mean what it always meant until a few short years ago?

To suggest that the actual words we use is irrelevant to our lives is hugely disingenuous, as it matters massively to people on both sides of the gender ideology divide.

Thought this might be a parody until I saw the “blood all over the bath photo”. Not a single woman ever, ever does that while she’s got her period. Not a single one. Ever. 🤬

Gettingbysomehow · 09/06/2023 14:17

I'm pretty sure that all this nonsense is a fetish. They must surely be aware that men do not have periods . I assume they mean trans men who have women's bodies. Anyone having green periods should be swabbed for a very nasty infection.

As a woman, I can multi-task what I’m angry about. We all can.

Short answer: Yes, the marker on GP records is changed on patient request.

Long answer: When the new NHS digital systems were set up there was very extensive discussion about how to record sex and gender in clear and unambiguous ways that met both medical needs and patient preferences. They came up with a 2-box system to record both sex and gender, with guidance that the former was essential and the second optional.

Various people have done subject access requests on their own records and found the sex field is blank, and the gender one has been filled in without them being asked.

Words are important. Obvious to anyone, I'd have thought. If they are not important, why are trans women fussed about what anyone calls them? Why can we not call them men?

Well said @Gettingbysomehow Green periods would absolutely indicate a nasty, toxic infection & would require a few trips to the gynaecologist & antibiotics to sort out.

There is a very dark part of my mind which pops out its dark thoughts occasionally, and it is now jumping up and down saying that if the men want periods we can arrange for them experience bleeding down there, only on one occasion though. But they want to avoid that, don't they?
Also, there is a word in use for sperm ejacuators - alliterates with woman.
And seeing "men" in menstruation is faulty etymology, since it refers to the moon, but perhaps they want to claim lunacy.

DustyLee123 · 09/06/2023 14:42

If a man had to put up with the trials and tribulations of peri menopausal periods, they’d soon decide they didn’t want them !

BaiesRosesAmbre · 09/06/2023 15:20

There’s no menstruation without men???? What????

Sick of this all now.

SunsetBeauregarde · 09/06/2023 15:23

See now, I'm a woman who doesnt menstruate (PCOS and very early menopause as a result) and I actually like the idea of separating having periods from my identity as a woman. I AM a woman, but I don't menstruate and I like that some language exists that means period information can be directed to people without making me feel like im less of a woman because I don't menstruate. I don't think anyone is suggesting you should refer to WOMEN as menstruators, the suggestion is to refer to people who menstruate as menstruators and I don't think I mind that.

Men accessing womens spaces and sports can get in the bloody sea though, I just dont think this is the same.

"Not only have our cramps reduced with reusables, but we also haven’t spent a penny or sent a single product to the landfill in 10 years!"

From their website.
Incredible claim there that reusables help with cramps.

I think they must have been using the tampons very wrongly.

See again with this: they're not calling YOU a chest feeder or birthing human - they're suggesting that this language should exist for people who would like to use it. There are really legitimate concerns about the trans movement but you completely neutralize those concerns with this kind of thing. For example, my friend referred to herself as 'the birthing person' when in hosptial having her daughter, because her partner was also a woman and a mother. I'm glad this language existed for her and the midwives were aware of it.

It says inclusive of trans men - in other words, someone who was born female.

cuckyplunt · 09/06/2023 15:40

It’s an interesting marketing strategy, to piss your core consumers off quite this much. 99.99% of “menstruators” are women. To insult them in order to pander to the 0.01% of women who identify as men seems a bit counterproductive.
and that person in the bath is one sick bastard..

The tweet literally says trans men. Not trans women.
