This sounds horrendous. How can the police do this.

And yes, it was exactly as we predicted in the previous thread.

Should a certain police officer pop up in this thread, please try not to get drawn into protracted, repetitive arguments with him. Please!

Was that woman harassed by the same individual, Derek? Or just yet another instance of the police not taking things seriously?

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 22/06/2023 14:03

From twitter:

I am relieved and delighted to announce that having reviewed the significant evidence, Surrey police have decided to withdraw their application for a stalking protection order against me. 🎉🥳🍾

Wonderful.

I hope there is someone around to pour out a large G&T.

Rainbowshit · 22/06/2023 14:09

Fabulous news! To the man that is harassing her GIRFUY. 😘

SinnerBoy · 22/06/2023 14:10

Why the Hell did it even get to court in the first place? They've rolled over at the first challenge, they should be investigated for wasting time and money.

NyanBinaryJohn · 22/06/2023 14:11

You beat me to it.

Not entirely over though, she is waiting to hear if a criminal case will be brought against her.

I can't see how, but then again I can't see how we ended up in a world where believing something as easy to prove as biology is considered unacceptable.

SinnerBoy · 22/06/2023 14:14

If she isn't charged, she should ask that they close it properly and don't come back with it, a year later. If they do charge her and take her to court, hope for an intelligent magistrate, who isn't Stonewalled.

Pixiedust1234 · 22/06/2023 14:15

The Surrey police barrister arrived at Guildford Magistrates court, determined to pursue this order which could have ruined my life.

So they were still intent on doing this?? Fuckers

DarkDayforMN · 22/06/2023 14:18

I wonder if the cops will now finally realise that the man with a criminal record for violence who has harassed half a dozen different women with the unstinting and eager co-operation of the cops might not be entirely trustworthy… perhaps even something of a wrongun. Or will they continue to roll over, fetch and attack at his command?

BezMills · 22/06/2023 14:20

Well after months of 'just not knowing' (threads passim) we now 'know' that it was a disgraceful put up job and a waste of our money.

Zebracat · 22/06/2023 14:33

I expect we will be-told that we still don’t know. Well I bloody do!

DollyParkin · 22/06/2023 14:59

Why don't the police put their backs into protecting women from actual stalkers?

What is it 47 women dead this year already - murdered by male domestic partners, ex-parters, or family members.

Because, as we know from the murder of Sarah Everard and the multiple rapist copper who was jailed since then, the police are often the problem.

Well, well, well...who would have guessed that?? 🤨

Hoardasurass · 22/06/2023 15:08

I do hope that this still counts in her law suite against the police

GailBlancheViola · 22/06/2023 15:10

Good to hear, hopefully the end is in sight of this constant harassment of CF by Surrey Police and others.

mateysmum · 22/06/2023 15:10

Why did they not review the evidence properly before applying for the order?

Oh wait......

GCalltheway · 22/06/2023 15:17

It should not end there.

I hope the defence are now going to insist on a full investigation and the reporting person(s) should be charged with harassment or similar.

This should never be allowed to happen again - and the perpetrators in the public and indeed the police force should be found and charged, sacked and everyone involved disciplined fully.

They went after CF to try and silence her and to make an example of her, a totally innocent woman. We all know this.

The police in this case were clearly not remotely impartial or neutral and weaponised orders set aside to protect people like CF, not to abuse and use it to muzzle innocent members of the public in such a draconian way.

I hope this case will get plenty of press air time. The public have the right to know what is going on. Not a moment of pride and competence for Surrey Police and the CPS.

Yes @VitoCorleoneOfMNMafia my question was, sadly, rhetorical.

'Twas ever thus. I remember being advised by a Greenpeace activist at a rally against uranium mining in Australia in the 1980s that if it cam to it, I should do what I needed to avoid arrest, as they knew that women were at risk of rape if apprehended by the police.

anyolddinosaur · 22/06/2023 15:45

Unfortunately Police Commissioner's dont seem to feel they have any responsibility to hold the police to account for wasting public money or wasting time that should be spent on effective policing. So I guess complaints have to go to the Home office.

CliantheLang · 22/06/2023 15:56

Shhh...We're not supposed to talk about that.

Remember, the worst thing about male violence is that it makes men look bad.

DarkDayforMN · 22/06/2023 15:57

I understand that Police Commissioners can’t do anything about an open investigation, but then what happens if an investigation is dragged out for months or years, perhaps deliberately as a form of harassment?
